Try air dry clay to seal the lines in the top and bottom and will sand easily

Oh my goodness! I love these. I clicked on “Dollar Tree” to watch crafting videos and your video was one of them on the list. I have been wanting to make a Christmas deco (lamp post) and I cannot figure out how with what I have. I want it sturdy. I will be checking your video lists to see if you have made something or something similar to what is in my mind. Thank you, a new subscriber.

Uriel, try clear silicone adhesive. Make sure you put enough on so when you squeeze the two shelves together it squishes out. Then use your finger or card to scrap up the excess. This might prevent a noticeable indent where the shelves go together. Great job on these columns. Fantastic idea and great work.😊

  • @lauraharvey7424

You can also use the sticker wall paper to cover them, like the brick or the slate or wood slats omg ❤now I have to go to dollar tree again lol

Love this. If you're not opposed to sand and stain or rub and buff, wood putty has always work out really well for me and is seamless. This was a crazy good idea, I'm going to try it as well, I didn't mind the seam.

I agree, my first thought was these will be tiny, just seeing the thumbnail. I am not sure where or if I would use these, but the basic idea could be expanded for creating table scapes for parties or weddings where you want some different heights for plates of candies or deserts, or whatever. It is a really good basic idea.

Nice creation. Perhaps the very top of the pedestal could be covered with some of the peel and stick material that they carry. They have plain vinyl in the craft area or raised patterns in the home improvement, or even posterboard could be used. If one has access to more tools then one of those signs could be cut down to fit inside framing or a mosaic could be made using the flat glass marbles. There's a long list of possibilities to finish it off. Of course you could always just place a doily on top of it too.

You could also take the square dowels in an X on each panel like farm house Decor. You could make a little cabinet to use the boards with square dowels and then only glue 3 sides together use 2 tiny hinges for the door and a magnet. Cut down extra boards for shelves and top and base oh my I want one looks like a light house and one that looks like barn. Could also do a boat shelf with those boards. Lord this coffee is working this morning I hope you can show me how to make them all!!!

Thank you , Uriel. You’ve inspired me with your thoughtful build & creativity. Your pedestals are great. I’ve been trying to come up with a way to construct a simple cover for the exposed plumbing below a small bathroom’s small sink. There’s a baseboard heater running below on the wall so I have to craft the build to allow for that. I’ve researched buying small cabinets but none would work in the space so having seen your approach, I may now have a way to do this. As a proud granddaughter of a Scottish cabinet-maker I love to build, fabricate & engineer solutions. I must also compliment your teaching voice & precise instructions. Look forward to more of your videos. Laine, Montclair, NJ, USA.

Absolutely love the storage columns this is amazing when I first got those shelves I thought about doing something similar but couldn’t figure out how to get them to butt up together to glue them tight love it!!! I think it looks fine with a tiny gap you barely see it. You could also do a lighted column if you get the ones with cut outs that also reverse like a star fish doesn’t matter whether you turn it upside down. On the column part you could do one up and then one down, keep them all up top or all to the bottom.

  • @denasewell
    @denasewell ปีที่แล้ว +3

FYI to fill the gap on the two floating shelves run a bead of superglue then sprinkle with baking soda it will harden then sand it and the gap will become undetectable after sanding or using a nail file and paint

Use Sheetrock mud instead. Can be sanded or wet sponged smooth after it dries.

These are SUPER COOL! I love that they cone from $ Tree, however, in bulk, it might be cheaper to cut some thin plywood.. Also, I think caulk would do better on sealing the long cracks in the columns - but GREAT JOB!!1

Absolutely beautiful. Did you try spackling or wood filler again after the first application? Spackle and wood filler have a tendency to shrink when dried so another application and sanding between each coat might work. I can’t wait to try this for my patio.

Yes I tried, I even added paint as filler to make more smooth.

Love the use of those boards. Why can't I be this creative. My question could I use them outside if I used like a rustoleum paint

Thank you, I appreciate it. Please subscribe, new projects coming soon. I am not 100% sure if rustoleum paint will do it. Maybe if you apply it with a brush and not spray, and do several layers, it could get a good seal.

For the top, you can cut some cardboard to fit, and it will hide the cracks 😊
