  • In this video we visit Armadale, a station along the Cranbourne, Frankston, and Pakenham lines in the inner south eastern suburb of Armadale. The station is served by trains on the Frankston Line, while trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines run express through this station. On the Frankston Line we see a mixture of Comeng, Siemens, and X'trapolis trains. On the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines we see... Comeng and Siemens trains! That's right! No HCMT's to be seen!
On the weekend 27th & 28th May 2023 buses were replacing trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines beyond Caulfield due to various project works. With all the new High Capacity Metro Trains' stuck stabled in various yards within the occupation area beyond Calfield, Metro rostered a small fleet of Comeng and Siemens trains to operate the line between Flinders Street and Caulfield. This marks the first return of Comeng and Siemens trains to regular services along the line since December 2022 (even if it's only a small section of the line). Throughout the video we see some Comeng trains and a lone Siemens train running express through Armadale station.
Armadale is one of the four MATH stations, being Malvern, Armadale, Toorak, and Hawksburn. All four of these stations opened on the same day, being the 7th May 1879 when the line from South Yarra to Oakleigh was built. All four stations were rebuilt to their current configurations in 1914 when the line between South Yarra and Caulfield was regraded and quadruplicated. As a result all four of these stations share the same design.

I was going to check out the new Union station last weekend, but thought seeing Comeng and Siemens trains on the Cranbourne & Pakenham lines was much more interesting. I hope to visit in the near future but until then enjoy this video.

Awesome video! Made my day seeing these lucky Comeng and Siemens sets taking turns to run on the Dandy tracks!!
Really wish I could’ve ridden one or someone filmed a journey for TH-cam.
Hopefully there’s a few more oddities in the near future :)

I've ridden on the HCMT on my way to Narre Warren to visit The Hobbyman, they were an ok ride, miles better than the X'trapolis fleet but not as smooth as the Siemens fleet

And the HCMT trains are no where near as nostalgic as the Comeng and Siemens fleet

@ThebusofdoomFSX great video man 🙂. I remember there being quite a lot of Comeng and Siemens Nexas trains on the Caufield group a while back (2021) do these trains operate on the Northern Lines as well as Frankston and Sandringham Lines mainly nowadays? Also, do you know the reason why the Sandringham Line no longer goes through the city loop and only terminates at Flinders Street?

Timetable change, but Sandringham trains will run out to Werribee/Williamstown in the not too distant future.

Pretty cool to have Comeng and Siemens trains running Pakenham/Cranbourne services again, at least in some form. Do you know if they were using the City Loop or just running direct to and from Flinders St?

Why comeng trains horn in this video sounds like a rubber chicken.
