Hello Toddster 😊
We are looking forward to reliving our Now in Lao tour. We will hopefully get our videos out when we get back from OZ.
It was a amazing adventure and something we will always remember. Again, thanks for the memories 😊.
You're in Oz.. for Riel!? 😝 See what I did there 😋
Was the highlight of our trip having you guys ride along. Even if ya's did get scared at one point and decided to walk that stretch 😏😆
Love to do it again one day 👍
Safe travels
Thanks again for the video of this quaint little village. I can't help but feel bad for the young man who lost most of his arm to a bomb. Thank you for the black and white stills and with E 19 down, E 20 is on the way and I'll be here.
Great final day. At least Mina had fun for little while in the river. Children there know when to start and stop. Must be every day thing. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thanks for the good start into a sunday. Greetings from germany
Hey Alfa! 👋
Hi Neenee, Mina and Todd, Thanks for compiling another fascinating vlog. I loved that man's story and the way he has adapted his life to be able to not only survive but to thrive with only one hand. It is alarming to think that there is still unexploded ordinance still being found and presenting a risk to the unwary. Poor Mina being unable to have her swim because of mining and gravel digging further upstream, upsetting the natural balance of the river, and the lifestyle of the villages. As always great stills to end with. God bless you all😀❤🙏
I notice Sop Lao doesn't seem to have trash every where like so many places. Do you know anything about that?
Ah! The Sunday morning fix..
What an idyllic place, and lovely people.
I saw a group from Lao - Oz today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They help schools in Lao and teach ethinic Lao kids Lao language and culture. They will be in Lao until the 24th. Maybe an opportunity for a vlog for you. They have a web site. Vicki knows about and loves Now in Lao. Happy to hear you are being safe. 😃Skip
Most of us are right handed. He lost his right arm. I guess it is very difficult to learn writing, cutting, eating, screwing with the left hand! There also must be trauma and nightmares. Thank you very very much for supporting him! Ngam jai
Another great one m8...really gets me in the heart. Such lovely people. Wished I could understand this world we all share.
Thanks mate
Everyone has opinions but no one truly understands and I believe never will the way it's all going pear shaped sadly. Bushyboy Oz.
not going to jump in a boat with a drunk captain at my age, especially with a young daughter. Wise decision Todd. Thanks for the episode. 🙏
Well mate another cracking video in a cracking place,
Hey Todd, Great job done, very interesting to see that village and the story from the hue who lost his lower arm. Take care Nev
Hi Todd, Neene and Mina
I look forward to all your vlogs.
Being an old butcher, slaughterman, boner.
Gee that was a hard watch with thay guy cleaning the pig, I guess they have to do it their way.
As you would know we used to scald the pig in an old bathtub, much much easier and cleans the pig up nicely.
Cheers to you all from Hobart Tasmania 🎉❤🎉❤
I got to use those aluminum spoons when I was in Laos. All the Hmong people have them.
good day guys hope you are all well
Thats so nice Japan donates,i didnt realize that.Im in tears everytime i watch your channel,
Sometimes happiniess sometimes sad.I truely have much love for Lous.Cheers mate from Chaing Mai.
Yes, Japan is a huge help to Laos. They just go about it without having to brag about it. Glad you enjoy the channel, thank you. Hope it's not to smokey in Chiang Mai right now.. 🙏

🤗🙏🏼!
Cute village. Thank you for the great video.
Take care.
Good morning Todd.
Another fantastic video, especially that van Morrison track ! Who is it doing the cover ?
Thanks Kev 👍
Stayed awake for this Sunday Arvo video 😂 ..........looks like Neenee & Mina just got the washing done before the water turned brown 😂.............what lovely friendly ppl in these villages 😊
I would also have trouble crossing that wood bridge. The vibration of the motorbikes and missing wood slats do not help someone scared of heights.
With so many broken timbers it was hard to trust it at all!

Hi Todd,,excellent video! The area is so beautiful in a kind a subtle way,,that the more you see it the more it grows on you. The village itself was very interesting,,tidy,,lovely. I love to see all the ingenious solutions people come up with to solve various problems. I was noticing some wooden siding on one house,,I'd say someone had a portable sawmill with a siding attachment. Thanks for talking with the man that lost a hand when he was a kid. He seems to be a talented guy. I think you handled giving him a bit of money perfectly. Id think that he'd be a great candidate for a prosthetic device,,would probably really benefit him with farming. Hearing his story,,made the problem with unexploded ordnance more real. My word,,the list of countries Lao,Cambodia, Myanmar,,Vietnam,,all over the balkens,,now Ukraine,, at least a dozen countries in Africa,, Afghanistan,,Iraq,, 4 or 5 countries in South America. The list is endless. The people that work for the removal outfits,,are true heroes,,that term is too easily used on to many people,,but those people who go into harms way to protect people,,truly are the definition of heroes. Thanks brother ❤ Ttyl,,,Marlon
I would guess that the boards were either sawed by two people pulling the blade back and forth or by using a chain saw freehand.
@@user-ok5lb5fp7y I know how sawing lumber works. I've been in and around the timber business all my life. My Grandpa and his brother started logging in 1938 .The siding i was looking at was either purchased or made with a siding attachment on a portable sawmill. They could have bought a cheap Chinese mill. It's a one man job. I've seen amazing cuts made freehand,,but those boards were too perfect. The boards are twice as thick on bottom side ,,so those would have been impossible to freehand. Maybe they have a jig or attachment for their old circular saws. Who knows,,Lao,,Hmong people are extremely skilled!
Hey Todd I really enjoyed the video, just for your information with my experience living in Asia, to answer your question about broken wood pieces on top of the bridge.... this usually happens when the farmers tried to walk with their buffaloes across the Bridge, and I have witnessed it a few times
Ahh ok. Yeah.. that would be a lot of weight on a very tiny area resulting in what we saw. Cheers 👍
Exactly.... Males (bulls) can weigh up to 1200 kilograms and females (cows) 800 kilograms🐃,, that's why at one stage they were going to banned high heels on airlines, because the floor is made of a honeycomb,
I'm heading up to a gold mining village in a couple of weeks, really looking forward to seeing and having a go at the way they go about it all 👍
Hope you have a great time! 👍
Beyond unfortunate that there are not environmental protections, fines and compensation for mining.
As for the US war on Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the bombs and chemicals, it was genocidal and criminal with no reparations.
I have a ohoto from a Vietnamese bar and restaurant that is a museum to US bombs and weapons. They have not forgotten but are amazingly "forgiving".
Hi Todd and family. Love the video.
I'm travelling from Vientiane to Chiang Mai via the Mekong River, in mid October . My question what is the average temperature ?
Around the low to mid 30s 👌
Even to this day . The people of the Hmong Village have to live with unexploded bombs? Am I correct on this ? The people of the riverside village are so sweet. Todd, when you talk to the locals in Hmong ? do think they are happy were they are or would rather be someplace else? All the best🙏🙏 Jim and Harriet
Jim, we're not going to see the people of Laos safe in many villages throughout the country in our life times as Less than 10% of the UXO's have been cleared.
laotiantimes.com/2024/01/18/landmines-remain-obstacle-to-rural-life-in-laos-injures-six-while-farming/
"..upwards of 20,000 Laotians have been killed or injured by unexploded ordnance (UXO) since the end of the war"

@@NowinLao shouldn't we all thank terroristamerikka for their crimes or what?
I noticed your left hand brake light isn't working on your carrier.
Roger that 👍
HEY guys, love your work! Brilliant. Regarding UXO and your own personal travels and safety, is this something you are particularly conscious of avoiding? For instance, wandering off established tracks in forested or overgrown areas? Best wishes and regards to you all 👍
Will answer this in a video Alpha, thanks 👍
The dirty water would be from the miners wash plants, they would be pumping the water out of the river to wash their paydirt material and they don't have a tailings or settling pond to catch the dirty water it's running directly back into the river, that's my guess
Gold mining and mercury poisoning
was thinking the same thing i hope not but probably thats what happening. and they are swimming in it drinking the ground water washing clothes in it good GOD i hope they arent using it.
The views in this area are fantastic ..Its a real heart stopper to think what the locals have to adapt too with unexploded Munitions . Its a shit state of affairs , the local community are heroes they just do not know it !!!!!
Operation Barrel Role: From 14 December 1964 and 29 March 1973 during the Vietnam War US Air Force dropped 260 million bombs on Laos. More than in the entire WW2
This is why my heart is with these people, how could this have happened?😪
but but but Germany loves amerikka still!
@@wiccanfpv if you are amerikkan, you are selling BS!
@@_Alfa.Bravo_ sure sweetie repeating hollywood propaganda is a typical nazi german behavior! and BTW amerikka is the most hated country in the world, germany comes second! wanna care try ask the Chinese, Africans, Indians, Asians in General, Latin Americans? how about Arab and muslim? what you think? waiting for your silly reply adolf!
oh and I forgot, your nazi germany is actively helping the genocide in Gaza sending more weapons' to the zionazi entity! and Nicaragua is taking your nazi german government to the ICJ! bird of a feather flock together!
How do you go about schooling for the young one while you are travelling? I know people here in Ozz do have home schooling.
We are not traveling for many weeks of the year. This was captured back in January and they have a week off school then also. Most of our big trips are captured in the wet season when school is off for 3 months. 👌
You should let the poor guy at least get dressed before interviewing him without his pants on.
... he is wearing blue pants, what's your problem? Temperatures close to 40°C degrees
The mud/silt is probably from what's called "sluicing"? It's where the big rocks and light gravels, mud and clay are separated from the heavier gold bearing gravel? If the river turned that much in colour in that short of time and without rain then this is not from local villagers panning for gold but a mining company. I hope for the locals sake that the run off doesn't contain Mercury which is a crude way of extracting micro particles of gold from gravel/sand because all those kids swimming and anybody who eats fish from the river are being or have Mercury poisoning?
Great insight into that process.. thank you 🙏
Ok, the Caucasian on the scooter, scared the shit out of me! Juzzz sayin...
Are you in laos full time now ?
Been fulltime since early 2020 Mike 👌
Todd, I have been busy so watching videos on catchuo, please tell Neenee not to wear thongs pommy style , ie with socks at the 8:15 mark 555
Roger that 👌😆
Look like cowboy movie
Love your work and need your help. I'm working on a novel that involves service work of a famous American athlete. I need help with culture and dealing with government officials with whom my protagonist must work to fund and orchestrate a grassroots road and bridge project. There is a long backstory I'm willing to share if this project interests you. Thom
Change your travel music please mate bit annoying now
Lol
I wonder how much of the bridge is in those platforms and chicken coops

Hahaha yeup 😆
