"Skwatchi", like the Sasquatch lol. You called them Sky-Watchi... I was in this test and look forward to those that come in the future; having the devs in the voice channel with us while we're testing is really helpful and fun. I ended up dying multiple times and didn't realize that the items in your inventory (including un-equipped tools) get left on your corpse. Unfortunately you only have a marker for your last corpse so you better keep track of where you die if you don't want to go on a self-imposed quest of gathering materials to make your tools again! That took up the majority of the test time for me but it was actually a really cool way to explore the mechanics of the game.
Old fashioned corpse running! I hadn't realised that - the health you get was so generous I never got close to dying. I didn't test whether there's fall damage though - I need to jump off a cliff next time!
I was reading the patch notes for tomorrow's test and am intrigued to see the two new planets - and shocked to see that the building tool is coming already! I suppose that's the nature of video coverage at this early stage - it is out of date fast. Hopefully this one serves as basic information for those that may be curious beyond the trailers.
@@napyet Testers actually saw the block building in a test last month. We tested many features in isolation one at a time. For example, testers went a solid two weeks doing nothing but movement and chat. Now we're at the stage of turning on multiple features at once so we can see how they interact.
Tell me more about the griefing j/k. I was a SWG obsessive and I'm skeptical Stars Reach will live up to my high expectations but I'm following with interest. Thanks for the video!
Hi! Raph Koster talked a bit about avoiding griefing with regard to PVP in a chat they did recently - I posted a video about it here th-cam.com/video/gTPsJlnwVs8/w-d-xo.html If you mean specifically regarding the terrain manipulation I will look at asking the devs
@@napyet That was a more a tongue in cheek comment but it did get thinking about how much destruction can be caused to the landscape and what you could get up to maliciously. Thanks for the link, it's good to hear some of these questions answered.
@@ezoray Its been one of the things I've been thinking about a lot with these very craftable worlds. Bad behaviour will always be there - so it's not worth locking it down to avoid that - but I do wonder if they have any specifics in place to discourage griefing outside PVP
@@napyet I'd forgotten I did get a reply back about this from Raph to the effect that players can restrict what can be done in areas of the map they control, and loosen these restrictions if they want to make things more interesting. I'd like to see forcing pvp on griefers in a CityWarn type manner but that could be used for griefing in itself. I hope the game does accommodate more challenging areas as a safe pve world doesn't really appeal to me. I think Raph mentioned somewhere that areas in space could be opened up for pvp and I hope something along those lines is implemented at some point.
@@ezoray That's great info, thanks! PVP has never been something I'm really into but I know it's a big part of why people play these types of games. I heard them mentioning those regions where players set the rules - so that would seem like an opportunity for people who really want some crazy PVP action!
if you holster your weapon/tool, you should be able to climb out a hole easily. but while holding something, your character doesn't quite want to climb, most times. combat imho is better in "mouselook mode" - you can prett "T" to bring up a crosshair, locked to the center of the screen. in that mode, pressing lmb to shoot is pretty natural
Great Review. I am a fully committed skeptic of this game and Raph Koster's attempt to (who plays the roles of Pitch man and Money collector) cash in on his cult hero status with his own version of the BDSSE
Thanks for attending the test, and for the video! Glad you found it fun :)
It was great to dip my toe in - I might lurk a bit more in the future and just focus on submitting bug reports! Haven't done that in ages
@@napyet Tomorrow's test will be a new build with a bunch of new features and fixes. We usually have those every two weeks.

@@raphkoster4490 Of course I was in an 8-hour class on that day...sigh...
This was so well done!
thanks for watching!
Interesting footage, Fair Narration and overall presentation. I'm still playing Star Wars Galaxies Restriction 3, This may replace it in the future!
Thanks for watching Moose - it's one to watch for Galaxies players for sure
A well-executed review. I, too, have been watching the MMO-scape for the last decade feeling relatively underwhelmed.
I think a lot of it is understandable with game budgets being what they are companies are worried about taking too many risks
My wife is praying for social classes like the dancers in SWG.

Thanks for the tips hooby!
If housing is added, doesn't terraforming allow others a lot of griefing potential against those with homes?
Pc/mobile?
Ugh, it's tab targeting.
I want real time action like Wildstar, Guild Wars, or Pso2
can't play with those kind of graphics . /puke
