That's how my mono green food deck used to work... I once reached 15 wins while only getting 2 in progress of my "attack with creatures" quest. Thing is, as soon as my board was big enough, they just conceded, so i never actually got to attack. At one point I started saying I was playing control, cause I mean... it kinda was.
It do be like that sometimes, if the opponent doesn't play any sweepers they know they can't handle that board presence, and a Tyvar about to go ultimate
@@MoonWatcher. Yeah. Thats one thing I dislike about magic tho... Too many situations comes down to "Do they have a boardwipe or not". I wish it was a bit more creative than that
I think there are many reasons why we love your channel, LVD. First and foremost, because of your deckbuilding skill and your calm understated demeanor. But second, I think it's because you're living the dream. Great opening hands, lands when you need them, and opponents who are *NOT* playing the exact perfect cards to defeat you 100% of the time. The rest of us never experience this, so we get to live vicariously through you. :D
Glad you enjoyed! Could try a land ramp deck with Druid Class and cards like Happen on a Glade, but that feels less consistent than mana creatures despite the upside of dodging removal.
Just so you know, you can see what cards the opponent had in exile after the game ends if you "View Battlefield" and then click the exile pile. Would have solved the mystery of what the last opponent was doing.
If you pause at around 18:09 the cards flip up right as they enter exile when the opponent concedes. Surprisingly it looks like a Doomskar and Behold the Multiverse, so the second card they foretold was probably the Doomskar.
I also checked at the end. This feature is implemented because in real life settings after a game you have to reveal all face down cards in play or foretold cards to prove that they are actually foretell (/morph) cards. On Arena you obviously can't cheat the system, but since the rule exists, the game allows you to look. LVDs last opponent had 2 Dual strike and a crush the weak foretold (and an epiphany).. They must've drawn the crush the weak the turn prior to their concession, otherwise they could have messed him up good.
Seriously the best MTG channel out there! Your insightful gameplay really changed the way I approach the game. Thinking about how I can have the most mana efficient turns and theorizing what the opponent might have in their hand, just to name a few.
This video is super old but it really warms my heart to see legenvd using funny little cards like the tarrasque... And still getting wins! Suboptimal jank is the best way to play 😂
Why did wizards decide that the tarrasque, the most dangerous creature known to man, that by itself is considered an apocalypse event, can't trample over an insect
My guess is balance Think of the amount of treasure generation in Standard, if people were slamming an untargetable 10/10 that attacks immediately on turn 6, that would be almost guaranteed lights out in two turns with trample
Love how good you are on deckbuilding. Am I struggling on how to build a viable elf deck. Golgari or Mono-G. 1st issue is how to go around mass removal so not losing steam, using targeted discard to remove the mass removal from hand or just card draw to keep up against control 2nd issue is to find solid wincons with all that mana except for Warmaster, so i do not get so dependent of 1 card to finish them off (liked Tarrasque, but I think it is not it yet).
Of all the Elf tribal lists in Standard 2022, which one do you think is the most powerful? There's Mono Green that you just showcased here; there's Green/Black with access to some removal and some other powerful cards (like Harald Unites the Elves and Harald himself); and there's also the Green/Blue version with Reflections of Littjara (that you played earlier this year and would require some updating). I ask this because I have a personal passion for Elves in MTG and would like your opinion on it. As always, thank you for being the best creator of Magic videos out there. EDIT: Oh, another thing: do you think Varis could fit in this deck? Maybe a couple copies replacing Elven Ambush?
I like Circle of Moon Druid, which is harder to fit into a Black/Green build at the moment given the lack of good dual lands. Splashing Blue for Reflections is an option or adding cards like Varis over Terrasque.
Don't love it here as it doesn't help with casting cards like Tarrasque. Could be useful with instant speed abilities like Warmaster, but probably too narrow for not being an Elf.
Your opponent had 2 Dual strike and a crush the weak foretold.. They must've drawn the crush the weak the turn prior to their concession, otherwise they could have messed you up good.
your videos are calm and soothing, also educational and fun, but i am curious, why don't you play ranked? you are the only casual mode player content creator i watch, you could (probably) hit significantly higher views if your content is ranked, even only keywords in the titles could make a difference regarding that. thank you for the quality content, god bless. (as i said i'm just curious, i am neither willing nor capable to question you in an arrogant way)
Both mill opponents played really loose as well. The crabs are just too dirdly for this meta if you want to play mill. Much better to play mill as a win condition in a control shell where you just surprise mill for 20+ with a kicked cacophony and then dualstrike a hideous laughter the following turn.
Matchmaker is rigged so certain decks literally always run into other certain decks. I play against non stop blue black removal tribal with all my green decks or green red.
The fact Tarrasque does not have trample is completely bs. At least they could've allowed his fight ability to do damage to opponent if the Tarrasque's Power exceeds the creature's toughness he fights and give the guy a pseudo trample if the problem is on the static ability.
The pseudotrample could actually be kinda powerful, you could target the low-toughness creatures and get a lot of free damage in. Then again, it does cost 9 mana, so it should be powerful.
@@NStripleseven Yeah, I know. Both from flavor and technical perspective it doesn't make much sense a big creature with almost 10 CMC like a Dinosaur do not have trample. oh Tarrasque, the trampleless 10/10
Seriously, the Tarrasque was not done justice in this set.

A pretty powerful deck TBH.
On to the next one
The fact The Tarrasque is a dinosaur is huge flavor fail. Something like Avatar would be more appropriate
It also would have made sense to be Indestructible, but at least it's still very cool, and a great use of Ward in a design
I stuck a Tarrasque in your Vorpal Skeleton deck by replacing a vorpal. I saw better results with it instead of Vorpal.
Vorpal Sword is more of an achievement unlocked kind of card than actually a good card.
The middle of the video sure is something xD
The Tarrasce doesn't even get a chance...
Cara Elf’s are nuts, I don’t have enough to make a good deck, so I’ve never seen from this said until now. But sheesh cheese and rice
