  • Building a one-of-a-kind Piper STOL-ish Airplane
Looking forward to having my new EarthX battery for a lot of flying next year. Check out EarthX below,

In this video, you will see several steps that went into getting this Piper PA-16 Clipper ready for display at Oshkosh. I'm calling it STOL-ish as it still is a short-wing Piper which is not your typical STOL plane. With the upgraded Lycoming O-320 160 HP engine and the 3-blade ground adjustable propeller, it should perform very well.

Don't miss the engine build later in the video! What color do you think the exhaust should be? (Cerakote options)

Great to see the progress on STOL-ish. Nice personal touch on the instrument panel. I look forward to seeing it finished and flying!

Thanks. Yes the instrument panel is a work of art, happy with how it turned out. The idea of having my old home airport on it was a last minute decision.
Hopeful I’ll break 200’ on takeoffs and landings with some practice 🤞

Can't wait for more!!! Beautiful, clean work is inspiring!! Now, what about that runway? You have it done yet, grass seed down and growing in? Lol Ha Ha. Your're a man living my dream!! Thanks for the vids!

Thanks for the feedback. The runway is actually on the radar for this weekend. I have 3 oak trees I really need to drop!
It’s definitely not completed yet, but slowly chipping away at it. 😁

It would be helpful if you showed us how you cleaned the wings. What products, techniques, etc.

I’m planning to show more of the wing process including more fabric steps, rib stitching all the way through spraying it. Hobby shirt to include more of the cleaning process as well.
I used a light scotch bright pad, aluminum etch and then rinsed with the distilled water.
