Still blows my mind that this performance took place on the same date/evening as Gacharic Spin's Tour Tomaranai 2018 Final, both at the same venue (Tokyo Dome City Hall), both performances captured for posterity and subsequently released on DVD. Gacha's portion of the evening would sadly mark Mai's final performance with the band and her departure shortly thereafter, followed a year later with the arrivals of both Angie and Yuri, thereby making Gacharic Spin a Six Piece once again and for the first time since Nenne's departure in 2017.✌️❤️🤘🇦🇺
Anybody that claims that Gacharic Spin hasn't touched on Metal in quite the same manner as Doll$boxx did on Doll's Apartment or High-Spec is utter bullshit. Just the same bunch of nitwits who claim that Tomo-Zo doesn't get enough airtime throughout Gacha's discography. Music Battler, Sekira Liar, Digital Fiction, Jyoshiki Destroyer & Renai Switch are just a few examples where Tomo-Zo pulls out some face melting solos and which will have anyone either throwing up the horns, punching the air or banging their heads. You Homegnome, Wave, Myself and many others loyal to Gacharic Spin know that they're not only one of the most musically diverse bands to come out of Japan or amongst their contemporaries, but on the face of the planet, full stop. Love Band-Maid, Scandal, Nemophila, Lovebites, Bridear, Otoboke Beaver, Sokoninaru and so many other great bands/artists from the land of the rising sun (too many to mention here) but nobody kills the stage quite like Gacharic Spin. While the rest of the band pretty much assumed/remained in character throughout the entirety of this performance and in most of the High-Spec MV's (scowls on their faces, zero smiles), it appears as though Tomo-Zo was the only one who didn't get the memo, as there are many instances where she can't help but flash that trademark thousand watt smile of hers. God love her.✌️❤️🤘🌏
To be fair, they were very colorful on their full album from 2012, they were basically litteral dolls in packaging on the album art, and musically relatively poppy/closer to GS. I have seen people speculating that Miku might have seen Doll$boxx maid outfit MV for "Take My Chance" which made her think of creating the concept of Band-Maid, it's probably not true though. But yes, they were more dark and closer to metal on their EP from 2017 and this live show. I think it works pretty good as a contrast for the GS members although the old sound was more of a contrast for Fuki compared to Light Bringer/Unlucky Morpheus. Fuki's solo stuff has more poppy tracks as well.
No POP here. Doll$Boxx is heavier than GSpin, That's why they are my favorite band, besides Band Maid. How about Doll$ Boxx opening up for Band Maid. Or vice versa.

Love the subdivisions throughout this - favourite moment is when it transitions into the chorus and Oreo's piano just takes off along with the drums.
