Well, a piece of history. When you compare the times, politics, Americans my people were living through the best. Times have certainly changed for the worse.
Stories. What many don't have today and never will. Only us old folk have stories.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for sharing this video these guys are the Best!!! If you have ever watched them in action. Watch Rio Grand it is one of my favorites. All the actors in this movie is over the top. My favorite!!!
REALLY ENJOYED THAT!!!
Two fine actor's, don't make them like that anymore, an era gone by
Priceless I always admired the character acting done by both men down thru the years A bone to pick with the late Ben John s comment on One Eyed Jacks and Marlon Brando The work turned in by Brando and the complete perfection turned in by every single character actor in the film perfection Brando was the director who demanded the breath taking performances done by each actor I think that this was Ben Johnson s best work by far and Brando drove him to it Brando did Ben Johnson a favor and Jonson and Jonson will never forgive him for it RIP
Ben Johnson’s devoted wife had just passed away in 1994 before this interview. You can see that Ben Johnson lost some of his joy and smile. I read his biography and he took her passing very hard. He kept really busy to ward off the grief and passed a year after this interview in 1996.
Ben Johnson had the deadliest eyes in movie history. There's someone you wouldn't want to cross. What a nice guy when he was interviewed and not in character. They lived through incredible days, which we will not see again.
Rest in Peace ben you are a true man I watch all the films I'm 64 now you are part of my life
Those guys were my heros!
I love Ben Johnson he’s skilled and handsome and a good God fearing person. Ide rate him as a favorite of mine, like John Wayne. We are blessed with all of his movies & his Christian choice not to say foul language. May God bless him and his memory. After I heard Ben Johnson announce the name of the movie, “Wagon Master -1950 - I went to Prime Video and paid for streaming of that movie on a purchase price so I could watch them. So far I love it, to watch Ben Johnson, when he was just about 25years old? Great viewing! Our Lord has blessed us all .
Harry (DOBE) was my frined for over 40 years he was a good man. Went on set with him couple times. He had Ben Johnson come to his house with me there, I know I was set up. But I didn't care to0 have my favorite two people there was something else. Had chance to be extra in Mask and Tombstone and I turned it down. Harry never understood it I told him I was camera shy. I regret the Tomstone set though. When Ben and Dobe passed away it was very said for me We not onjly lost 2 great actors, I lost two good friends
Great hearing the stories they have
I loved watching these great actors. I knew Dobe, and his family. His mother was Ollie Carey my good friend. She was my neighbor. She played the part of Mrs. Jorgenson on the movie "The Searchers". We would get together and plan parties and I was very fortunate to meet many of her friends who were well known. I met Ben Johnson and his wife at one of the parties. I felt very privileged to meet such a fine horseman and actor.
Love this interview. I was raised on westerns and these two gentlemen were in quite a few of them. Thank you.
Ben could read the New York city phone book and he would have my attention 😂
The stunt riding was over the top!!
Absolutely fabulous - I want to be a cowboy - always did - 67 now, a bit too late. Also, to be fair there aren't many ranches in Yorkshire 🇬🇧 🤦♂️
This was so wonderfully funny and inspiring! I just love Ben and Dobe. Great interview and such low-key humor. Wow. Thanks for sharing this. My must-see movie list just got longer! I wish someone had asked them about playing the "horse traders" from Wagon Master again in Rio Grande---Sandy and Travis. I'm so curious about which part of their story came first? Did they join the Cavalry AFTER they escorted the Mormons (which would mean they apparently didn't marry the cute gals they were smitten with in Wagon Master) or before (if so, it meant they were trading/stealing horses before WM and Travis was somehow embroiled killing someone). Anybody know the chronology? Thanks again.
Several dozen hotels in Moab now.
Back in 1988, I was in my mid thirties and living and working in the Monterey/Carmel area. During that fall I had booked reservations at a ranch north of Chico CA for a weekend of quail hunting. My buddy canceled at the last minute. The next morning as I was by myself, the owner of the ranch asked me if I didn't mind being paired with an "older" hunter. This is how I spent a delightful weekend with someone I had grown respecting and admiring. Ben was twice my age but acted young, full of energy and humor. Great memories
Holy moly!!! That's terrific!!!
Just great to hear these two recollect these stories - wonderful stuff!
Ben sponsored a roping championship named after him every year in my hometown Rosenberg , Texas , Fort Bend County...he was quite a gentleman..drew big crowds...he was a good actor , loved his movies...
I just love him my self .John Wayne was right about him.
Brilliant!!!!
WOW! Ben Johnson, 58:49 Harry Carry, and Jr... As a kid, as man... these guys rode out first, before the COLOR's... before the Officer's... before the Column. These guy's rode out first! Hell bent for leather when they had to... in every movie they were in! RIP to American Hero's... Probably... Or American dreams.
What a great day for you both.
Ben Johson was a great man.
Best of actors and human beings that are great.
Ben Johnson was one of the greatest. Never forgot his raising and Hollywood didn’t change him. Awesome, well rounded man 🇺🇸
Wonderful!
I came across this by accident. I'm sitting on the balcony of my seniors apartment with my coffee and laughing until the tears come. I'm sure my neighbours will think I've lost it finally. Two great gentlemen with great stories that took me back to my own upbringing. We worked hard but we laughed a lot and oh, the tricks we pulled on each other. I went from horseback to hot rods to flying planes and met great people along the way who never forgot to have fun along their journey.
Appreciated....most enjoyable and believable from two real gents.
How could I knot listen 😊American
I liked Ben Johnson in the sacketts
Excellent
I met Ben once…very nice guy….told me he was a lucky guy to have played in those movies. He was very tall!
All 3 of John Fords western movies were great with John Wayne..great listening both of these actors. I grew up.with both of them and i am 69 now..miss these great old time westerns
God blessed them❤❤❤❤
Love those guys ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where in the world did that AMERICA go clean and pristine I'm in my middle 70s and vividly remember those days and can testify to the wonderful country that was compared to the cesspit being sold under the guise of impossible equality
A most enjoyable hour of interview. They were two great Americans.
Does my heart good to hear the real human beings from that business. I was born during the very early days of their careers so I didn't get to see some the early stuff but those movies were durable. I eventually did see them all. Great memories here and even better stories. Thanks
I met Ben at the Ben Johnson memorial street roping, as you probably know his dad was a world champion steer roper, in around 69 or 70 I was 10 yrs old in pawhuska Oklahoma, my gramps knew him and made sure I shook his hand, I watched him in all those western movies, so I was excited to meet him, a very nice man he was!🐴🌟👍
Loved Ben Johnson...
At least the second time i've watched this. What a great interview.
Their a dieing breed .we have no more
Really enjoyed this sit down. Thanks for posting it!
Fantastic interviews!
Ben and Harry Jr. Seemed like some good fellas. Also i like Ward Bond who in the Movie called " The Quiet Man" with John Wayne. He played the part of the Irish Priest . I loved the westerns alot, but that Movie has to be in my top 5 all time. (Sorry i went off topic) , well never see the character of actors and actresses as they had in these times. Not to say anything bad about the ones who act today, just different times i Guess
