  • We cover quick easy tips to help ensure your trailer makes a good connection to your vehicle. We have XMT Construction's 2017 Chevy Silverado at the shop and we make a few minor adjustments to make a better connection.
Vehicles that tow large trailers and weight rely on the trailer's braking system to assist slowing down the vehicle. If a trailer connector is not performing properly your braking and/ or signals may be compromised. Don't let this happen to you.

This is good advice, very timely as the the ‘Holiday Warriors’ will be getting their units ready, and a clear and concise video for something that everyone that tows ‘should’ be doing, but usually doesn’t. As an electrician I have been doing this for my boat trailer religiously and also agree with the clear film application vs the dielectric grease for helping to stop corrosion! Keep up the great videos!

WyrGuy2 Nice to hear a fellow professional agrees. I live dielectric grease but not really for the trailer side. It should work fine for someone that just tows on weekends for recreation.

Excellent video! After checking continuity with the test light as you did, disconnect the battery to insure you don't short any circuits while cleaning the contacts. This saves you replacing fuses if you accidentally short contacts. You can also use a traditional test light with a ground lead connected directly to trailer connector ground pin.
