I've been a fan for several years, but John Crist wasn't "cancelled" he was disciplined. He committed sins against women (and, per previous reports older teenage girls) , broke laws (driving drunk, among others), and generally lived the opposite of what he professed. I'm glad he has sought counsel and forgiveness, but this interview gives a distorted view of what he did to wreak his own upward career. I agree with others here who have commented that this was a huge missed opportunity to talk about God's grace and mercy in his life. He's self-professed Christ follower, as such, he's *supposed to* "get all spiritual and everything".

He is specifically referencing her question, how is what he did it different from the norm & does that show the hypocrisy of cancel culture? The question wasn't about whether what he did was not that bad or ok - its that its par for the course sadly and he was canceled most likely due to having any affiliation with Christianity. He repeatedly said he owned his mistakes and blamed no one but himself.

I am in no way condemning Jon, but as Christians, we are not supposed to look like the rest of the world. That’s kind of the point. When nonbelievers do what Jon did, it’s somewhat expected. He did things that true Christians are heavily against. So to get a 2nd chance is really a rarity & he is actually very lucky that the Christian community does follow God’s principles of “love one another as I have loved you”. And I don’t condemn him at all because there are many things I’m not proud of. I have made more mistakes than I would care to admit. When you're a follower of Christ, approval doesn't come from having sold out shows. It comes from God and being obedient to His Word. You can gain everything in the world and yet lose your soul. I've enjoyed listening to John, but sounds like he doesn't take his sin seriously and is looking for acceptance from the world instead of from the Lord. Not that we have to live perfectly to be accepted by God- He gave His Son, Jesus, to live perfectly and still take the punishment for our sin so that we could be forgiven and be friends with God, who is holy and perfect. We still mess up, of course, sometimes even in "big" ways, but the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and we repent and confess that, and try again because we love God and are grateful for Him loving us first. By downplaying sin and the forgiveness we've received by God's grace, we trivialize what Jesus did for us. I'm sad to hear John talk this way. Only God knows his heart, but right now, he's not showing gratitude for what the Lord has done for Him and it's hard to believe he is a believer.

I wish as Christians we would stop referring to “the left” and “the right” in a derogatory manner. I respect all political parties. God gives us free will to choose and we are truly blessed to live in the USA where we can vote and have a voice. I also know many Christians who are democrats. Wonderful people. Your statement that “The left tries to ruin and mock others” is a bit aggressive and categorizes and separates people. I think it’s better to embrace one another’s differences and opinions without putting a group of people into a category. I really enjoy John Crist’s comedy. I think I was a bit taken aback by your comment. I saw more Christians saying such rotten things about democrats (other human beings that were made in the image and likeness of God) on social media that I was ashamed of them. If I wasn’t a Christian that behavior would’ve completely made me want to stay away from anybody who called themselves a Christian. I am definitely not trying to be offensive, but as somebody that is a Christian and loves the Lord Jesus I think we need really walk out the fruits of the spirit.

Megyn Kelly describing his behavior as something normal 30 year old men would do is essentially saying, “Boys will be boys.” I don’t understand this in light of her own experience with sexual misconduct from Bill O’Reilly.
Surely we can exercise forgiveness and rejoice in Crist’s restoration/healing without minimizing the harm he inflicted on women (who have also had to go through their own healing process).

If John was a secular comedian, nothing would have happened. His claims of being a Christian entertainer was the problem. This has happened to preachers and Christian musicians. For the most part all who acknowledged their sin were welcomed back. To equate it with cancel culture feels a bit misleading. I think John was noticeably uncomfortable in the interview, because Megyn was trying to push a narrative, he wasn't fully comfortable with. John had to look at himself, as many of us have, and say I fell off the path. He got back on, and he seems to have his life right with God now.

This is a story of redemption! People want to say that as Christians we should be above sin and when we commit sin we are somehow worse than a non-Christian who commits sin. That’s so far from truth. ALL of us sin, that’s why we need grace. This is a story of an imperfect human living in the flesh, like we all do, and realizing that he is imperfect. The key is he did something about it. He turned it around. Not to say he will be perfect, again, no one is. But, “let he that is without sin cast the first stone”. He knows he's speaking to an unsaved person who doesn't understand how holy God is and helps him downplay his sins. John certainly seems unrepentant when he agrees with her, and plays his behavior off as being normal worldly behavior. This proves his apology message that he made at his comeback was insincere. And then won't give God the glory for bringing him out of that?! He seems ashamed of his faith. "mortal" sins.. All sins will condemn you to hell. All sins were paid for by Jesus, so only the sin of rejection of that sacrifice will condemn you to hell. Many Christians don't understand the Gospel and have made gods of their own faith instead of Jesus himself. There is no condemnation, but a warning here.
I've been a believer for 31 years; I was thinking I trusted Jesus, but I realize now my acceptance isn't based on my sin or lack thereof, it's based on my belief in and acceptance of what God says about me and He says I'm worth dying for. Being cancelled by my son 2 years ago has changed my life by driving me to a place of learning and introspection I simply was not capable of going to before he used that "tool" of his mental health counseling trade on me, his toxic, narcissistic, controlling mother. After much repenting, all private as he has not allowed any contact during this time, I finally feel ready to not just listen to him, but HEAR and SEE him and begin to exercise empathetic love not just in my relationship with him and my daughter in law, but with everyone I meet. I have done a lot of dying to self since that cancellation 2 years ago, but as I am filled with the very much alive Holy Spirit and know God has never cancelled me and never will, this very painful steel rod of discipline has been wrapped in the silky, velvety softness of His love and has produced joy unspeakable. God will use anything to mold and shape His children into the image He created us to be, the image of Christ. I want never again to interfere with the Potter. No more kicking against the goads! My son and daughter in law reached out just yesterday and will be initiating our first virtual video communication this coming Wednesday. My task is to listen and receive without defending myself, without gaslighting, throwing shade, trying to wrest control of the conversation. I believe in a God who CAN and DOES change us. And so she erupts when you try to confront? Your counselors may be correct that cutting her off both emotionally and possibly physically is the thing to do IF you've already confronted her honestly more than once to no avail. All she can do then is turn to God, under Whose loving discipline she needs to surrender, no matter how "old" she is. We are all still children of our Heavenly Father! We had the meeting via zoom (I fasted 3 days to listen to the Lord on this and knew the only thing to do through this meeting was listen and agree to everything they shared with me, whether I liked it, believed they had the story straight, or NOT) and so I did. It hurt to hear many of the things they told me - they each read from a pre-written, carefully worded statement to me with my husband beside me in the zoom call) and asked if I had questions and asked if I could agree to their terms going forward. I said I might have questions later after contemplating and praying on all this, but that for now I heard them and agree with the validity of everything they have expressed as it comes from their experience and their hearts and that I am deeply sorrowful for having brought us all to the place of needing this separation but I am very thankful they are willing to give us a new chance at building a healthy relationship. A couple weeks later I had another FaceTime meeting with my daughter in law where I was able to gently explain some things I was going through and feeling which led to a few of the major difficulties she experienced with me, and we were able to get past all that and define together in agreement what forgiveness means. She had been under the impression that when someone asks "Will/Do you forgive me?" they are asking you to forget it ever happened. I assured her I know that is impossible and unreasonable and what I am asking is "Will you allow me to begin anew/will you give me another chance?" which I believe is what Jesus meant by forgiving one's brother seventy times seven times. She agreed. My son and I have not had a good sit-down conversation and I don't expect us to have that any time soon. But the love is there, the hugs are back, and we just enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving gathering together with my other 2 sons and the grandkids. God is good.
