Wow, i am trying to recreate it and i was struggling with 2:20 because when i would rotate z axis it rotated totally different, not like in your video, but after retrying fo the 3rd time i noticed that on Rotate Euler it should have been Local, not Object. So now i am happy to continue recreating. Blender has so many little details which make the work go in the totally opposite direction, so i should be attentive. Thank you
big congrats, this tutorial is amazing covering different purposes for geo nodes. I've been remixing this theory with other tuts to get my own results and from my personal experience (in case it is useful), I'd rather have a float input named Rose bloom connected to several "map range" nodes , which control each of the fields where you keyframed values. This way you define the limits and you are able to control the whole animation with just an slider making it more customizable in case you make more flowers and you want to offset the anim. Keep rocking it pal!
Thanks! yeah I tried using math nodes to do the keyframing but I ran into the issue of the node names not showing up in graph editor channels and it got too confusing with a bunch of same name channels haha
Absolutely brilliant use of blender. This is exactly the kind of high-yield tutorial I love! Feels cheap to call it tutorial, this is a masterclass. I was thinking to myself "I bet someone has made a proper rose out of geometry nodes" and looked it up, because I new it was possible; I figured I would have to do a bunch of work to get a proper rose nonetheless. Buuut... I wasn't expecting it to be this in-depth, or so thoughtful about the actual anatomy of the rose. You've practical done all of the work already! I can only imagine how many tweaks this took, how much experimentation! Now I can add a whole field of roses and they'll just look... right!
I really wish I knew what you are pressing. I spent half an hour figuring out to press shift + a. I am not new to blender but Nodes are something I haven't messed with because I have been avoiding it because of how messy it is. I also need to use with a mesh over curves as I am learning for hard surface modeling. I have adhd and I can't tell you how frustrating nodes are as they don't seem to be put together in any logical sense with lines going in every direction. Thank you for the tutorial, I appreciate it even though I am struggling through it.
Man, I saw the previews on blendermarket and it's just incredible. Can you make a video on how to set up compositions with the camera, fill in the background of the scene and create the appropriate lighting?
Thank you! Yeah, I hope to get one out soon but in short its a Bezier curve, with thickness and UV in geometry nodes. Then just instanced the growing leaf and thorns and just a trim curve to grow it
Thanks! working on the stamen & stems video, should be out soon but in the mean time it is just a geometry nodes curve with a trim curve and the flower instanced on top
Hey, I paid for and downloaded the file but it didn't open. Just wondering if you can post the co-ordinates of your petals so that it works when you make your own petals?
I don't think so for this type of setup, I tried but I couldn't get cloth sims to work with geometry nodes, it can work on instances but then you cant control the position and shape of them while the sim is running. Another work around is creating a flower with petals and then using force fields to make it bloom, I'm working on some tests right now hopefully that should be the next video
@@cheuqs Thanks for your answer ! I worked on a flower setup in C4D with cloth attached to folding splines, it kinda worked but was heavy as hell with all the petals and couldn't prevent some intersections no matter what. Was wondering what could be possible in Blender. Will still learn many things from your video :)
Hello, thanks so much for the tutorial; yes I have a question. Once I've done the animation in geometry nodes etc. How can I export it in glb? Or in alemebic? Is it possible?
Things that helped me were to just build and learn in small subjects, scaling, rotate, transform and instancing, I honestly don't know much about geometry nodes outside of instancing but just that option opens a ton of doors to what I can make. Just think of anything you are going to build in stages
Sorry, beginner question. How do you add the keyframes? I see an insert keyframe option, but nothing appears on the timeline when I click on it. Thanks!
Do you have any method to convert this geometry node into 1 object with animation included, I have some problems when duplicating It several times even when I'm using collection instances, Blender still crashes somehow. Thank you for such amazing tutorial mate
Can you make some tuturial about your lighting, i really love your lighting it's like redshift and octain, please make some tuturial with project base lighting
This is such an amazing tutorial, thank you so much! I have a question: (I'm using your petals for context) in the material , when I click on shader editor to add the nodes you recommend I don't see all the other stuff you have on your end, am I missing a step (I'm very new to 3D so I'm learning as I go)
the tutorial is good but I can't for the life of me make the rose resemble yours, I feel like I need to have the exact copies of the curve and the petal, my guess is the scale and rotation play a big role on how the flower is going to end up looking
Hi, new sub here, love your videos! I’m not a beginner but your videos still taught me a ton! I have a question-can you go further in depth on why you chose 137.5 (Fibonacci spiral) for your rotation angle as opposed to the other rotation angles? Reason being I’ve been trying to combine math and plant spirals and have no idea where to start other than googling “petal growing angle” lmao. I just don’t know which angles to pick and how to input that data into geometry nodes. Sorry, it’s probably a really simple solution but I am a total newbie when it comes to math and blender
I honestly couldn't tell you the best as I'm not that good at math either haha, but basically the rotation 137.5 is the rotation of each petal on the z axis, this is what they grow like in nature along with some other plants. Other angles I showed you could use for different flowers or stem growth on a plant depends on what you would be making really. To use the other angles just multiply the angle by 57 (x*57) I'm not sure why it's 57 but has something to do with blenders rotation on combine XYZ, here's the Bad Normals video I learned it from th-cam.com/video/uslTaqiv_7k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DPl01OuS1hzQYt0d&t=1038

Hey! i just bought your Blooming Flowers Asset Pack and i'm having some trouble keyframing the flower animation (i need to set them to start growing at a certain keyframe and i don't know how), and i tried everything, if you could help with that it would be great. Thank you!
Hey thanks! to change the bloom time of the animation you just need to select the flower and open up the geometry nodes panel, hover over all the nodes and press (A) to select all then in the timeline you can move all those keyframes back or forth to change the bloom time. May need to do the same for the stem growth for some
Nice to meet you! I'm interested in growing plants, so I watched your video. It was very inspiring and I wanted to learn. However, when I insert the petals I made into the nodes, they don't work. There's not even a pivot position. It doesn't work on the first rotation. The shape of the flower is not good, it's lumpy, and it doesn't bloom beautifully. Why is that?
I don't know if you've already found a solution, but if not you need to add a "realize to instance" node at the very end before the output node , than its as simple as right clicking the path and"convert to mesh"
Yes you can, might be a bit more laggy but if you need just export the flower selected and make sure on the Alembic export settings you click everything on object options except for use schema & triangulate unless you need those
@@cheuqs I have tried, but alembic takes only leaves and disabling petals with branches. Should I select leaves that are seperate ? I am using your asset pack, but I want to export it fully to unreal using alembic.
@@BohdanBerezhnov Ah ok yeah if its multiple objects in one setup (branch, leaf etc.) you just need to add a realize geometry node at the end of the setup and it should be able to full export. Seems like it exports 2 of the same mesh for me, so id just delete 1 to avoid any render/shader bugs

I tried to import to unreal and was successful but seems there are jagged edges, I'm not too familiar with unreal so not sure about that but the animation plays when clicking the simulate/play button

Thank you! That really helped! @@cheuqs ❤
Perfects! And how to do stem?
hi! so basically we bought the pack you made and i'm wondering how i could make the petals thicker on the bottom and thinner on the top for 3D printing? could you possibly help?
Thanks! you can try to add a solidify modifier to the petal object that's being instanced, or you could try to realize instances and apply the geometry nodes to make the flower a real object and select the petal material and add thickness to that
@@cheuqs thank you :)
how do I turn this into a 3d mesh for 3D printing ? I tried convert to mesh but it disappears
You just need to realize the instances at the end of the node system, then right click and it will be able to be converted to a mesh
