I’m 65 years old now, and my daddy raised me on Westerns. And Ben Johnson, Harry Carry, Jr and John Wayne are some of my very favorites. I loved how "The Rifleman" used as many of the western actors we loved as they could. Paul Fix was Marshall Micah, of course, and father-in-law to Harry in real life. Harry often appeared as a cavalry officer and always a person young Mark could admire. Great episodes.
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon is one of my all time favorites. With Ben Johnson's line, "I'm not paid to think." and my favorite line in the whole picture is Harry Carey Jr. saying "I'll take a chaw."

Growing up watching Westerns all my life with my grandfather, father and now with my kids...these men and many of the people they discussed are a warm, familiar part of my earliest memories. Listening to Ben and Harry... they did not disappoint...they are the real deal...as Ben says of the advice he has patterned his life after ("honesty, realism" and respect"). Likewise, their stories also did not disappoint giving great context to the films and actors they worked with. Thank you for sharing this.

Wow. I love these behind the scenes type of interviews, and especially with people like Ben Johnson and Harry Carey Jr. It was refreshing to see how these two old professionals were so modest. I found this video very captivating. I guess it's because I grew up in the 50's and 60's watching these men perform along side John Wayne, in particular. 5 Stars!!!
Two great men!! I especially liked Ben. Western movies never date so they never look like old films. I loved John Wayne and all of these movie heroes. They are really popular here in England too! Great entertainment! Dave.
What an absolute treasure! The genuine and sincere respect that they have for one another is awesome to see. I have watched countless movies that they were in.
Back in 1983 I was working in the electrical crew of a movie Ben was on. We got delayed in a pop up rain shower and took shelter out of the rain. i happened to have a hank of clothes line on me used to tie up cable with. While stuck there for about half an hour Ben showed me some rope tricks, one in particular where with one hand he would whip a knot into the rope. Then he taught me how to throw a lariat and lasso livestock. It was all new to me though I was a rider back then but by no means a cowhand. He was a very kind and patient man who loved the cowboy life. I worked on a lot of movies and commercials in my career and few had these types of moments. It's still a fond memory nearly 40 years later.

Thank you so much. Son and Dobe were about my favorite Hollywood figures, when the camera wasn't running. And they were of course great talents, when the camera WAS running.
I lift my hat in the deepest respect for these two gentlemen and cowboys.
No more great stars like these two. Down to earth. Humble and honest. Last of our great movie stars.
Ben Johnson was one of a kind. I could listen to his stories for hours.
Oh this was so great, I loved watching these two great men telling their stories, thanks so much
When John Wayne held his arm at the end of The Searchers, and Harry Carey's wife saw it, she cried.
2 of my favorite cowboy actors ! They helped make the JW movies the memorable classics that they are ! So many movies were influenced by these 2 gentlemen ! Thank you guys for fond memories ! RIP !
What a massive library of stories about the real Hollywood these two were ... wonderful
Real men who made some of the greatest westerns ever. Both class acts!!!
What a brilliant conversation . Absolutely enthralling.
So much fun to hear and see their memories!!! I have seen every one of their movies!!! Actually, I have seen their movies dozens of times!!!🥰❣️🥰
5 Stars!!!
I met Ben once…very nice guy….told me he was a lucky guy to have played in those movies. He was very tall!
Was anybody in more westerns than Ben Johnson? What a career. He seemed to fit in so well, whatever film he was in.
Probably not.
Two of my favorite actors. What a pleasure seeing them and hearing some of their stories.
Two voices that can't be mistaken for anyone else.
I just thought that about Barry Corbin too. You know it is him and cannot wait to watch him perform.

I’m so glad I found this. Proud you guys captured this with both Ben & Doby together. Both gone now but still amount the greats. I think better all around people and actors than what we get today. Thank you for producing this.
Ben sponsored a roping championship named after him every year in my hometown Rosenberg , Texas , Fort Bend County...he was quite a gentleman..drew big crowds...he was a good actor , loved his movies...
What wonderful Orchestra's, the unique sounds of the great studio and Hollywood Orchestra's.
Very enjoyable and interesting to hear from these two icons.
i WAS TENDING BAR IN OMAHA NE when Ben Johnson and guest sat down for lunch. It was such an honor to serve him.
What a great interview with two wonderful old-timers !! I have loved these guys since I was a kid and just wished the interview had lasted longer than it did. I was so glad to have found this. I was really touched at how old Ben playfully reaches out his hand to that child at the end. They were both real men, tough, humorous, and honest - in a word, real. Thank you for posting this.
Truly loved this 😁😁👍🏽👍🏽😃
And they didn't need to curse to prove how tough they were ... I really like how Ben Johnson told them he wasn't going to do any cussing in that movie .
Two of my all-time favorite actors.
Many thanks for airing this. Two real men. Lots of good memories. 👍
What a genuine man in every regard. We should all be so lucky to have half his stuff. Just amazing.
Wow. This interview is pure gold. Thanks for posting it.
Thank you for showing this! Two of my heroes! I've read Carey Jr's book and he does a good job of describing his days with the original tough guys. But listening to these two humble and talented men makes me want to go back where things made sense.
shawn ... I'm 63 and I would love to turn back the clock to a time where things made sense and where people even wanted to talk on the phone like they used to instead of this ridiculous texting back and forth .
We're living in real weird times
I loved the interview and I love their movies. Wow! They are some of my favorite western actors. Thanks for sharing! 👍 😁 😇 🥰 😷 😊 👍
Absolutely loved these two and the film's they were in, may they rest in peace, 🙏 great video thanks 🖤
This just popped up on my computer and I have to say - it was interesting, funny and one of the most enjoyable interviews I have ever seen.. I'm a real Western fan and have seen both of these gentlemen both in movies and TV.. Thanks for sharing!!
What an amazing pair of legends. The encyclopedia of information inside the heads of these two men. Thank you for sharing.
This is one of the best interviews I have seen. It didn't seem like it lasted gor an hour because it was so entertaining.
Absolutely wonderful..could listen to these guys all day long..so genuine and funny..they knew showbusiness inside out
Love both,. Been a follower of Ben since he did The Mighty Joe Young. Harry Carey Jr. Is a marvelous actor.
I love Ben Johnson. His role in The Last Picture Show was amazing. He seemed like a very genuine and good person.
I wish they made more movies like Picture Show.
Absolutely loved❤️their stories. John Ford was an absolute bully on a set. But, off it, he was a softie at heart. R.I.P. all.
ed3432 , can you tell us more about him being a softie offset ...

That was so much fun. I did not want to stop. I could have lisstened to then for 12 hours straight and not got bored or tired.
Ben Johnson is a LEGEND in Western Movie Life. Cowboy Up🤠👍🐎🐎🐎🐃🐂🐃🐄🐂🐄🐃🐂🐃
Two of the best. Brings back memories to hear them talk. Ben Johnson has played a lot of my favorite characters in my favorite movies.
Devil cat studios… thank you kind people… wonderfully excellent…. Boycott the Super Bowl!
awesome interview / story time. Blessings on their souls.
This was truly amazing to watch. I have been a big fan of both of them for many many years. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
My father worked in Hollywood in the 50's to 1966. I met Ben Jonson was a kid and he was the real deal. My dad worked for John Ford and Sam Comer - He acted for Republic studios. He worked with Ben and thought Harry Carey was a fantastic actor and true pioneer of acting..
I grew up watching these men in old Westerns on TV in the 60's. We will never see their like again!
Wonderful, grew up with these movies.
These guys were movie icons and legends ! Both in their professional and personal lives. Great interview with great stories to boot !
Glad that I grew up with such giants. Great row models.
These two were Just as anyone else that you might know Kind and humble.
