Nahhh.... man I just literally installed a $40 Amazon echo dot inside my wall nice and flush. Only noticeable when she's activated which looks super dope in the man cave. this thing has excellent sound quality. the remaining features Apple can bring them later in future software updates. `hardware is top-notch.

Almost a year later an most of the features are still missing in software. Save your money and buy something else, especially when there are other devices that do so much more than this HomePod. No wonder why there is so many sales on these devices. Plus Apple put their Apple Music on Amazon's Echo devices. There goes the rumors of Apple making a cheaper HomePod. The cheaper HomePod is an Amazon Echo.
Now almost two years since Apple release their one and only HomePod. It's kind of both funny and sad that you said Apple can update the software later on. When is Apple going to release some major software updates for their HomePod? I honestly wonder if you have now changed you mind about the HomePod since it's almost two years old now.

Sound quality seems great. The fact that it only works with iOS devices is just ridiculous though. As someone who has multiple devices, both iOS and Android and switches between them quite often it just seems ridiculous.

not overpriced for what is is. They're advertising it as a speaker first, smart device second. It sounds better than anything else in it's price range, including the Google Home Max that's $400 more.
@@ethanb6584 haha, they aren't selling well. 11 months from when they first went out n sale. Apple themselves dropped the price because they are not selling well. Everyone knows Apple doesn't drop their prices. Yet they dropped the price of these limited functionality HomePods.
I knew these things were going to fail especially when they are lacking in so many areas compared to the competition. Save your money and don't buy these crappy HomePods.
taypuc31 I want to say this up front for your needs and may be it’s about the sound and if your heavy in the Apple eco system it’s probably on point. For me the google for $50 your getting a device that you can use on Android and Apple. I have two phones one business (iPhone)the other personal (android). Also, you have access to TH-cam, your not tied to one operating system, you have voice recognition, you can make phone calls and the Sound my not be better but it’s on par. I will pay $50 for what I need. $350 to $400 is nice price hit for my entertainment budget for the month. I have other things I like doing for entertainment and if I can’t get what I really need, the money will stay in my pocket. So I in all it’s what you need it for and how you operate. I got the google smart speaker and I’m a big fan and paired it with two other wireless speakers, serious sounds going on in the crib now
HomePod just received an update and can now make calls just wondering if you recommend this speaker now that Siri has a lot more functionality on this speaker.

I encourage everyone to listen to one in person, as well as do the research that distinguishes it from other home speakers. The tech inside is insane, and sounds impressive at any angle, in any room. Something any other home speaker is far behind in. The complete lack of distortion is impressive at the least. I’m not an apple fan boy, just a music and audio lover. And this is a fantastic product, regardless who makes it. Sounds way more clean than my Bose sound touch 20 III, especially off center.

*If it was 100 bucks I wouldn't get it. Siri is deaf. IO got a 3rd gen echo dot, and Alexa hears me when I am in another room clearly. She also understands me when I talk real low. My voice is all bass so it's hard to pick up. Cortana also understands me... So if 2 AI's can and Apple is the most expensive, why can't it understand me or anyone I know? I'll stick with Alexa. I already have a home theater system in all my rooms so the Homepods great speakers are unnecessary. Thanks for a great review as always, I checked out your review on my echo before I purchased it!*

To be honest I think I would like the home pod, I have mostly apple products and I pretty much only use Apple Music for my music... but its true, it needs more updates. and I have to say, I can excuse no aux input... but I can't excuse no bluetooth input... Thats just too exclusive... but who knows maybe they'll come out with a better model this next September.

Great vid flossy. Wanted to alert to a big issue with HomePod. Check out the discussion threads on the Apple Support Community. Countless complaints about the HomePod can't play or recognize Apple Music playlists.......how can they get that wrong? I own the HomePod bc its in the "ecosystem." Playlists are the basics of music streaming. Can't believe Apple could mess that up. Asking Siri to play a playlist should be pretty much standard. Think they need to fix that much sooner than stereo playing and multi-room play.
Take the entire speaker, pluck it, file it to the side. I'll stick with my hifi setup rather than some bunk no battery havin tiny speaker that I can't even bring with me to the beach

Years ago, I tried getting into the Apple ecosystem, but I've failed. Always had Apple products, but I never tried to lock myself into some sort of an ecosystem. Things like this this speaker, when I back off, because it's too exclusive and can't be used without an iphone and no bluetooth, no nfc and there isn't even an external usb or lightning port, this is a no go.
So called smart speaker? Haha you can't even make calls, has no Bluetooth, doesn't work with Androids. #Dumbpod

It seems like a cop out by saying that everything that it can’t do will be fixed by a software update. Maybe it will, but why would I consider this until that happens? I run with a lot of Apple products but. I will pass on this one. Your example of getting the flight information was a great example of how Google is so far ahead of Siri

Look at Amazon echo first gen, folks had the same complaints and they've been making it better with each new version. That's the risk of buying a first gen product, but I understand what you're saying, that's why I said this could never be my main speaker; but the sound makes up for the shortcomings to me. Minus the price of course lmao🤣
