I bought one of those cover for the 4 pin plugs and put it on backwards on the trailer connector, works great to keep it dry cost under $2, great video thanks for sharing.
I like to use De-Oxit contact cleaner on low voltage DC connections. Pricey but it cleans, lubes and protects. It doesn't take much to stop 12V unfortunately.
Used this method (a gun cleaning brush) along with some mil-spec CLP gun cleaner/lubricant today, and it worked like a champ. Thanks for the idea @redbarnboats!
Warren, Great to see a video from you, there is some great information in this one on cleaning the pins and sockets on trailer connections. I really like the 17 caliber cleaning brush, it would work well for that. I thing to think about is when I used to drive long haul big trucks, the last tractor that I owned was a 359 long nose Pete I used an electric conducting grease to keep the pins sealed and making contact. Looking forward to new videos, is there going to be a new boat soon? Andre
Nice tip. I will try this on my trailers. I suggest using a cap on the plugs and some dielectric grease. By the way on a DC circuit as in car wiring there is no neutral, just ground. Neutral is for AC circuits. Thanks for the video.
The1700Rider dielectric grease is an insulator NOT a conductor. If you put it on electrical connectors you're actually making the problem worse because the metal can't make a connection. Its a common misconception that dielectric grease makes a better electrical connection which is incorrect. The purpose of dielectric grease is to protect boots and connectors from voltage leaks and to protect them from drying out or corroding.
I guess it's a trip to the outdoor shop! I also use electrical conducting grease like amdaylight. Hope you are not having any problems with the wildfires in your area. Stay safe!
Ha ha ha..yes I admit I used the time line to sample quicker...having the problem not going away with my usual fixes, I was starting to think it was something else..the trailer is older than my truck..40 yr old thing.

Very helpful. Thanks
You are brilliant. I was trying to think of some kind of brush to clean my trailer connector.
That worked..I didn't have a little pipe cleaner but a piece from my old dremel kit did the trick . The truck plug with cap, is over 25yrs old
great ideas, thanks
Great tips. Look forward to seeing more videos as you get them. Thx.

hi i was watching your video u said the 17 calbrier would works fine for cleaning out 4 pin connectors so what would that be inches the 17 calabiter
Thanks for the tip. Too bad it took 8 minutes into the video to get to the point.

How bout baking soda and water? Works wonders on battery terminals.
Thanks
