    As a dolphins fan:
    A) Mike McDaniel is a must keep. He wasnt perfect this year but he’s young and doing 9/10 things the right way. He’s the bright spot to build around for our future
    B) Fangio has some potential to develop this defense some more, I think we give him a season more to see how the defense can continue to develop in 2024
    C) It’s a mistake to pay Tua. Love the dude, but he is at that Kirk Cousins level of QB- certainly a starter for years to come, but he just can’t show up in big games. With the roster we have built, we shouldn’t be choking two seeds and not showing up for our playoff games. When you look at the QB play in those performances and its subpar? that’s a problem. I feel bad, there’s always some group calling for his job each season, but IMO unless he wants to meet us in the middle contract wise its just bad moneyball to sign this dude for multi-millions.
    D) I’ve known since the Titans game we were cooked
    E) I’ve known since I was born that I would never know true happiness as a sports fan. We deserve to be spoken of in the same air as the lions and browns and jets and commanders… the only difference is we’re slightly better at winning meaningless games year in and year out

Hope you know that if the fins let go of Tua you're in poverty hell for the next decade or more. He would probably go to a team with a more solid foundation of OLine and do what he does best: Pocket pass with elite timing and accuracy. @@maskedman5657 Jalen may be fine physically, but he lacks a lot of intangibles that make a great QB great. He lacks leadership and the ability to boost a teams morale and rally the troops. The last 7 weeks he's been sitting on the side lines looking dejected almost like he doesnt even want to be there. Maybe part of it is being unhappy with the coaches, but Jalen def played a part in this collapse.
I also question his judgement and inability to go through his progression. He seems to have one WR in mind before the snap and if they're not open, the play falls apart.
I dont think he lost the game for the Eagles, but also only scoring 1 TD against the Bucs isn't a good showing. He needs to improve. They're paying him top 5 QB money, and he hasnt shown that the last 7 games.

I think you have too. I'll rather be good than25+ years of what Miami was. Tho, some hard choice has to be made with contract (Hunt, Wilkins, Connor) All I think Miami need or need similar level of player for a cheap price point.
Some of the offensive issues are on Tua, But the play of the line and play calling by mike McDaniel was equal part poor. Pay your players you can afford and solidify that Oline at all cost. Increase the effectiveness of the Run game while better protection for a smaller QB!
Replace players you lose with cheaper contracts and stop gaps. The pass rushers will miss the start of the season and Van ginkal will be probably too much to retain. (I would try my best to keep AVG and bring in a mid-level player like EDGE JONATHAN GREENARD, HOUSTON TEXANS and EDGE JADEVEON CLOWNEY, BALTIMORE RAVENS)
players that won't be overly high in demand and can provide good run support and some pass rush.
Draft replacement players at DB (CB and safety) and LB as I would suspect that Baker, Ogbah and X will be cut or traded (even if they take pay cuts they will probably be gone the following years)
Sign a few older players with something to prove (like CLOWNEY) who skills may be limited but show high compatibility. Wish list player is TE but the needs are else where.

So many things that plague Miami.
First off the injuries have been plaguing them since the jump. And it really hurt them on the oline. Miami Oline ALWAYS gets tua sacked in key moments.
Second, The defense has been inconsistent all year. That has to do with injuries and putting people in different spots. But Also Vic Fangio putting players in the wrong spot for too long. My opinion is that Fangio should have BENCHED eli Apple. Hes such a trash and low effort player.
Third, Mike McDaniels makes games way too complicated at times. He chooses to pass way too often when you know for a FACT. That your offense has a great run game. Why?!!! Run tha dang ball. Your pissing off Mostert and Achane.

DCs figured out that Tua predetermines where he is going to throw the ball. If you can take away his initial choice, he doesn’t know how to read a defense to go anywhere else. Then he either gets sacked or throws a pick. His accuracy is the only saving grace. It has allowed him to fit balls into windows that other qbs can’t hit. But it only compounds the problem because it makes him seem better than he is.

The Chiefs had little issue with throwing the football (Rice/Kelce specifically), and Miami has been much more successful than the Chiefs *all season* at throwing the ball.
It seems the bigger issue was throwing 4/5 check downs and/or passes *behind* the line of scrimmage every-single-drive.
Rarely saw this team attacking the middle of the field during the Wildcard round, which was surprising considering how successfully they had managed scheme mid-field plays all season.

Titans game in the 9-8 season, Buffalo and Kansas City this year. I would not recommend sticking with him long term, even with a diminished salary as he would handicap the team by getting injured and underperforming in clutch time. He is at best another Dak or Kirk, who can get you into the playoff but that's it. Great video. Watching the Ravens beat the dolphins changed my mind about their offence. Their front line needs to be bigger, they need an all pro tight end, and they need a running back that can run through and drag people with him as he runs. They also need to alter their strategy in play calling , those timed quick release plays are great given perfect conditions and staffing levels but when you have injuries, we saw how that panned out.
Their defense had a lot of injuries but I thought played pretty well. They are fairly young and should eventually gel.
McDaniel worked on Tua's style of play, avoidance, and awareness in the pocket (I'm pretty sure Dan helped there) . Tua's contract? I would offer 3 years, keep the dollar amount real given his play so far. Losing sucks, but builds character. A good coach adjusts and finds ways to improve by strategy and personnel change. I just think with the free agents we have this year, the guys we have coming up next year, the injuries to key players like Chubb/Phillips, and the real question of how high the ceiling is for this roster, it would be borderline negligent to keep investing in a stock that's not paying dividends. They're already too far into this "window" to just blow it up at the end, with the contracts already guaranteed, the resources they used to get guys like Hill/ Chubb, and the cap situation. I believe our only choice is to run it back next year, but if I'm Chris Grier, I'm waiting until after next season to reassess where the franchise is at before making any long term plans.

His pocket presence has decreased dramatically. His first 2 seasons he was elite at extending plays (he kinda had to with the horrendous Oline he had). He was great at stepping up in the pocket and eluding sacks (least sacked QB in the league 2021 with the most QB pressures in the league). Might have something to do with the concussions but this season if he gets pressured the play is busted he just gets flustered and forgets how to play football.

If the Dolphins can't play in the cold then they are never going to be a serious playoff team and that's that. For the foreseeable future in any given year they're likely to play one or more play games in an outdoor stadium when it's freezing out. Maybe they should beg to be put in the NFC but even in the NFC there's still Lambeau in January and Philly is below freezing, both teams are likely to host playoff games in the coming years.
Basically it's "get the number one seed or give up." This severely restricts the already slim chances any team has to win a SB.

You have to think at some point that they throw the ball to tyreek too much. You can get away with it against poor teams but they got serious diminishing returns from waddle specifically this year. Tua also is very bad outside of structure if his first option is open he typically hits them in stride every time but he is not by any means even an average improviser. A pass catching TE could help them so much as it encourages more 12 personnel and can diversify their passing game without sacrificing what they do running the ball. But bottom line tyreek needs to get the ball less and Tua needs to be better with second and third reads.

The problem for Miami is simple. Tua is not a good QB. Never was in the NFL.
It isnt that they cant beat "good teams". They cant beat good DEFENSES. He has the best receivers in the game, and cant win against a good defense. It wouldnt have mattered if it was 50 degrees in KC, Tua wasnt going to win against KCs defense.
He is way over hyped, becuase he has great receivers, and a good running game to lean on. Just like SF, and competent game manager can win with those weapons, and that system. Tua is just average. His stats are a product of his receivers, not his ability.

There are Two Things that NFL fans & analysts _REFUSE_ to learn: 1) we have NEVER SEEN a QB succeed without great receivers. Aaron Rodgers last year. Patrick Mahomes _this_ year both played as well as they ever did, but their results tanked for lack of decent receivers. If you want an extreme example, Rich Gannon had *never been **_IN_* any MVP discussion. Then at age 39 won the MVP award in his only season with Jerry Rice...
Who also earned an MVP for a failed starting QB who was the back-up in San Fran for years precisely because he was so terrible.
      2) Play-calling. After just seeing it with the Eagles *_ALL_** year This Year* y'all still *want to believe that* QB success is all due to the QB's talent always.
Then how tf is Justin Herbert worse than noodle-arm Tua? Despite the fact of what you yourselves see, you always return to your previous beliefs. Yet Dak played way better than last season after _losing_ one of his main receivers (Dalton Schultz) due to play-calling only.
      Wake tf _UP!_

I don't mention Mostert since he's on the older side and probably can walk with Achane still on roster, then they can get a different #2 guy that fits the scheme. It's a question that if Tua asks for big money then should they consider letting him walk and looking at the late first round at the QBs still available? Like with Tyreek on the team he can bust any deep coverage, but with tua under center teams don't have to dedicate another man to deep coverage and can instead close down the lower areas and support the run defense on option plays. Just imagine a guy like Herbert in the system, like he'd be able to make that f it Tyreek is down there, as well as utilize the route running of waddle and their absurdly deep wr/te and RB rooms. I feel like Miami needs to pull a rams/Lions trade, take Herbert since the chargers might want to retool. I think their defense will recover and be solid enough in the next year, but really that lack of deep threat due to tuas arm really sacrifices a lot of the strengths that Miamis offense provides

Again Tua is an incredible QB, accurate all the way through, but he just can't quite yam the ball 60 yds which ends up limiting the potential plays you can run with this offense

The biggest issue is the O-Line. When good D-Lines can consistently pressure the QB with 4 men and drol 7 into coverage, every QB in the league will struggle. The offensive scheme had to completely shift after Connor Williams got injured and we faced better teams. A lot of the narratives around football are lazy takes from people that either don’t watch the team or understand football beyond the basics

Injuries on the O-line and defense depleted this team tremendously. Tua didn't get sack as much because he releases the ball so quickly. McDaniel also made mistakes by not running the ball more and not coming up with better adjustments at halftime. Second half for this team were not good. Pick the fifth-year option and see if Tua can improve in some of his deficiencies. Elite or even very good QBs are not readily available and most college QBs not always succeed at pro-level.

I think the biggest factor is O line. McDaniel has to make all these complicated sweep plays because there is essentially zero run blocking. I’m there best blocker is there FB Ingold so I think that the biggest problem. I can agree that Tau does not have a big arm but he is insanely accurate. Every WR that has played with say they have never played with a more accurate QB. If u give tua time he will kill you but if he had to improvise he will sure. The biggest strength of the dolphins should be his accuracy but because of O line they have to focus on speed

A lot of things factored into the Dolphins late swoon. First the D. When they had everyone, they were formidable. However, losing half your starters or more was devastating and it's not just being scored against. It also means being on the field longer which translates into the offense having less time to perform. On the offensive side, I think I'm right in saying only one OL that started the first games was still playing in the last game. Interesting when Tua had the A team on the line, his numbers (more points, more yards and fewer INTs) were much better. Then there were mental mistakes galore that cost us games. ie Chubb's helmet throw against Tenn. Hill's fumble TD and dropped TD against KC in Germany. That's 14 points, we lost by 7 and don't forget the bad snap. . Not counting the Raven loss, we lost by a total of 8 points in the losses against Buffalo, and Tennessee. In each we had stupid penalties that probably cost us both games. All that said, I do believe we became way too predictable on offense. That and the fact the Ds had learned our tells, made it hard on the offense, as it didn't seem we ever made adjustments. We were running the same plays in December that we ran in September under the same situations. One example. The sideline swing pass to Hill. Early in the season, it was routinely going for 10 yards or more. Late in the season, as often as not he didn't get back to the line. There's reason for that. The D knew the tells that told them what was coming. Bottom line we need to be more focused to avoid penalties and drops and more adaptive with our play calling.

Walking out of the season I have two thoughts. One is that they came into the postseason (or even really the last few regular season games) too injured to succeed. You kind of dodge the topic in this video, which is your prerogative, but I think in the process you minimize the situation. It wasn't that they were down their two best pass rushers, they were down arguably like 6 or 7 of their best 10 players on defense by the wild card round, and almost all of their offensive line starters, and then their skill position people were coming and going game to game or even play to play. This can read as an excuse and obviously injuries are an element of every team's season, but I look at it more the other way: how do we fix this, or at least try? Because we obviously have to; the defense was really clicking hard for a while and then got obliterated by injury down the stretch and we see the results of that.
The other I'm no less sad about, because I really was a believer in Tua, but I don't know if I'm confident he's good enough to treat as though he doesn't limit the team's potential anymore. Obviously worse QBs than Tua have played in or even won a Super Bowl, but you get kind of to the heart of things which is that he's going to draw The Guy money and I don't know that it makes sense to treat him as such. Breaks my heart to even think about because I love the dude. I'm hopeful as he keeps playing and practicing he'll continue elevating, because I think a big obstacle between now and his best play is confidence, but as you note, the clock is running out.

Isn't it funny how fans and media are all about draft, draft, draft, and then roster, roster, roster, but at the end of the season people think you should be just as good even though you're missing 1/3 of your starters. In essence you are playing with a different team then the one you started with.

  • @johnchedsey1306
    @johnchedsey1306 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

My overly simplistic thought is that Miami right now feels like they're built for a sprint, while the NFL season is a marathon. Miami's 2024 success is going to very much depend on the coaching staff doing a lot of work to identify their weaknesses and devise a plan in the draft and free agency to fix them. And isn't this Tua's first full season as a starter (no injuries, benchings)? QBs still do take time to develop, if you just ignore CJ Stroud wrecking expectations for all the rookie QBs next year. I'd keep Tua on the rookie deal and if he excels or shows more improvement, then you can franchise tag & extend him.
And for two years in a row, the Dolphins did have a bad time with injuries. All teams deal with this, but it certainly has not helped the team. I don't their situation is dire, but this is a critical off season.

Our offense had 8 of 11 wins against the
    Jets x2
    Patriots x2
    Chargers
    Broncos
    Giants
    Washington
    Panthers
Thoose teams had a combined win loss record of about 36 and 88 or something close .
Our offense scored about 52 points in the last four or 5 games combined in the second half of t house games down the stretch.
Running the ball up the middle or throwing to yhe right was non existent for the most part .
And every team knew the offense was geared toward a 2 second release and throw to the left left center or line of scrimmage .
We had absolutely zero adjustments which I blame that on mcdaniels .
We got alot of problems .
And we looked like deer in the headlights as soon as we get behind , no leaders.
Tua wasn't the entire problem , he just has no more to improve upon , it may have been his best season also

Miami should trade Tua away while he still has value. He will cost too much money and cripple the team salary cap wise for a QB that is a mid level starter at best. In his last three games Tua went 59/104 56.7% 609 yards 5.9 yards per attempt 4 TD 5 INT 66.55 Rating. I know those stats came against good teams, but Tua has shown that he plays poorly in big games. The Dolphins need to take what they can get this offseason since Tua played every game, removing the injury cloud that has been over his head.

The problem, one of the problems Mike McDaniels got us some early wins and that’s what you supposed to do and when defenses caught up with that scheme, we should have evolved, but we did not mike Daniel thought The scheme would carry us through the whole season and onto the Super Bowl. He has to learn to make adjustments on the fly and after halftime. I honestly feel he gets too cute and overthink it like this is definitely a running situation, but I’m going to fool them and pass just like the Seahawks did with New England in the Super Bowl on the goal line when they should have given it to Marshawn Lynch, and they didn’t fool anybody but themselves

In think Tua would flourish playing for a dome team, AFC East is not the best situation for him. He has limitations that will always be exposed by the elements in Dec/Jan. But that doesn’t mean that there can’t be a win/win for the player and the organization. MIA needs to find a trade partner.
