  • In this full-length interview, Robert T. Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad (1997), talks about his humble beginnings growing up in Hilo, Hawaii. He explains that his father (Poor Dad) was so bright he earned an honorary Ph.D.; meanwhile, he flunked out of high school on two separate occasions because he didn't like school. He also admits that he failed English because he couldn't write. Despite the bad grades, his SAT scores were high, which helped him land enrollment at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. From there, Kiyosaki details how a discussion with his former economics teacher inspired him to join the Marine Corps in 1969, where he desperately wanted to experience flying in Vietnam. He reveals to DJ Vlad that the aircraft he flew were shot down three times before reflecting on the lives he took during a time of war.
As the conversation progresses, Kiyosaki shares his thoughts on America's school system before stating his belief that students are being taught communism. This prompts him to share his thoughts on the "critical race theory" curriculum before explaining that many of his family members were in concentration camps during World War II. He later states why he was court-martialed before being expelled from the Marines.
Moving along, Kiyosaki looks back on a pivotal conversation that he had with his best friend's father (Rich Dad) about his next career move following his discharge from the Marines. He states that his "Poor Dad" told him to go to college, but his "Rich Dad" told him to become a salesman. Later in the Q&A session, DJ Vlad brings up some of his favorite points of the "Rich Dad Poor Dad" book, prompting Kiyosaki to explain further some of his methods for achieving financial success and writing his New York Times Best Seller.
Lastly, Kiyosaki looks back on the Amway distributor who jump-started his successful career as an author. He also talks about his friendship with Donald Trump and the two books they co-authored, "Why We Want You To Be Rich" and "Midas Touch." He also discusses his $1.2 billion debt, being a property owner, his gold/silver mines, the way in which he leverages his debt to maintain his empire, and more.

Many people don't understand that Robert's friend is a conman and a criminal. Donald is facing local, state, and federal prosecutions, including bank frauds, tax frauds, and insurance frauds, according to 60 Minutes report (The People vs. Donald Trump). Like Robert, Don the conman is not a billionaire based on his tax records, which show hundreds of millions of dollars in debts, as reported by the New York Times. This is the type of friends that Robert likes.

I don't think he's aware of the irony. I read RDPD back in 2008. It was an inspiring book. 15 years later, watching him on his show and these interviews, I'm glad that I chose not to follow much of his advice. I agree with some things he says, but now I know that he's a "salesman," and that's just what salespeople do. I think he's a better and slightly more ethical salesman than Trump (I read the books they wrote together, too), but neither are examples of men that I want to follow.

I loved the way Vlad exposed this guy as a liar. My god the body language, the way his eyes shifted and how uncomfortable he became when Vlad told him there was no rich dad. Vlad you are the best.

vlad much respect. very impressed, this is a nice detour from covering the crime and violence nonsense. hope your viewers pay attention and give your videos like this more views, roberts book was the first time i learned the value and meaning of an asset and a liability, seems rather straight forward but its fundamental lessons like that are the bedrock for how you look at, save, invest and utilize your dough. money is a tool, currency is a means of exchange, it pays to understand this so when we obtain money we understand how to use it.
    thank you for this video.

because of how transparent and real it is, this is the kind of conversation that will and can bind people of different paths together. how many stances did he express that democrats could agree with? how many that reps could agree with? & the rich & the poor. unfortunate that people REALLY only want to pay attention to things when it's from someone's mouth who has a lot of money. this conversation shows you that even the people who have money understand what is really going on & he's okay with showing a fraction of it. good stuff vlad
