From the joy of a new bike to the heartbreak of a young girl who for whatever reason doesn't talk. Such a little cutie. I know its impossible to help everyone but it must be hard not to. Another cracking good vid mate.
We do what we can, but like you said.. you can't help everyone, and so many children need help here. It really is hard walking away from them.

You're 100% correct about the bulls. They're going to fight. No matter what. When I was a kid growing up in the South part of Laos, I've watched all my male buffalo fight. Same with my bulls. It's their natural instinct to establish herd leadership and group dynamic.

i remember when i was young i was the only kid with a bicycle in a radius of 10km that bike is a very big prize for the kid.

It isn't just schooling and things. My wifes' family grew up poor. All the brothers and sisters are around the same size. Their kids tower over them because they grew up with enough and decent food. Makes a huge difference in schooling. Can't study if you are hungry. What you are doing for Mina is a great thing. It changed her life and she will likely be able to help her family later.
Mina Mouse has worked he way up to twelfth place?! It won't be long before she's running the show. Nice going Mina!

It reminds me of some of the old bunker like motels down in the Florida keys. Some have been there for 60 years or more.
And so the journey starts! I am so excited, almost as excited as Mina and her brother opening his presents. Mina is such a sweet caring little girl with both her brother and her cousin. Mina's grandparents must be so proud of her making such good progress at school. It just goes to show that if a little one is keen to learn and has the right teachers and environment they can do well in education. Thank you Todd and Neenee for providing that environment and for all that you are doing for this family. The guest house couldn't be in a better spot and such a lovely, large, clean room at an amazing price. Troopee is looking all set for an exciting time. Bring them on Todd! God bless you both and Mina and her family, who I will add to my prayer list. 😀❤🙏

I believe Mina is the luckiest girl to get the opportunity to go to a good school and to live a good life with you and Nenee. Unfortunately, there are still many poor girls and boys (Laotian and Hmong) that are still out there that don't get this opportunity. The world will be a perfect world if all the rich people could give a little to help the poor but many rich people don't care about anybody but themselves that's why the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. When someone like you and Nenee can help a child that child's life will change forever. Thank you!

I have 2 adult children , birthdays and christmas watching them open presents was the greatest thing I thought and still is and is proven by Mena and her brother, she is a little madam in the making as in being a boss in later life 555,
LOVE what your doing Todd brings tears to my eyes and makes me want to cry seeing all the poor children that are going to have a poor life and not have the opportunities to shine like Mina is going to get, love to watch these video's🙏 we hope to move to Thailand within the next year and I do hope to come visit you and see some of Lao.

I guess my memory told me the hat was red but at 5:46 it is on your wife and it is peach and frizzy around the edge and is easily washed. At &:27 it's there same hat and is a good color with her Lipstick and complexion - both of you smiling with the back seat girl with the red jumper.

We may get out that way around the Lao new year when school is off, but probably not until around July when we travel for the wet season. My guess as to why Thais think Laos is expensive is the same reason as everyone else. They've seen the city hotel prices, which are easy to find online. Classy hotels in Vientiane are almost as expensive as Bangkok, which is very expensive from a Thai perspective. (Lots of Thais who work in Bangkok commute in every day because they can't afford to live there, much less go to hotels there.)
Another issue is that there are lots of cheap hotels in Thailand (US$20-30/night). You have shown us many of these super-cheap guest houses in Laos, but many people like to have something a bit nicer than home when they have a holiday, not something more basic than home. It looks like Laos just has the extremes of US$5/night and US$100/night with nothing in between. (I've never been, so let me know if that's not the case.)

Todd, Ive only been back in Australia two weeks so a lot of catch up, hope to come out to Laos again this year but not Pakse. at the 11.42 mark you talk about Neenee her hair and weight, mate we all know you're punching above your weight , I want to cry when I see that lovely little girl attitude and smiling , my thai (niece) is the spit of her, same age about 7 yo, lack of teeth and all and sharp as a tack, her name is Pun, and she bosses the family around and plays mind games, the Gran has been to uni so has my girl ( her older sister 37yo) but Puns intellect is something to marvel, i kow other people can see this comment , but no family names or area names utilised

Damn. When you mentioned your friends' travel expenditures.....I almost had a heart attack. I took the wife and kids to Laos, for 5 weeks, and it cost us $16,000 in total. Yes. $16,000 freaking grand. Don't know where it all went. It must have been our constant outings that certain people we know that kept taking us to high end places and restaurants. We paid for everything.
We'll head there again next summer. We know who to avoid.
I believe if you had hats like Mina's on your Merch site, it would be a good seller to some e-bay marketer in Asia or America.

Thanks Todd, enjoyed the video and seeing Mina’s little brother and cousin. Not talking can be such a mystery, it’s so hard to know if and when they might start. My 4 year old son has never said a word either. We heard so many encouraging stories about kids that just start late and end up being fine. But it didn’t seem right to us, so we investigated and now he has an autism diagnosis and is getting a lot of help from speech therapist to use sign language and a talking device, via an iPad. He will start attending special school next year when he’s 5. It’s such a hard road and requires so much intervention and funding. My heart breaks for this little girl that she might not get the help, if she needs it. Probably a stupid question, but is there any sort of autism support in Laos, for young children? Or any specialist education or care that can be provided with funding or donations? Early intervention makes such a difference to the long term outcome for the young person. Please let us know if there is anything we can help with. Best wishes to you all, from Brisbane ❤
It's not available in a city like Pakse. I don't know about Vientiane.
I know of no facilities in Vientiane.. not saying there isn't, but I doubt it. Thinking you would have to go to Thailand for support like that. Sorry I couldn't help you more Anna

Howdy Brother,,that was one excited happy girl! The cool thing was that she was as happy for her brother as she is to receive her own gifts. She is an astounding, special girl. The school report doesnt surprise me ,,,at all! I've said along shes a genius,,I seriously believe that. By the end of the year she'll be top 5,,probably 3. She is wickedly quick witted! I'm happy for her brother too. The little girl could easily have issues for the things you mentioned,,basically thing that would shock a 3 or 4 year old. Could it be that shes daughter/niece number 2? Lol. I need to have a conversation with you,,on the tele or at the very least,,email. I want to get something for my niece,,that she'll need as she grows.,,so we'll need to figure out logistics as to when I should call. Table was glorious even though it was a ways away. I trust you bro! I still cant believe those people brought you Oregon Fighting Ducks gear! Grew up watching them and always hearing my cousins and Uncles talking about them. Dad never was really a sports guy,,,but I definitely inherited the sports fanaticism from the Uncles,,, my Dad was always taking us hiking ,camping reading,,I'm even more fanatic about those things. Hell,,he still loves little roadies at 88,,I just have to be more gentle,,slower,,more careful about bumps,,etc.im glad you guys enjoyed this trip,,its good for the soul.
