A day at Buckland Abbey

A wonderful warm day, charming place in Devon, gardens teeming with life and an unexpected bonus of my late spring visit to Buckland Abbey.
Buckland Abbey is known as a home of famous Sir Francis Drake who was the first Englishman to circumnavigate the globe and was able to purchase Buckland Abbey using a fraction of the treasure from the voyage. His later role in the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 cemented his fame.
