I have run into L.Q. a couple of times in the supermarket. He was so gracious and took time to talk to me. It meant a lot that he did that and says so much about his character. His scene in Casino is the best and he wrote it himself. He is a living legend.
L Q Jones is always a pleasure, whether from his acting or his story telling. James Coburn was a great actor but Ben Johnson has always been and always will be one of my favorites! He and John Wayne made such a good team!
I love the story of Peter Bogdonovich asking him to do The Last Picture Show. Ben's initial response...too many lines Peter too many lines...lol. Thankfully he changed his mind. Ben just wanted to ride a horse in movies didn't like to talk that much on or off screen.
I met James Coburn twice. My favorite movie as a kid was The Magnificent Seven. I adored the man. When I finally met him in person 34 years later, he did not disappoint. What a wonderful man.
L.Q. Jones was great in everything he did. Whether he played the good guy, the bad guy or everything in between, he was always totally believable. Glad to see he is doing well. Thanks L.Q. for the lifetime of entertainment.
Great screen presence. After all those years of playing bad guys and cowboys, it was very cool to see him in Casino, dressed up a little better but still a cowboy running things from behind the scenes. A scene stealer for sure. Thank you sir for your MANY great performances.
L Q Jones- he put the "boy" in "cowboy". Forever in my mind as a brash, fearless, enthusiastic, lovable, scalawagging, all around funny and *mostly* good guy who fit into any movie role he was cast in, kinda like Larry of the Three stooges- nobody quite knew what the heck it was he did, but they did know the act just wouldn't be the same without him; that rare and undefinable gift of "presence", you know it when you see it.☺
Some how, L. Q. Jones managed to be a likeable bad guy in so many roles. Think that's what I liked about him early on. He said Colburn was the best. Just look in the mirror, L. Q. Films and TV programs would not have been the same without your contribution.
I couldn't agree more. LQ is special. Almost 30 years ago, when I met my wife, we went to see The Mask of Zorro. When "The Legendary Three-Fingered Jack" rolled down the rail cart in that movie, my wife said "Ohhh I love that guy!!" We bonded even more, I told her I loved him too..lol Now we call him "our guy". He was great in Casino too, and he stole the movie prairie home companion. He is a legend. I am grateful that Robert Word has him on this channel so often. I say More, Bravo, More!
I met L.Q several years ago at a western festival. Cheyenne star Clint Walker was also there and it was fun to hear them talk about costarring in the first hour long tv western. Jones really enjoys visiting with fans and he's a great story teller. He gives great hugs (and autographs) too!!
I just came across this , he was a legendary actor and had an unbelievable career. Thanks for posting this ✌️

@Wes McGee My Dad and his Brother rodeo'd during the late 30's - 40's into the early 50's. They knew Ben well. Before my Dad passed, they used to go to the National Finals in Vegas every year to see all the old timers. The last year they went I told them to get Ben's Autograph for me. They brought back a picture of My Dad, My Mother and Ben. Man they were looking old, but I love that picture they took. And he signed it for me. The Cowboys loved him because he was a cowboy. My Uncle Bill, Homer Pettigrew, Ben and my Father Sonny Hancock all passed away within a year or so of each other. They are all in the Cowboy hall of fame in Oklahoma City. I sure miss listening to those old stories. I never met Ben myself. But I am glad i asked for that picture.

What they feel is important, and why it's important that they remembered the story, because you can tell it informed how the interview subject thought about themselves too.
Passed away July 9th 2022. Thank you for your work.
James Coburn was so great in the westerns like 'the Magnificent 7'. I even went to the movie theater to see the James Bond parody "In like Flint" and, "Duck you Sucker" with Rod Steiger. Great interview. Thanks Rob.
Always loved the Flint movies. Also Water Hole no. 3 stands out. It's funny because of Monsters Inc. my son knows him, Mr. Waternoose 😂
I'm so glad I purchased the James Coburn movie collection dvd set in Barnes & Noble way back in mid-90's. And many others. I honestly never watch current shows other than PBS. Everything else I watch is the classics... movies tv stations and my vast dvd collection.
Love LQ Jones. Beldon's monthly trips into medicine bow on payday are great even though he keeps dropping his left shoulder, as I'm binge watching the Virginian now , again! Cant believe how good he looks for 94ish!!!! Would be an honor to meet him . Thanks for this. More please. More L.Q. - he's a treasure from an era nearly totally gone. Hell, He can come live on my farm with my 4 morgans! Lol would love to know what he's forgotten about westerns! Thanx Rob . Would he be willing to do a longer more in depth interview? Please♥️😀
I love him, too, ss67. He's done four shows with us already. Check out THE WILD BUNCH episode and our Morgan Woodward Memorial. L.Q. & Morgan were roommates at U of Texas.
@@AWordonWesterns thankyou Rob. I will surely look those up. Clu Gallagher and Robert Fuller are a couple more I'll look for too. Fairly new to your channel, found it last year. Love what you do. Thanks and keep it up. What you are doing is priceless work. We're fortunate to have you to document and keep these heroes of so many alive forever.
