  • One of the most special moments in my athletic career was watching Tom Osborne characterize his 25 years of coaching success with the players, coaches and staff that cherished their time working for him. We went to work everyday and tried to not let Tom down because he was that special a leader! The kind of leadership that inspires everyone to overachieve on and off the field. There can be no bigger coaching shoes to fill than those left behind by Tom Osborne at Nebraska and Bob Devaney before him. Integrity, Being Part Of Something Bigger Than Self, Coaching Consistency, Winning Tradition, Fan Support, Mental Toughness, Positive Attitude, Work Ethic, Walk-On Development, Competitive Attitude, Innovation, Support Services & Facilities were all key attributes behind three decades of dominace!

I love Dr. Tom. He created who I was not only as a winner through life, but gave me a work ethic I use till this day.

      LOL. Great man?
      * 25 years of mostly, woulda, coulda, shoulda.
      * chose his replacement, who was forced out, after 42-7, then 16-12
      * chose Pelini, who amounted to nothing when it mattered.
      * was part of the reason Frost was chosen.
      * and then there was the Phllips debacle.
The man is a black cloud over the university if you consider his influence and the mostly lack of success when it mattered.

No, it was health related. I believe he was dealing with A-Fib.
