So many songs showcase Saiki's vocal range, but this one takes the cake for me - she spends a lot of time up in falsetto but manages to switch to very low notes with ease.
Wonderland is a great progy, jazz rocker with touches of funky elegance wrap around a mid-tempo, storytelling, epic soundscape. In other words, as Ryan Mear and Chase put it, ”Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things!” 😊 BTW - For really special, reimagined compositions of Wonderland and other songs from Band-Maid, check out FXDx Studios YT channel. Thx, DrAtt!
Band-Maid don't usually have support acts (they have a few times in the US). They play 2+ hour sets so I presume there isn't time for other bands. They have played with other acts at festivals of course. They have announced a 'collaboration' for 2024, but we don't know who or what yet. I don't think they would fit with Lovebites or Nemophila anyway, Band-Maid aren't a full on metal band. I wouldn't be interested in them playing with either - great bands but not my cup of tea at all. Lovebites are friends with the Maids, they were in the audience at Band-Maids Yokohama Arena show recently (so that could be a possible collab). A lot of fans think the best 'fit' for a double show would be The Warning from Mexico (and they have met each other too). Personally if another band cuts into Band-Maids playing time I would be pissed!
Agree, as much as I like Nemophila and Hanabie., they aren't a fit with Band-Maid. I'd much rather see Whiskey Dust and PaleNeO in a concert with our Maids. :)
@@TlanImass Yeah. And if Band-Maid did need/want a support act I think Brats would be a good fit too. (Brats are currently on hold as Rei is busy with ReiRie atm).
After covid, certainly they have not. In the early days, they did a lot of tai-ban [joint] live shows, though. The 2019 show with Backdrop Cinderella and Dizzy Sunfist is the last one so far, isn't it? (They are more of a punk band.) Speaking of which, in 2018, the Day of Maid tai-ban okyūji with Bed In and BiS held.
I would be okay with a four hour concert with Band-Maid and The Warning and each band playing a full 2 hours! I agree that The Warning would be a better fit musically for them as opposed to LOVEBITES or Nemophila. Again, those are great bands like you said!
Agree with everything you said. Arrangement wise, this is a very special song and because of that it is always in my top 5 BM songs- others may come and go. Another song similar is Awkward- there was an official live version- the dynamics of which are fantastic. Check it out please, as it doesn't often get played. Drummers always appreciate Akane's work in the slower songs. Don't often hear cross sticks in rock songs these days- it's a bit old school.
It's hard to pinpoint what makes Wonderland tick, but I think it has to do with all the lines and rhythms moving together and apart, especially in Saiki's vocals. It feels like a strange journey and it's not clear how or where it's going to resolve tonally. But in the end they make it to the Wonderland.
❤🎉 Thank goodness you got back to Band Maid! And I’m glad you chose to take a look at this song. The Maids are courageous in their songwriting and this is a great example of that. I have a special request, Eric. Way back in 2016, the Maids released “YOLO.” The song is written in 4/4; however, Akane is doing some crazy things with her drums that make it feel like it’s not 4/4. In 2024, could you consider doing a reaction to that and explain to a dumb bassist what the heck is going on? 😂 Be well, Happy New Year 🎊 🍾
I always love reacting to Band Maid! I have added your request to the top of my list! So you can look for that in the next couple of weeks! Happy New Year to you as well, my friend!
@@Metal_Auditor It's hard to know what they will do in the future, but it wouldn't surprise me if Miku plays more stuff like that, or Saiki plays piano, or MISA plays guitar. They are all talented and they may want to expand their horizons in the next ten years.
No, not a concert, but BandMaid and The Warning played at 2022 Aftershock and 2023 Welcome to Rockville. Also, BandMaid almost never plays full concerts with other bands, or even has opening bands. Also, over the last year, BandMaid actually opened for Guns n Roses in Japan, and also opened for The Last Rock Stars in NY and LA.
Very good .. Congratulations!
Thanks!
A great Saiki showcase song, as others have mentioned often lost in the *Band Maid* long list of greatness.
I agree! Thank you so much for stopping by!
SUPER VIDEO 🎶🥁😊🎆👍
Many thanks!!
"Finessed" is the right word 👍
Thanks for watching!

An often overlooked and underrated track.

What a strange line Miku plays in the second verse! How does it work? Why does it work? But it does ...
I wish she would get to play more lead lines like that. She clearly can do it.

They way they compose their music and deliver it is pure genius!
the brand new nemophila song and video called AMA-TE-RAS it kicks ass!
Thanks for the suggestion! I have added it to my list.
