James Brown performs and dances to "Night Train" to a live audience on TAMI Show.
James Brown recorded "Night Train" with his band in 1961. His performance replaced the original lyrics of the song with a shouted list of cities on his East Coast touring itinerary. The song became a hit, charting #5 R&B and #35 Pop.
The TAMI Show is a 1964 concert that included performances by numerous popular rock and roll and R&B musicians from the United States and England. TAMI stood for both "Teenage Awards Music International" and "Teen Age Music International".
The concert was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 28 and 29, 1964. Free tickets were distributed to local high school students. The best footage from each of the two concert dates was edited into the film, which was released on December 29, 1964. The TAMI Show is particularly well known for James Brown's performance featuring his legendary dance moves and explosive energy.
    Video transcript:
I want, I want. A night train. Got it good. I got it good. I got it good. Let me be. What are we going to do now. Baltimore, Maryland, Philadelphia, New York City. Take it home. New Orleans. The home of the blues. One more time for the night train. Are you ready for the night train? Are you ready for the night train? Are you ready for the night train? Are you ready for the night train? Night, night, night, night, night, night, night, night. One more time for the night train. Are you ready for the night train? Night, night, night, night, night, night, train.

After he left the stage, he turned to the following act (The Rolling Stones) and said:
    ..."Welcome to America."
After this performance, Mick Jagger would refer to him as "King James."
    Rightfully so.

Nice story, completely bullshit. The stones already friends with James Brown. There was no animosity between them, and they had nothing to do with the order of the acts. In fact, the stones didn’t go on until two hours later, they emptied the whole studio and had a whole new crowd

The TAMI show is the first music movie to be put in theaters nationwide. TAMI stands for Teenage America Music international. He did four songs he came out with "Out of Sight," then went into "Prisoner of love" then "Please Please Please" and ended up with Nigh train. He killed the show the Rolling Stones didn't even want to come out after his performance. watch the DVD The TAMI show for the full concert.

T.A.M.I. Show is a 1964 concert film released by American International Pictures.[1] It includes performances by numerous popular rock and roll and R&B musicians from the United States and England. The concert was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 28 and 29, 1964. Free tickets were distributed to local high school students. The acronym "T.A.M.I." was used inconsistently in the show's publicity to mean both "Teenage Awards Music International" and "Teen Age Music International".

Yeah he was 31 years old here in 1964, so this isn’t even the fastest he’s ever dance there’s really no footage of him in his early or mid 20s. And he’s definitely a much better dancer than any of the other three Famous Flames. Great reaction by the way!

Yes we saw it. Going back to the sixties . That is called soul, and Brown, Mr Dynamite, blewed up everyones mind back then. This was death serious business. Awakening. Nobody was laughing but hypnotized. This is no backgroud music, but energy pumped into the future. Till today Brown is the measure.
Btw who are the people you are talking to, trying to explain James Brown and his music. Where were you all the time?

The Rolling Stones "had" to follow him as the next group on stage. The concery was an amazing array of talent. The Stines, Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, I believe Smoky Robinson and Marvin Gaye, Gerry and the Pacemakers...Jan and Dean, more.

The T.A.M.I Show stood for Teen Age Music International which was a Concert Movie to raise Money for Music Education. James was already a Star in the R & B Crowd since the 1950's but when he did this Movie it was to more of an Integrated Crowd and the Kids went beserk. He has influenced so many folks from Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Prince, and even upstaged Little Richard at his own Show. He bought the house down so bad that The Rolling Stones almost didn't go on and they were the last act on the Show.

The band BETTER had not missed even a single beat or James would fine them $5. Seriously. As the story's been told by countless band members throughout the years, if you missed a beat James would hear it and you'd get $5 for each time you EF'd up deducted from your week's pay. And James literally NEVER missed a beat.

I believe he only went in this hard because they removed him from the last performance to the 2nd to last and put The Rolling Stones as the last performance, so The Rolling Stones are searching his entire performance back stage and they were terrified to go on after this, Mick Jagger came out trying to dance like James brown but it definitely wasn’t as smooth, on beat, and he looked drunk,
