    Just a note, the size of the outlet on these blowers is a significant factor when comparing them. Velocity of the air output is inversely proportional to the size of the duct. i.e. the larger the duct size the slower the velocity for the same volumetric flow rate. So we can deduce that flow rate is king, and then a better duct size and shape, like a letterbox attachment would give you the best of all performance by giving an even higher velocity at the output. Notice that the black and decker has a much smaller more rectangular outlet. If you add that to the Worx blower it would perform even better. Just imho as an engineer. And thanks for the great video comparison, definitely getting a leaf blower now.

    • @AllenReinecke
      @AllenReinecke หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also as an engineer... the ideal configuration is high CFM AND high speed. However, those come at a hefty price.
      Reducing the nozzle diameter on a high CFM blower will increase velocity by maybe 15 % but will also reduce the cfm as the system is throttled with the more restrictive nozzle. So, you need a high cfm blower to start with, which will maintain a reasonable amount of air flow after throttling.
      Too much throttling though will cause the blower fan to stall.
      I actually use a 525cfm 110 mph blower with a 3 inch nozzle for general drying, and a smaller and more maneuverable,160 mph workshop blower to clear out the crevices, grille, seals, etc.
      If your paint is not protected, air blow drying is a waste of time. If coated, with good beading, blow drying makes the process much quicker.

    I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

    For those of you worried about leaf blowers not having a filter: blowing filtered air through dirty air to dry your car is like blowing filtered Champaign through sewer water into your mouth. If you don't want dirty air to impact your car, don't use the leaf blower in a dirty environment.

    If you want to dry your car with a leaf blower or any blower (MetroVac/BigBoi) you need at least some sort of protection doesn’t matter if its spray sealant/wax spray/ wax coating /ceramic coating it just needs to have some sort of hydrophobic properties for the blower to blast the water off the car.
    AND YES i think that the CFM (if you want really good look at something from 700+ CFM) , matters more than the speed, dont make the same mistake and look at the speed, just like buying a pressure washer looking at the PSI instead of looking at GPM.

    The makita UB1103 has 203 MPH, does this is enough to dry car easily?

      With 145 CFM, the UB1103 is terrible for this compared to dozens of cordless competitors.

    I don't understand. Why accelerate evaporation with a blower? What's the hurry?
    I understand toweling, because the towel soaks up the water's minerals and contaminants that would otherwise be left behind during evaporation that cause water spots. I don't understand how fast evaporation is better than slow evaporation. Are we expecting it to blow the contaminated liquid water off the surface, like wiping with airflow? Does it do more of that than evaporating?
    I don't detail my beater cars, but on the occasion that I wash a decent car, I want to towel it as quickly as I can, hopefully in the shade, before any water starts to dry. Seems like a blower would evaporate quite a bit of water in comparison, no?

    special nozzle would increase the success, you can 3D print one that fits the blower

    Awesome video man. Does the worx have a filter though because I’m worried that it might pick up fine particles and embed them into the cars paint.

    Electric or battery powered lawn equipment is mostly a joke. I use a handheld gas powered Stihl blower that blows 159 mph and I don't have to worry about any cords getting tangled or tripping over. It's a lot easier to move around a car

    Thanks for explaining the CFM vs MPH! I was wondering about if there was really a big difference!
    The black & decker or really ANY leaf blower is fine for blowing out water from badging, door handles, mirrors, wheels, grilles, lights and door jambs. Drying the ENTIRE car with a blower is just going a little overboard!

    If you're going to wash your car with a sponge or cloth just dry it with a towel.

    • @hlcepeda
      @hlcepeda 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. There's also the issue of the Worx (and B&D) sucking in dust, debris and flying insects (neither blower can do what they do with any sort of fine filter on their inlets), then blasting that at 110+ mph onto the paint.

    • @muckeyn
      @muckeyn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@hlcepeda that would only apply somewhere that had a lot of debris and bugs, such as a rural place. A clean(ish) driveway isn’t going to have much to suck up, especially if it’s already wet from the wash. Besides, you want to blow the water downwards and off the paint so the intake is up in the air at least shoulder height. If there is that much debris and bugs in the air than there would probably be an issue with all of it settling on the paint anyway.
