Angela, while I understand not wanting to know the history or value of your jewelry before you are ready to part with it, however, you probably should start some kind of valuation if it would be covered by your homeowners insurance policy in case of theft. At the very least, document the pieces with plenty of photos, descriptions and record of any markings.
