That ending speech from Nish about how the government's soap opera bullshit drama is getting in the way of doing their jobs (not that they're actually good at that job whenever they do it) is honestly an awesome moment, it's just a shame he's had to say it at all.
Your podcast cheered me up. I can't believe a man who handled the EU negotiations and the Referendum so badly is back in Government. The sooner we get the Tories out the better.
The 'make Cameron a Lord' thing actually works for Rishi. He's happy that he won't have David sitting next to him on the Commons front benches, reminding everyone the Former Guy is a foot taller than him, and more popular within his mess of a party.
Thank you for recording this minisode/emergency pod. When the alert about the sacking/appointment popped up on my phone I was hoping you'd be here to talk us through.
So, does Rishi a) have no idea what he's doing, b) think that voters will appreciate the "fan service" of bringing Cameron back, or c) is he just taking the piss?
it has been something of a surprise to me how angry I still am at Cameron. The idea that the man who gambled the country's future in an attempt to serve the interests of the Conservative party could be considered a "safe pair of hands" says more about the shitshow he midwifed than any assessment of his premiership. I also think that "blue wall" voters will remember his culpability far more than any warm feelings he could give them. I think the overriding feeling will be "Oh great, this twat again."
Maybe it's a showing of how standards have fallen when Cameron could genuinely be seen as a "safe pair of hands", not because he's good, but because he's the least shit.
Is it not possible that this power move by SB could cause the party to break into two, with one part being fairly moderate, and the other the batshit far right members?
I'm a Canadian but I love Drum and Bass and by association follow UK politics. This shit with David Cameron in this current geopolitical time is so gross.
There is a term limit of up to 5 years. The governing party can call an election any time up to that limit, when it must be called. Obviously that gives the governing party an advantage in that they can choose a time when they are most likely to win. The new term limit is reset by the election. This government is just trying to minimise how many seats it is going to lose and if it will still exist as an effective opposition when the next election happens, which must now be within 12 months.
How can you summarise this podcast? 13:10 where Nish chuckles at the phrase "pearl necklaces" as Coco makes a salient point about political cognitive bias. Love it.
In the last video, I demanded Coco wear a News Hat, whatevs that was, in the next video and I am here to demand my News Hat! Justice4NewsHat, demand News Hat now! ✊ 😂
From the outside, calling Cameron back looks to me like Sunak announcing he doesn't know what he's doing and needs to bring the adults back in to save him. But maybe I feel like that because I've always thought Sunak has big "Ryan the temp" energy.
I read the Cameron move as simply a play at taking the wind out of Braverman's hatemongering sails. It's harder for her to drum up her crazed supporters if no one is paying attention to her sacking. Not to say I like the move, but from a cynical calculating viewpoint, he might have played his hand well.
Fewer people, not less. Can we have a quick review for Americans how the jobs of home and foreign secretary work? (And why wanting to be fired makes sense?)
As an American, I'm not sure which is worse: Bringing back the guy who wagered the entire fate of his country on a referendum on the EU, or an alleged "Christian" who plotted a coup d'etat becoming Speaker of the House of Representatives.
You’re not sure which is worse?! As an Australian who is watching both play out at a distance, bringing back Cameron doesn’t even come close to the damage that Johnson could unleash, especially if Trump chucks another hissy fit after he loses the 2024 election (fingers crossed) and tries to override the election results. Cameron has already done the worst he can do, bringing him back is stupid but not dangerous to democracy.
I am curious, though. Who would you guys consider as the last great British Prime Minister? Like Sunak, Johnson, Blair, Cameron are the only ones that come to mind and I can only use the same... colourful metaphor... that Nish described them as and everyone else in between seemed to last all of 7 minutes at 10. So, who was the last great or even good PM?
06:03 Nish, I've felt that so often about Trump and his goons that I'm be an old man at you and say "you ain't seen nothin' yet, kid." Thanks for the extra 'sode - I heard the news from Phil and Max but it's not real 'til it's on the Pod. 🙂
I reckon Sunak's gambling on villain decay. He's betting it all on the general public forgetting what David "didn't actually fuck a pig but it was hilarious while we thought he had" Cameron was actually like, and instead seeing him as a remnant of the times before Boris Johnson ramped up the clownshow of incompetence and avarice. He's hoping to gain popularity points from nostalgia.

Always good to hear from Nish and Coco 😊

After 14 years in power they behave as they 'own the place'...
The Tories are playing out the Fast and Furious franchise bringing someone back from the dead. 😂
OK, I would've respected Sunak a lot more if he came out and said "Here's the new minister of foreign affairs, Vin Diesel!"
WHAT!!!! (across the pond this Canadian screeches at 2:30 am Eastern Standard Time)
When are you rescheduling Scotland's first minister?
I was expecting Philip Schofield to get out of that car.
Please can British people vote next year and not let Tories get away with this .
This pod has been educational, thank you

I read about these events in The Guardian and immediately thought, "Ooo, wonder what 'Pod Save the UK' has to say about all of this.'"
The UK government is giving the US a run for its money in the "WTAF???" department.
I'm a Canadian but I love Drum and Bass and by association follow UK politics. This shit with David Cameron in this current geopolitical time is so gross.
Thanks guys, I needed this today 😊
“No-Talent Fuck Wits” welcome to my vocabulary!!!
getting my news from TH-cam notifications
Cameron's appointment is confirmation of the lack of ability among elected MPs.
Katrina does make excellent, unfortunate, points.
How does it work in the UK with national elections? Do the tories have to call for an election in order for an election to happen? Help me!

Secured that life peerage after all, in exchange for a short stint as a downgraded former PM who left in disgrace.
Cameron bringing back the bacon then? Oh for the sake of all that's holy WTF is happening?
Why does Coco look as if she's sitting in the rain without her hair getting wet?
How can you summarise this podcast? 13:10 where Nish chuckles at the phrase "pearl necklaces" as Coco makes a salient point about political cognitive bias. Love it.
So the guy that brought us the unparalleled disaster that is Brexit, then buggered off, is back. What could possibly go wrong?
This was actually pretty funny 😂 especially the comment on Rishi looking at his talentless options and Doing a Back to the Future. 😂
Long time listener first time commenter, I actually specifically came to the video to say that Nish's rant at 25:09 is exactly me.
Rain effect around Coco’s zoom screen 👌
Love you guys❤
SUELLA GO TO HELLA...BYE BYE!!!😂
David Cameron? Wait Wut? My brain hurts.
In the last video, I demanded Coco wear a News Hat, whatevs that was, in the next video and I am here to demand my News Hat! Justice4NewsHat, demand News Hat now! ✊
😂
Following from New Zealand, what did he do with a pig?
I am a bit concerned Jeremy hunt is going to try and re animate the corpse of Margaret Thatcher cock it up and start an actual zombie apocalypse.
The UK gov is a version of The Office only no where near as funny but more tragic and no one could write such a weird screen play.
Somewhat startling to hear Coco say she's looking forward to "eating" Cameron 😱🤯🤣
Strategically, I think it is a smart move. 🤔
Well, I guess Lord Hameron had the grace to immolate himself when his plans failed… perhaps that will be infectious…
I was hoping to see Mr. O’Brien on your show. 👍

Don't know if Danny Dyer is happy to get an answer to "where is the geeza" or annoyed to see the "Twat" return

he violated a dead pigs head
I mean, he was a teenager... but... still 🤢
With Rishi "deep dish" 😂
@@1midnightfish I was a teenager and fucking a pig in the mouth never crossed my mind, so I’m not sure that covers it

Baron Porcine, Lord of the Cavity
I thought the same how bad are the Tories mps if he had to get Cameron. I think he got him to convince the world that the UK still matters
Honestly, the government is the shitty gift that keeps on giving.
Most significant london war memorial Nish? Have you heard of Trafalgar Square?
Cameron was useful in taking the spotlight from Braverman's sacking. Mission accomplished, now we have a skeleton govt. until the GE.

I think Suella whatever her name is the worst, she’s taken a leaf out of Trump’s playbook
Election please 😁
Lock Braverman up!
Chain her to the Cenotaph, she can protect it 24/7.
please mention corbyn to job lol
All the uk politics pods doing emergency WTF is David Cameron doing in that line up episodes

WTF 😅😅😅😅😅😅
What time do you call this 😋
Lord pork poker
I am worried about your country, guys. A political vacuum such as yours is never good. Sucks up the dregs. Cameron could just be the start. .
