This guy is seriously underrated. I'm only a few year into fpv, but when people ask me certain questions i point them here or to Bardwell's channel.
Pointing to Bardwell is great. But getting all your drone info here isn't advisable.
If you can understand bardwell yuo belong at nasa. I just tell people TELLO. Still cheap then when you’re hooked move up a little to DJI. Still love captain drone.
@@zeeb696 my 2 ryzen Tellos are still good i only replaced 2 batteries, they tend to overheat if non flying for 2 min
That's True 😅
Very underrated. I have learn much on the few video i have watch. But I just found him👍
I've learned to ask the "how much would you like to spend" question when people ask about buying anything. It saves so much time.
Yep. What's your budget.
Good things are rarely cheap, and cheap things are rarely good.
Isnt it The same meaning?
What a genuinely great public service!
I regularly watch your videos and this is one of the best. Thank you for making it hellish entertaining too 👍👍
I must confess I'm amazed at what you bought for less than 50$ I build drones as a hobby and usually put $500 or so into a build. It pains me to admit these little buggers look like more fun in some ways than the ones I build. Thanks for the video, you gave me the nudge I needed to add an obstacle avoidance feature to my drones. ;-)
Steve!! This was AWSOME. Really like the way you talk about these drones. The sarcasm sometimes is hillarious. Please keep making these talks!
Great video. I started my drone hobby when my partner bought one of these cheap drones that promised so much. Forward 2 years and I’ve had at some point all DJI drones under £2k. I’m surprised that these companies get away with what they claim. I get asked by so many people what to buy. I just say you get what you pay for and I recommend DJI. I always recommend the DJI mini series.
I decided to get the dji avata.
I got the DJI Mini 3 pro and I'm looking into getting my part 107 here in the USA.
@@MrJunior2790 wanna swap for my mavic mini?
Dji mini 2 was and is the best bang for your buck.. especially if you find one used
@@TAKETopicS honestly sounds like a horrible deal lol
Great reality check! I had several "To good to be true" drones when I first started. You really do get what you pay for. Thanks for telling us like it truly is.
☘️ Great Review as always … I love your humour in what must be annoying questions … Sad thing is you’ll still be asked .. 🤣.. At least you can answer now by sending the link to this video .. For cheap drones Holystone are a great entry point into the hobby … You should check out Their HS230 Mecury 3 .. for the money a great little race drone with screen controller & can use your Fat Sharks .. I still have fun with it .. All the best from Ireland Steve 💚☘️😀👍
Brilliant video! Hilarious monologue and demos!
When you threw the Holy Stone outside without connected to the controller, i couldn't stop laughing haha.
THANKS FOR SUCH A DETAILED VIDEO AND MAKING IT SO INTERESTING AND FUN TO WATCH...
A very entertaining and really funny video. Great 👍🏻definitely one of my favorite channels. You really notice the effort that Steve always makes. I've been in the hobby for 7 years, I've been flying FPV for 2 years (which is really difficult, I'm just quite okay) and yes, the fun is expensive - but that's how it is with all the features. Interesting to see what cheap drones can do today.
Excellent Subscribe if you like drones this channel is just great
Great video to explain the price and what you get. I’m interested to see what other videos you could do on this type of video series.
I may do another as it appears popular
Steve, here in the United States, The F.A.A. does require all drones being used for commercial purposes, ( Real Estate, Construction, etc...) even drones under 250 grams to be registered and the pilots must have completed the Part 107 certification. I received this information directly from a contact at the F.A.A.. After years of watching your channel I think I have decided on the Mini 2 FE. I don't need many features, just a good camera platform to take photos of construction sites for Architectural work and for checking roofs of existing buildings. It will be interesting to see how the remote ID program will affect the drones under 150 grams. Thanks for all the great content and thanks again for the stickers!
Genuine enjoyment in this vid…great highlight of the difference between “cheap” and get what you pay for…that yellow guy seemed pretty fun for some indoor air hockey.
Well commander..I’m not a photographer,or any type of pilot,i leave that to you and other pros…I just dig the heck out of your channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍….awesome as usual
Thanks 👍
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you!,,,,,👍👍
Guess it would be cool for budding quad flyers to have a series based on this one, like 'what to expect when I get a sub $100 drone' or 'sub $200 drone' etc.
I do not own a drone but I always watch your channel. Thanks for the content sir.
My first drone was a Cheerson CX-20. I modified that thing to the max. When I ran out of room on the stock body I moved everything over to an S500 frame and flew it until I scraped it for parts for a hexacopter - which now sits on a shelf in my hobby room.
That was entertaining to watch Steve! You get what you pay for! Good 👍🏻 show.
This was entertaining and fun to watch. When I tell people how much I paid for my Mavic 2 pro they freak out. 👍👍✌️
You and your videos are the ABSOLUTE BEST drone reviews!
Thank you
Great video once again. tks for sharing them
@19:41, I bought this drone for $40 as my first drone. I took it outside for the first time, it waved bye bye to me and lost it in the trees lmao. (I cant wait to get the RC copters) lmao.
I got myself a second one and it only flies inside haha until I got the HS720 E. now I got two mini 2. and I love them. thinking of the mini 3 or the evo nano series.
Great reviews, amazing what you can get for so cheap nowadays. Would still like to see reviews on an actual $100 drone, maybe the one in the advertisement which I get pelted with all the time.
I have my Electronics Technician training and have looked into these kinds of products, that said, In my opinion, they are 4K, they just mean the memory for what little MPU is running it and letting people think it is the video resolution. Thanks for the recommendations for these drones, my older brother did not believe me about exactly what you said about cost and features and still wants me to ' add ' those to a $50 drone.
Great review, thanks Steve
After having a few of the cheaper drones the things that I would like to have the most are brushless motors that drive the props directly because the gears burn up on the cheap ones and after that they get added to the pile of other junk drones. I also like obstacle avoidance, but I am not that particular about the camera and I found that when I first started flying them I flew lower than I should have to operate them safely. Even the cheapest ones that I had were able to fly much higher than I usually did.
Hey Capn thanks for amazing effort and contributions! I would have been more interested seeing the Holy Stone and the like as seems like a fine line between the
Great video! I laughed out loud several times.
Thanks!
Great video. Would love to see a follow up at the C$250 price point which is right around my current max budget. I got the 4DRC M1 on a great sale after seeing your video. Sadly it's an older version which they no longer make batteries for. Now I need to find a new one to do videos of our town. Funny enough I have the HolyStone HS450 for playing with the kids. My daughter really loves that one.
Well one of the best channels out there to be EDUCATED ABOUT OUR HOBBY.
I like your 'Butter fly' collection drone displays in the background. Wild caught or farm sourced?
IKEA sourced :-)
Always very interresting and very funny!!😂
First time viewer. Great fun to watch you work. Great info. Not a owner yet but doing my research now.
Budget is much much more.
500- 1000. Seeking income options with it.
Welcome to the channel
🤣 Captain Drone Thursday night drone comedy 👍
I guess we all want a 500 dollar drone for 100 or less. It must be mind boggling to try and sort through all these new drones coming out. Thanks for the video. It is CND
Great review always looking out
Really enjoyed when you realised it wasnt connected to the control
Great review cool little drones
STEVE -- Been out of the R/C loop for several years. My question is, what has the evolution of radio gear come to at this point in time? Certainly all digital, but what radio frequencies are now popular, or only available? Back-in-the-day it was it was something like 174Mz (mid-range FM), etc. Thank you.
Informative video, I'm still using my Ryzen tello drone ! Thx!
great video, my grandson is a beginner, i had him watch your video, and he got really smart fast now he's looking hard before he buys
9:03 love there is a big 14+ stamp on the Holystone box.... but as you showed toddlers are the photo-directive
Always entertaining good info
Rockin that’s jeep pullover ! 🎉
Hi Steve My friend 😀👋👍💯. Agreed indeed. Some drones you can buy that are pretty cheap with a few bells and whistles 🧐,but no where near as good as the high priçed drones.
LoL but I have watched your great videos and sometimes you show a budget price drone with so much features its crazy 😁😂.
Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful video and God bless you and your family always 🙏
Really cool channel great information
Hi Steve.....Thanks for the "CHEAP" entertainment. It was hilarious when it went under the couch.
Bugs 3 and your own camera setup. I put a 5 watt booster on my transmitter antenna and a duel system on the drone. It went from 300 meters to 3 miles, the camera is out of an old Mavic pro. No glitches or problems. Battery will give out at 16 min 40 sec. Battery is 3S. All this for about 149.00 us. It's awesome. Flys super fast, but no, that zero, bells and whistles. No nouthin. I love it. BC
God I am cracking up!!.. the Questions..lol. . love the shirt btw
Loved this. I brought a bunch of toy drones when I started out. Great for practising the basics such as flying line of sight before spending a lot more money!
I bought the Holy Stone 440. Not having very high expectations. It actually surprised me. No its nothing like my DJI Mini 2 but I only paid a $100 US on Amazon. Definitely well worth the money.
It's nice to see attention paid to a non-camera drone. At 66, I'm old and grew up loving R/C airplanes. However, I never had much luck with them. Since I enjoy just watching from the ground whatever model is flying, I don't feel the need for FPV or other camera drones. I'm sure I don't know what I'm missing, but that's me. I got the Holy Stone HS210 and I LOVE it! (The one in this video is the HS450.) I also have the Holytone HT02 and I LOVE it as well. Man, is the HT02 ever tiny!! Both of these WILL fly outdoors if it is dead calm. If there is a tiny breeze, flying them on the highest speed setting will compensate. Indoors on the highest speed setting, oh man they really move! Neither of these has a camera but they are very inexpensive. I also live in Canada and got them from Amazon here in Canada. It boggles my mind that both of these have trim functions, so you can fine-tune them to hover in one spot. They have altitude hold, so if you simply let go of the joysticks, the drones will stop and hover in place. I can't say enough about both of these. If you want something to fly and don't need to have a camera, either one is great. Yes, they are "toy" drones, but this big kid is smitten. Also just want to say that I have no connection to the companies nor am I sponsored in any way. I'm just a satsfied customer. Best wishes to all.
Thank you for your hilarious video-Mike in Australia.
Thank you captain! Been wondering what these cheap drones were like
Nice video. And thanks for all you work. It prevented me from throwing $250 out the window.
I will save some more and for a DJI mini 3 pro, or something in that range.
Great review! I have my hubsan X4 501S and i am greatly satisfied with its performance. I'm eying for an upgrade with another Hubsan on my list. God bless you.
I watched ur video on the Holy stone hs720 e and got one and well happy with it thank you
Time 0:50. YES 😊
My real concern is if it would be blown away with high wind
I like the new Hover X1 what you think about it, is there something Similar & Better with obstacles avoidance ?
Thank You
Anyone know if the HS450 has been discontinued? I've gone crazy trying to find it and its not being sold anywhere.
that orange one is just the newer model of the infamous eachine e58 we all know and love lol
A used mini 2 is great for all those purposes. In the range of 200-300 better to buy a few of these while you learn
Hi, very good explanation! Greetings from Poland.
What do you think of the Eachine/Domibot EX5 Pro? It seems to have great range (5km), gimbal and EIS, 4k camera, 25 minutes flight time, and it is often sold for $100-130. Footage I've seen from it is very impressive anyway. I've been trying to get one but nowhere in the world has them in stock and the prices have risen a lot on them, looks like it could be discontinued.
I'm currently planning to buy the cfly faith mini based on your review of it, as it's on sale for €155 and is only slightly worse than the EX5 Pro
That yellow drone use to be $30 a year ago. Also cheap drone obstacle avoidance is a joke. Works 50/50. They also lack a top sensor and those drones get sucked up on the ceiling and stays unit it’s ready to fall down.
Good evening captain really cool video nice information
14:44 nice Sun Halo 😊
Here in Holland you do not need papers if it's lighter than 250 grams, but if it has a camera... yep, you need a certificate and needs a registration with the RDW being a pilot (LOL).
The certifications are very easy to get. I have the A1 & A3 plus the A2. That was about 200 euro and took about a couple of days studying. Makes life easier having all those papers.
I have a cheap one, very fun to fly with... only battery are small. And a bigger one, I have still to start flying with, that looks like better.
Started this to look at my roof (flat) and see if it's clogged.
I always get asked the same question when I get a new drone my one friend always ask me how fast does it go how high does it go
Good fun video Steve.
pretty amazing how far drone tech has come. I mean for 38$ you can get something that is actually usable.
As a UAS pilot that started off as a hobbyist, and initially purchased the DJI Mini 2 , these requirements infuriated me , of course everyone wants to get familiar with a drone and be pro over night. However it honestly takes a few crashes and courses to perfect the drone flying skill set , and even then there is always room for improvement … it’s like asking the salesman at Ferrari to sell you the car for the price of a Honda (no offense) you just gotta pay to play, and thus spending a few hundred dollars vs $50-$100 will get you much further along , and in reality will definitely outlast your learning curve before you can go and make a bigger purchase , once again I started on a dji Mini 2 and still find myself throwing it in my travel bag for quick trips sure it’s not my Cine 3 or even my DJI FPV drone but it honestly just works… these cheaper drones will definitely bore you in a matter of weeks as you outgrow the bad camera and sloppy flight. If you didn’t pick that up from @dronecaptain trust me it’s worth the initial investment , and he’ll you can even find ready to fly FPVs that have RTH functionality , for less then $600 these days. Many can be bought from the $350-$500 price point. Do your research and fork up a few more dollars and I can guarantee you it’ll be a hobby that you stick with for much longer then that cheaper drone option will last you.
Best video ever CAPTAIN!!!!!
Curious if either would lift an insta 360 ?
I've watched a few of your videos and I think they're darn good. I'm laughing cuz I spent too much for a toy like the Gool you bought. $60 because stupid me believed what they said. In reality mine is probably a no name version of the gool. The camera is zoomed in too far like yours and you aren't kidding that it won't hold still. Also Oklahoma is kinda known for wind which it can't deal with AT ALL. It takes all my concentration to get it to fly in anything resembling a controlled manner. Wish I had seen this video first. So, I now have a DJI Mini 2 on the way that should actually perform. Your Air 2s video made me want one but for my purposes I couldn't justify paying twice the price.
Again, love your videos and am using way too much satellite internet data to watch more. Thanks and keep it up!
All good wants, I love it. Great job Steve. Maybe they need to buy a pilot with the drone.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA THIS IS VERY TRUEEEE BROO!!! I GET THIS A LOT, THEY ALWAYS WANT THE OUT OF WORLD FEATURES BUT DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT FPV IS😂
Cool video , i just bought my first drone for cheap .E88 , iit flies good or as good as i can fly it , camera is weak , flies forrr about 7 minutes or so. I figure its a good learning how to fly one and if i enjoy it ,i will spring for a nicer one. I actually do enjoy learning how to fly it . For a novice works for now. Thanks for the video , i lnow next to nothing about drones , this video clears up a lot of questions for me , thanks.👍👍
surprised drone getting better day by day i love watching this channels video
I am watching this after the fact , I ordered a simrex x500 mini for the sole purpose of checking roofing for broken tiles , damaged flat roof felt etc , did I make a mistake ?
Good day i haven’t bought a drone yet but have you looked at the drones on Temu where they say you can buy a expensive drone from china very cheap is it possible to check those drones out thank you for your time
Does it have one button rth ?
Thank you for sharing
Great video Captain Drone hoping that is now for once and for all clear good drones cost a bit but it is for sure better to pay more if you dont want surprises greets from Amsterdam Holland
I need a drone for sending lures for fishing at sea shores The important function required are it can fly to about 300m range, strong against wind, RTH, decent payload capacity (300 grams minimum) and decent battery life. Camera is not compulsory. And cheap enough so that I won't feel bad if it tumbles into the sea. 😅. What is your recommendation?
Nothing really. Either you buy a fishing drone or you destroy the drone you bought for a few hundred dollars. See if you can find a DJI Phantom 3 used, then modify the heck out of it.
I used to buy the little mini Hubsan's to tinker with indoors when I wasn't flying the Phantoms and Mavics. Didnt realize they were bought out. I got out of it for a few years and wondered why Amazon didnt sell the Husban line any longer. Interesting.
Hubsan drones are no longer sold in the USA
A much needed video in 2023.
Tech got better but the best quality is still gonna be at least 300$
BTW the market for dji (quality) is so crazy that even a broken drone will be like 200 bucks... I know because that's how I got a spare... fixed what I could and then sent it to dji to fix the rest for around 300 in total
And also now that you made people aware of this it will sell out and get closer to 100 dollars over time
Cool little drones
Barely got into drones. I bought one for around $130-$150. It's not the greatest. Lacks a lot of features. It's 4k. But has a very limited range, and slightest object in the way will start lagging the connection. But I know what I paid for. I didn't buy the highest end drone. Nor did I think it's a good idea to do so right off the bat. I am now saving up for the Autel Evo Nano+. As it honestly seems like one of the best options for a drone. While not hitting the $1000 mark. I think I saw them on sale for around $600. But I can't imagine wanting to use a drone for your business', but only wanting to spend around $100.
We have a nonprofit tv/recording business. They aren't big at all as our town isn't big. But they tend to do the filming for businesses adds. They don't use it too much. But they have a drone that is around $20,000. I think it's an Dji Inspire or something like it. It's insane, and they rarely take it out since only one person is allowed to use it. You don't need to send $20,000 on a drone. But at least think about representing your business, and don't go cheap.
great video steve
For £100 I have a stripped down second hand Parrot Bebop2. With an XT60 soldered in so I can run a 30min battery. It is really high quality 1080p and can go to 2km away with GPS return to home. It's fun. Flying $1000 dollars worth isn't fun if it doesn't come back.
Does your tree have an electrostatic magnet field for drones? That was fun😃
The best drone channel on TH-cam 👌👌🤩🤩
One avenue you did not mention is Ebay. Having destroyed my first 2, at $40 ea, I was able to get a new Bugs 2SE for $60 including shipping. It is a much easier drone to fly, I choose the bugs by watching your 3 year old ratings for moderate, 200-400, and I shopped for used ones. I just happened to find a new, never used one. Being so old, I was the only bidder!
Excellent Video. Well Done. Very Funny. I Will Be Very Happy To Spend More Money. I Agree, Those Peope Are Not Realtors. Thank You Steve.
Nice video cool drones
As a person who's been flying drones for 15 minutes before the battery died. My first question is... Do the propellers have protectors? What resolution does the camera have? How long does the battery last, and i was told no matter what... you're going to crash!!!! $30 drone is so much fun because I've crashed it 6 times, and it's still working!!! Also I attached my 4k web camera to it because it only came with a 720p. I want to build my own drone from scratch. Do you have any suggestions on where to start?
Wasn't in the market for a real drone last summer, but I'd moved into a hillside house and wanted to see if a cheapo $50 one could manage just a bit of low-def footage of the hillside and sides of the house. Not even a chance. I did avoid hitting any cars as it careened hundreds of feet within a few seconds of launch, spinning wildly (this is after trimming indoors -- it cannot handle a whisper of breeze), so there's that.
Kinda wish I had my ancient AR Drone from 2013 ($300 then), which is the quality level I was hoping had reached the sub-$100 market at this point, and which absolutely would have been able to do the light ask I needed without flying into traffic. Which makes me think there's no "just a stable drone to fly and not take anybody's eye out" like the AR and others filled is a massive gap in the market now.
Dji mini se.... pay 300....
BTW its going away now...
Hey cap what’s the distance ?
I have a small under 100usd drone. Is it a DJi mini? No. Does it cost what a mini cost? No. Is it a lot of fun and a good gateway into the hobby? Yes.
