"I wrote the Dune series because I had this idea that charismatic leaders ought to come with a warning label on their forehead: "May be dangerous to your health." (Frank Herbert, author of "Dune")
"We have all the moisture we need in that girl right now, if they were to drain her now, they'd fill the whole lake up". Shout out to Hannah for the quote of the year 24:52 😅😂
Yeah unfortunately they can't watch with full speakers and have to deal with the dinky garbage airpods because it prevents feedback of a speaker going into that mic.
Djinn sounds exactly like Gin... For all the little weird things the English language can do for phonetic disambiguation, alas, it falls short at the right moment for some laughs. Hannah really did make that joke shine!
I get mad when reactors talk over the movie but you guys are actually funny and understood the movie very well. More reactors like you guys is what we need. The guy is very hyped (dude literally made me get hyped too even tho i already watched the movie lol)
That third guy Atriedes that fought against Feyd wasn't just an average soldier, he was "Lieutenand Lanville" the one Duncan called to after getting off his ship in Dune 1, and the one that said "Shields!" to all the Atreides soldiers when they were about to step foot on Dune off the ship, and the one that warned that they needed to shield the doors because the sun was rising too much. But..... he was also the fight and stunt co-ordinator on the crew. Dude is a real badass and I love that he got a role in the movies.
His name is Roger Yuan; he's worked on a number of films including Skyfall, Batman Begins and John Wick 3, and he's had cameos in a bunch of the films he also did fight choreography or stunts on.
39:30 when they talk about Jessica's voice being "cringey" is so ironic. Watching the movie in theaters with acoustics is an entirely different experience than watching with 1 earpod in. The voice is perfect. The bass on it vibrates your whole body (in a theater).
No good guy is ALL good. No Bad Guy is ALL bad. That's just one of the things that makes this story one of the most amazing ever written. Take away all the fantastic sci-fi, and you have an incredible human-piece that is more honest about the beauty and ugliness of humanity than almost any other story.
And this is why Dune will continue to resonate with people decades, generations, from now. Frank Herbert wrote the book integrating every "ecological" aspects of Humanity and these, religion, fanatism, politics, culture, economics, etc., are never all black or all white. It's infintely more true to reality than other popular tropes.
it could be taken as symbolism but Paul "predicting" the future is hardly magic. Its like mentat but whole new level. He's calculating everything and so he can "predict" what's going to happen. That's why it was said that he needs to see the past to see the future. You need X and Y to know what's going to happen in Z. It's one of the possibilities he was seeing at that moment when he doesn't have X and only have Y. This also avoid the most common used BS in time-travelling movies. Paul doesnt know the future, his brain is calculating possibilities and everytime he meets a new person or encounter an unexpected something the calculus changes. For example, If paul an jessica were able to fully walk on the desert without attracting the worm Jamis would've believe in him and he would still be alive.
That vision was fulfilled when Feyd stabbed him in the side. "It's confusing, I thought I saw my own death. I know someone will hand me a blade, but I don't know who or when." Chani gave him the blade, Feyd stabbed him in the side with his own blade, the crysknife.
@@pr0x1madigital The book and author I thought explained it as timelines he lives. And he learns from them all. Directing actions to the final timeline. It's how he spent time learning from his best friend that taught him the ways of the desert, but then had to fight and kill him in this timeline. Perhaps it's one in the same only different ways to explain it.
the reason Paul asked for the princess was because he can be legitimised as a ruler through marriage he loves Chani, but he has to marry the princess to bring stability and to keep his promises.
@@kevinmatthew1050 the books go in far deeper, we also don't really get much of the spacing guild, the Fremen technology, I must admit Chani is very different I hope it is to emphasise the point of being wary of "saviours' and "leaders" and not just girl boss because.
Ashkan going nuts from when Paul woke up from the water of life till the end of the movie was incredible. I felt like jumping out of my seat with him and screaming "Lisan Al-Gaib!" about 15 times.
He gave Feyd Rhauta a very personal touch: it was his idea to speak like Baron Vladimir, since his character had been raised by his uncle and the second kiss between them had not been scripted.
Ash cumming in his pants about a story that is a cautionary take about absolute power is so on brand for him. Him slapping his chest and saying he'd be ready to go to war is literally what Frank Herbert warned us about! Terrifying really.
I watched this in the cinema and I was being drawn to Paul's charisma, I saw myself fighting for him and I had to remind myself that it's a cautionary tale, lol... However, I also realized that the throne was either going to Paul or to Feyd Rautha and in this situation, who are we supposed to choose?... People say that we should be cautious of Paul, but the alternative is way worse.
It’s his Iranian coming out. 😂 But in all seriousness, it’s not that deep lmao - at this point it’s ambiguous what the full panoply of possible futures is, so we’re just reacting to Paul seizing the mantle with emphasis. It’s not some elaborate value judgment…
@@AngkatanNamwaran it's an interesting question you pose because that alternative is never really discussed in the books. You say it would be worse? I'm not so sure. The harkonnens would certainly brutally subjugate arrakis and revel in the power of God emperor's of the known universe... But would they go as far as Paul and his children do? Paul's legacy is basically ethnic and religious cleansing, on a universal scale by fundamentalist lunatics. We will never know the harkonnens outcome. But the fact that it takes an entire star system over 10 thousand years to recover from Paul says a lot.
@@Hagg-o-tron However, Paul was burdened with knowledge, he could see the future and he took the path that the thought was necessary to ensure the survival of humanity. He didn't just kill for sport. For me, it's just a very complicated situation.
Mom is NOT evil. Remember when Leto in part I asked her to protect Paul and he told her he was not asking his mom, he was asking the Bene Gesserit?. Jessica is literally keeping her promise to Leto. By doing what she is doing, she is protecting Paul in a way she would have not been able to as just a mother.
It’s more nuanced than that. She’s not just protecting him I mean let’s be real she wanted him to be the kwisarz haderach. Also regardless if your motivations the way you go about something still matters and causing a war that will results in the deaths of billions across space is obviously inexcusable.
@@di3486 the nuance is that she’s a complicated character she’s not necessarily evil but she’s not “just being a good mother”. I think it’s fairly reductive to excuse the crazy shit she does. If you were actually looking at this as legit history you would anaglyze her actions differently. She helps put a war into gear that kills billions. And not unknowingly.
When Paul tells Jessica he sees a narrow way through, there is a brief flash of him holding the knife in Feyd-Rautha. He knows he has to let Feyd stab him in order to win. He knows more or less exactly what he has to do at all times. That's why tells Gurney it is his burden - he knows precisely what he has to do, even if those things are morally horrible (like instigating a holy war), or physically painful for him, and failure to do those things has great consequences.
To be fair, Paul is doing all this for survival (the visions have showed him there is only one way out of there situation as victors and alive) Imagine you have lived a thousand lives, that's what Paul basically went through. He loves Chani but if he stays, its game over for everyone he loves. Chani's POV and anger is totally valid, but there is no other choice.
@parlyramyar Paul's word: "she will come to understand... i have seen it" meaning its a shock for her right now but maybe later she will get it, as the consequences unfold. But let's not forget she has great wisdom and her anger is probably foreshadowing something big. ;)
when paul drank the water of life he gained access to the other memories of all his ancestors back to the begining of time itself, so billions of lifetimes
@@samwallaceart288 Exactly. I think it's a change that doesn't quite work in the movie especially since their son Leto II isn't a part of the film either. Chani knew that Paul did it all for Arrakis and for the fremen and she strongly and quietly accepted it as a fremen and focused on their children. There is so much in the book that and partially in the movie about sacifricing for the future. Maybe this is an ancient concept lost in the modern sensibility where most people never have to die for anything. I think a big part of their vision was lost with the decision to fundamentally change the character of Chani's father, Dr. Liet Kynes who had the dream and plans of terraforming Arrakis and turning into a green paradise.
54:08 that's exactly what happens in the book, which was the only way he could become emperor, with Chani becoming his concubine, but she's still the one he loves, and she didn't run off, she stayed
@@ams914nah I disagree I think it’s a good change because it makes it clearer to the audience that Paul is following the wrong path with the choices he’s making and they make this point with the I’ll be with you as long as you never change and in the end of course he changes so she leaves. It also makes sense that the fremen who rejects Paul as their messiah is the one who’s closest to them. There are movies to make that criticism for but when you do it for one as banging as this it makes the criticism lose its meaning. You’d be surprised how many reactions think Paul is still the hero far past when they should. Granted it’s clearer when you read the book but still.
I saw Ash's comments on his community post a few weeks ago when they recorded the review to Dune2 and oh boy oh boy, apparently our boy Ash completely lost it, cant wait to witness it!
Ash and Hannah are my two brain cells during the part with Paul becoming the Lisan al Gaib. One brain cell is telling me "Wow this is bad, he's becoming a bit of a tyrant, which is..." but it's drowned out by the second brain cell being absolutely in awe at the epicness of Paul, and singing along to the incredible music
@@ReallyGoodandKind dude how? She isn’t even a character from what I recall she barely even speaks in the second book she’s not even a character she’s a plot device
@@AngkatanNamwaran She's not a yes woman, in fact it's the complete opposite. Paul is a yes man, he helps the Fremen/Chani/Liet Kynes achieve their life long dream of terraforming Arrakis into a paradise and expelling Landsraad occupation forever from their planet. People seem to conveniently ignore that. Chani knows Paul is the only chance their people have in order to terraform Arrakis. But Villeneuve changed her to love Arrakis the way it is, a desert planet where people constantly recycle and kill each other over water, in constant guerilla warfare with the Landsraad. Exploitation was mutual, there is a point in the book where Paul realizes it doesn't even matter if he dies because he's done his job and the Jihad will happen no matter what, Chani is there to make sure he fulfills the prophecy and be his support.
@@samrogers5090 It's not about how much she talks, she is a beautiful character who is the daughter of Liet Kynes, if Jessica failed and died during water of life ceremony she would take Jessica's place as Sayyadina. Just because she's not vocal doesn't mean she's not important, she plays a massive role in both her people's lives and Pauls lives, she's a humble servant to both. And somehow people seem to have an issue with that. Movie Chani is an alien among her own people, in fact she's part of the status quo and doesn't want there to be change, is highly emotional and incapable of grasping the bigger picture... the ending is testament to that because she's literally alone. NOw seems she is set up to be Paul's enemy in Messiah which is absolutely ridiculous and will break the entire story going forward.
I feel like ash and Hannah represent both sides of my brain while watching this movie, which is why it works so well. Paul is the hero of his revenge story, but he’s not infallible and harnesses too much power for any man, and it hurts the people he cares about most as he loses his touch with humanity. Villeneuve had to change things in the story but when it comes to the message of Dune, he nailed it.
Great reactions, guys. Ash became a fanatic for the Lisan-al-gaib, while Hannah saw through all the B.S. like Chani! Now go see it in the big screen! Saw it with my son in 4DX. When the grandfather worm appeared the theater started shaking like an earthquake was happening. When Paul rode the worm, my seat was bucking like a bronco trying to throw me off. It was smashing into my back. I needed a seatbelt. I reached for my son fearing for his safety. He was screaming with joy! We both let go of our seat, raised our arms and raised our feet off the floor. We rode the worm with Paul! The soundtrack was deafening beyond belief. The whole theater was shaking like it was going to tear itself apart. It was an unbelievable, exhilarating experience!
@VDViktor it's not Hannah's fault that Denis changed the context of their relationship from the novel. I understand he wanted a cliffhanger, but I don't like it either.
"A bit of power." Hannah, he's the Emperor of the Known Universe now. Anyway, fun video. If you haven't, check out "No Country for Old Men" starring Josh Brolin (Gurney) and Javier Bardem (Stilgar), and "ELVIS" starring Austin Butler (Feyd-Rautha). I'd also like to recommend "Cloud Atlas," on a whim.
The thing you guys don't seem to be getting is that, Paul isn't going after the power of being Emperor because he wants it or is power-hungry. It's because, in order to achieve the capabilities needed to terraform Arrakis/Dune and turn it into the Green Paradise that the Fremen have been promised for so long, he needs to be Emperor to do so. The Holy War is basically just a stepping stone to get through to achieve that final goal.
It’s not just that- he has a narrow path shown to him in his vision in which he and the people he cares about survive. He is treading that narrow path out of self preservation and in doing so he begins his holy war- something he sees as a necessary evil and to some degree, after him drinking the water of life, an inevitability
😂 Hannah, lovely, you deserve a fricking medal for how much you managed to pay attention with Ash going booloo next to you 😂 😂 just goes to show you're crazy sharp hun xx
The reason every one used bladed weapons is the shields. Bullets cannot pass through them because they move to fast, and lasers cause a nuclear reaction . The Fremen though actually do use both bullet during guns and lasers because you should never wear or use a shield in the desert as they attract the Sandworms.
Denis Villeneuve the director said him and the composer Hanz Zimmer were both huge fans of the books and you can tell poured so much love into it. They did an awesome job staying true to Frank Herbert's themes in the novel. BEST MOVIE I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME!!!
I’m convinced Ash is high on ⛷️ ❄️ because he was on 10 the entire reaction, didn’t stop talking or yelping. He is so extra and hyperactive like a toddler. 😂 My gawd how Hannah doesn’t have a headache I don’t understand.

Majority of the best scenes in this movie are his, he's so very good here. He and Denis gave me a movie experience I can't forget. The speech scene was insane I truly believed. You guys are my absolute favorites. Right when I thought I’ve seen all the dune reactions and getting tired of them a bit, yall come along and just bring so much joy into it again. Cheers from Texas!
In the book, seen in the 1984 movie and mini series, Jamis had a wife and two sons. Paul adopts Jamis’ family. Harkonnens can use guns against the Fremens as they don’t use personal shields. Riding the worm, if you pry open a segment of the skin, the worm will try to keep it away from the sand. This will keep the worm from diving into the sand. Major difference from the book, If I remember correctly taking the water of life caused Jessica to give birth prematurely. The baby Alia was born fully mature in mind and power, considered an abomination. One of the scariest characters in sci-fi, not introduced here, being saved for the next film. The only one scarier than Alia is Hannah. Her understanding of this film qualifies her as a Bene Gesserit Witch.
Watching this reaction made me realize why Herbert was so explicit with Messiah, the message of the movie really flies over so many people's heads. Also, they don't show it in the movie, but Fremen Stietches have factories in them where they manufacture Stillsuits, Thumpers and all the other equipment they utilize. They're not a primitive people, they have advanced technology just like the rest of the universe.
Herbert couldn't portray the message properly because of his own faults as a writer. Paul isn't to blame, the Bene Gesserit are Fremen fanatics are. The "message" simply says that good people can make bad or negative decisions, nothing about the in-depth philosophy that Herbert claims to have pressed
Not really. Books are always way more detailed. More proof book readers are obnoxious. With how these movies are it just seems like an innocent heir seeking revenge for others offing his entire family. It's not until later in this one do people realize "hey he might be...not so good"

@@orphanedhanyou I totally get where you're coming from. I'm talking about the common people. Not the great houses. Fuck them. But all those people who die of starvation because his war. And Paul knows he's causing that. I think if Paul had actually blown up a spice field to back them off and then ruled Arrakis with Chani (making new trade deals with the CHOAM), he'd have battles to fight but wouldn't cause near the amount of deaths. Seriously appreciate your comment though because the ruling class doesn't deserve to be saved. I think that's part of the nuance.
They will appreciate it a lot more when they sit down and actually watch parts one and two together. They've missed so much. It's a reaction you have to talk, but it's such a shame for them. The movies were amazing in IMAX.
Dude, seeing it in the theater was fuckin amazing. One of if not the best movies I've seen at the theater. Immediately wanted to go back and see it again after leaving.
I watched it on my home theather system (the TV is small but the sound system packs some serious punch) and was afraid my neighbours would object. Quite some subwoofer action in it.
I cannot tell you how much I love your intelligence, the both of you, and the purity and intensity of your emotions, and your dynamic together. Best wishes for your happiness and success.
"Whoever this director is, you are a movie fan, you know, you love movies and you loves fans." That would be Denis Villeneuve, and Dune is his favorite sci-fi book. Star Wars was inspired by Dune.
It's amazing to me how so few people pick up that this is the bad ending. The music literally tells you! It might just be me hearing the Harkonnen arena riff in the music later, but even if that riff isn't there, that is not 'yay, our heroes have gathered and it is now time to win this for the good guys' music. That is villain introduction music.
There is no good ending, every eventuality will lead to mass suffering. This isnt the bad ending, it is in fact the only way the human race can survive as it allows paul to have a son, Leto II. Humanity is about to embark on the golden path
This is possibly the best reaction I've ever seen on TH-cam... and I've seen a lot. You two bring so much life and energy to your reactions. Love your content.
@Hannah, I wouldn't be too bothered by Paul taking the princess as a bride. In the books, it's explained clearer. Paul announces to everyone in the room that he will take Princess Irulian as his bride, but he will not share his bed with her, he won't show her love or effection for her. She will be his bride by name only. His love is reserved for Chani. He says this all of this in front of princess Irullian and the emperor, so its like he's spitting at them by saying it like this.
The Kwisatz Haderach (aka The One) is intended to be a male Bene Gesserit. The reason the Reverend Mother instructed Paul's mother to only bear girls was because the Bene Gesserit desired the Kwisatz Haderach to be a Harkonnen, which Paul technically is since Paul's mother, Lady Jessica, is Vladimir Harkonnen's daughter. So, Paul is The One as he "died" as a result of drinking the Water of Life and was "reborn" in the South of Arrakis. Paul is the fulfillment of the prophecy.
I just want everyone to remember that our beloved Hannah is an incredible actress in her own right. Go watch her movies and support her career. It's a bad thing, but for an eventually good cause, no? Like, thousands of years of pain and suffering, trillions dead, but at the end of it humanity will be better off. That's why Paul is doing it in the first place, it's the golden path. Paved with blood and bones.
But It's kind of the least bad option.Imagine if the Harkonnens had undercut the emperor like they planned! Or a bad man became Kwisatz Haderach. Even the Bene Geaserit who view humanty like a dog show breedee tryong to get a Pit-Doodle-triever-hua
@@SlowSlowSlothI've seen people reiterating that Paul started the holy war for the golden path and it's a good thing. But there's a catch that people with similar opinions are forgetting. Paul DIDN'T go through with the golden path. He couldn't bring himself to do it. That's why someone else had to do it because Paul threw away all those lives just for revenge. He did see the path but he strayed from it.
Ash, I don't remember them talking about shaving in the books. 🤣 I watched this for the third time yesterday in the theater. It's great to see you guys reacting to it today. This might be my favorite film of all time. It's an absolute masterpiece.
I love your reaction to this cinematic masterpiece! This has become my favorite movie of all time and Ash’s reaction to everything was very similar to mine. Everything is just so epic and it does such an awesome job of making the viewers feel it, as if you were there. The music via Zimmer plays a big part in that! As bitter sweet as the ending was, it follows the books pretty well, besides a few changes and liberties. In the books, Chani understands the politics of Paul’s marriage and remains his concubine because Paul truly does love her and not the Princess. In this, Chani is much more reluctant to follow Paul or even remain his lover but we’ll see how the handle this in the next movie, Messiah.
Remember, Paul warned chani why he didn't want to go south. But once he does go south. It's an unstoppable force. It's also why he said he'll always love her. Right before he says he'll marry the princess. Which is a strategic alliance. Chani is still his true love.
Sad that people don't get it. The power is already in his hands because he can see all futures. He knows what has to be done to win the war FOR THE FREMEN, for Stilgar's and the believers' green paradise, for his love for Chani. He has to lose her and even his friendships with the fremen who become war-hungry zealots. This story is a tragedy, not a road for a sociopathic power hungry unidimensional character. A lot of reactors do not seem to get it but I guess it is just so much easier if you've read the books.
I mean, I am literally in the first 15 minutes of the audiobook. I already knew that Paul isn’t the hero and this is not a happy story just by actually paying attention to the first two movies. As an American, I thought maybe it was just an American this but I guess not.
I actually love to watch people go through this story and change or dance around the perspective of Paul being the „good guy” during this journey. Wait till you learn what happened during Holy War…
Life's funny - a few minutes ago I just bought my own copy of this movie on bluray, and just as I'm walking out and checking my phone I see the notification for this reaction video on my screen. What an awesome coincidence! Also, this movie is *EPIC*
53:15 - "I will take the hand of your daughter" A note from the books, about this point: it is stated, more than once, that the marriage of Paul and Irulan, the emperor's daughter, is purely a political move. Jessica herself explains this to Chani, adding that Paul will never provide any affection for Irulan, and that there will be no intimacy between them (not even to consumate the marriage), and that Chani is and will remain Paul's wife and companion for ever. A similar situation, described in the book in several different ways, and at different points of the story, is the one between Jessica and Leto. The two of them had not been married. Jessica's social position was that of being the concubine of Leto, and their marriage had been arranged (partially by the Atreides household, and partially by the Bene Gesserit, who had trained Jessica). However, the two of them had fallen deeply in love, and they were a married couple in all but name. Officially, howerver, it was necessary for Leto to be single and available to marry, in the case that he needed to make political marriage of convenience to another Noble house. (spoilers ahead...) In the following book of the series ("Dune's Children"), set a dozen years into the future, there is the continuation of this plotline: Paul and Irulan have contracted a political marriage, but Paul stays with Chani, who he considers his true spouse. In one of the court meetings, Irulan complains about this, but Paul matter-of-fact reminds her of the political necessity of their marriage and ends the discussion. However, he is not harsh about it, and even openly suggests for Irulan to take a lover, is she feels lonely (though he warns her to be discreet about it).
If you listen to what he says after the monster energy drink, "I see a narrow clear path for our survival", he didn't do it for power, he took power to survive.
I think the reason Jessica didn't mention she was pregnant is because the current Reverend Mother would have died before the baby was born, and she needs to be alive for the transfer to work. The only thing Jessica would gain by asking them to wait would be her own death after delivering the child. The Fremen would then be left without a Reverend Mother and have a new mouth to feed on top of that. Instead she gambled on being able to transmute the poison before it affected the baby. Had she failed, at least she would still be alive to ensure Paul's survival and keep things moving in the direction of the prophecy.
You guys are epic! Seriously the best intuitive and funny reactions to watch eva! And Hannah the little mouse is a real thing, it's a Kangaroo mouse from Australia...and hi from South Australia!
Paul is the Kwizatz Hadareck. He could never be a female. He can only be male. Remember guys these movies are ONE BOOK. Two parts ONE book. So don't compare one movie to the other. Watch the 80's Dune. It's one movie.
For Hannah... Don't be mad. It wasn't FOR POWER. It was for the long term survival of the Fremen and far later down the road, humanity. Remember, this was the only path Paul could take to save both the Fremen AND Chani. He had to show the entire Imperial court that he was wanting to take Princess Irulan's hand to take control of the Imperium. And what makes this movie one of the greatest TRAGEDIES ever made was the sacrifice Paul had to make so that his loves (the Fremen and Chani) would survive. That's why he told Chani: "I will love you as long as I breathe." He knew the path and how it would affect her. BTW, this is different than the book. In the book, Chani understands that this is a show marriage. For Ash... Embrace your Fremen nature. Ya-hya zhou hada!!!! Long Live The Fighters!!! When ... WHEN ... they have Dune 2 in IMAX re-release, go see it in IMAX. Every time you see it in IMAX, it just gets better.
I actually really enjoy the differences with Chani’s character - I haven’t read the books since high school but I remember her as someone who holds herself as a Fremen more than anything else. In the movies (so far), I feel like she’s presented as someone who obviously wants to aggrandize her people, but she is also a young woman going through the throes of love and devotion for the first time. You really see the juxtaposition of her decisions in the movies. Like, even if she knows why Paul is doing these things, she sees a darkness in it and in the way he makes her feel
I'm pretty sure she understands it in this also but this showed more her immediate visceral reaction to the reality of it. It's one thing to know something but quite another to experience it.
@@fxzero666 No, Hannah gave no indication that she understood it beyond what I said. You are making stuff up that you think she thought. She was still seething about how that whole scene went down after the movie credits rolled and you could tell it bothered her. So I have no idea where you got that 'she understands it'. Hannah even says in the analysis: "you go against all this for power", "your girl, you did all this for a bit of power". So no, she didn't understand it.

I really appreciate Hannah understanding the consequences and how scary Paul's change in appearance is once he's awoken from taking the Water of Life. It's not a good thing to celebrate that he's a chosen one, it's reluctantly horrifying.
Lady Jessica didn't reveal her pregnancy, because it was a life or death situation. Just as Stilgar said. If she didn't become their reverend mother, than Paul couldn't be the prophesized One. And if he isn't "The One". Her and Paul's fate, was their water being returned to the well. She had no choice.
30:00 This scene isnt in black and white; and they didnt film it in black and white either. The scene is to show the lighting of the black light from the Harkonnen Sun. They actually got the effect using infrared lighting and a modified Arri Alexa (the industry standard camera for movies); with modified filters to capture more light in the infrared spectrum.
You've gotta see the next one in IMAX. Denis Villeneuve is the same director who made Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and a dope Jake Gyllenhaal mind bender called Enemy.

Watching this dude scream and shout just because looks cool like a blind fanatic is funny, but annoying as well. Great reaction!!
Don't stress Hannah. The marriage remains political only. The story continues and Chani and Paul get back together in the book "Children of Dune". He devotes his heart and body only to her.
@paulkellerman2603 He's not going to make that change lol He only made changes to Chani's character so the original message could be understood. That's it.
@@paulkellerman2603she's Empress in name only. Changing her character for part 3 will break the plot too much. Her role in Messiah is already written well so I doubt Denis will have to change much.
The bass on it vibrates your whole body (in a theater).
the voice is one of the coolest things. so that makes me sad.
Ash is a little bit cringe so it’s okay
I think what he meant was that jessica's voice is a bit cronky, others have a bit deep and impactful voice, her voice is kinda higher in pitch
100%
In fairness I half agree with them, that's the only part of the 2 films where the Voice felt a bit flimsy and overly theatrical to me
No good guy is ALL good. No Bad Guy is ALL bad. That's just one of the things that makes this story one of the most amazing ever written. Take away all the fantastic sci-fi, and you have an incredible human-piece that is more honest about the beauty and ugliness of humanity than almost any other story.
Imagine giving aliens these dune movies and they think it's real like a galaxy quest type scenario 😂. I wonder what they'll ask or do .
He dreamed that Chani killed him but really it was just "symbolism" for himself dying and being reborn as one of them.
it could be taken as symbolism but Paul "predicting" the future is hardly magic.
It's one of the possible futures that didn't happen.
Yup and in the book chani is totally with Paul and on his side.

Austin Butler’s portrayal as Feyd is the best yet

Have you seen his other videos? HE'S always like that 🤣
It’s his Iranian coming out.
@@samrogers5090 i mean, thats what mothers do, no? anyone except their kids
@@samrogers5090 It is more nuanced than that. You are laying out a more simplified version of my comment.
@@zackfozzy7506 Exactly. Mothers know no bounds on what they would do to protect their kids.
Nah this is the funniest, most chaotic dune reaction so far
Chani's POV and anger is totally valid, but there is no other choice.
its not valid at all, its incredibly selfish. shes only thinking of herself and nothing else.
@parlyramyar Paul's word: "she will come to understand... i have seen it" meaning its a shock for her right now but maybe later she will get it, as the consequences unfold. But let's not forget she has great wisdom and her anger is probably foreshadowing something big. ;)
She will understand
when paul drank the water of life he gained access to the other memories of all his ancestors back to the begining of time itself, so billions of lifetimes

@@ams914oh stop it. The whole dune series was anti religious anti dictatorship did you even read the books? It’s a total leftist series.

@@ReallyGoodandKind Book Chani was just a yes-woman... She never questioned Paul's decisions.

Paul is the fulfillment of the prophecy.

whats her full name
I'm glad at least Hannah understands that Paul starting a Holy War is a bad thing.
Yeah way too many people get caught up in their love of Paul and miss the message of the story. Which is super ironic cause that was the point of it!
@@Tochi68 I think it's still the lesser evil compared to just letting the Harkonnens take over
Ash, I don't remember them talking about shaving in the books. 🤣
I watched this for the third time yesterday in the theater. It's great to see you guys reacting to it today.
This might be my favorite film of all time. It's an absolute masterpiece.
But the freman have spice orgies in the book...
Actually, they don't really bathe at all. The book talks about the smell of the seitch.
In the books it says they Fremen don't shave. (Also in the books Chani is a redhead)
53:15 - "I will take the hand of your daughter"
A note from the books, about this point: it is stated, more than once, that the marriage of Paul and Irulan, the emperor's daughter, is purely a political move.
(spoilers ahead...)
In the following book of the series ("Dune's Children"), set a dozen years into the future, there is the continuation of this plotline: Paul and Irulan have contracted a political marriage, but Paul stays with Chani, who he considers his true spouse.
“Have you put deodorant on”!I adore Hannah 🤣🤣🤣
I think the reason Jessica didn't mention she was pregnant is because the current Reverend Mother would have died before the baby was born, and she needs to be alive for the transfer to work.
The only thing Jessica would gain by asking them to wait would be her own death after delivering the child. The Fremen would then be left without a Reverend Mother and have a new mouth to feed on top of that.
Instead she gambled on being able to transmute the poison before it affected the baby. Had she failed, at least she would still be alive to ensure Paul's survival and keep things moving in the direction of the prophecy.
Ash… Star Wars stole from Dune and the creator of Star Wars has yet to acknowledge the books. That’s why it feels similar to Star Wars 💯💯💯
Dune Part 2 is a monumental achievement and milestone in filmmaking. Respect that Ash got the callback from Paul vs Gurney in the first film.
I love your reactions Ash, but why you gotta bully Hannah so much to the point of pissing her off.
Cause he dim af
The opening shot of the Harkonens floating up the mountain is one of my favourite shots ever.
The infrared black & whiteish scene on Geidi Prime is meant to illustrate the way a black sun would cast on a planet. It's such a killer effect
My favorite book since I was 10 years old. One of the biggest influences on Sci Fi films for over 50 years.
Ash's Persian genes got all Cyrus'd up with this one. 😄
As to whether the girl becomes evil, she comes to be known as "Saint Alia of the Knife," so there's that.
You guys are epic! Seriously the best intuitive and funny reactions to watch eva! And Hannah the little mouse is a real thing, it's a Kangaroo mouse from Australia...and hi from South Australia!
Omg yall neeeed to watch Jennifer’s body (2009) I think Hannah would love itttttt 😂😂😂😂😂
Every time you see it in IMAX, it just gets better.
yes its onIy poIitics
53:31 Hannah used the Voice 😂
I could be wrong, but I think Ash enjoyed this.
Bro. I’m watching this with you at 9:30PM my time, both my kids are asleep, I’ve seen this movie several times but I’m still jumping up and down screaming along with Ash! 😤 This movie is a work of ART. Something Special! I literally felt transported in theaters. Like I left Earth completely. We are LUCKY to have it!! 🔥 So gladddddd u watched and enjoyed it. WHAT A REACTIONNNNNNNN. Hannah is equally invested in her own way and I love it 🙌🏾 ⚡️
I really appreciate Hannah understanding the consequences and how scary Paul's change in appearance is once he's awoken from taking the Water of Life.
I love your little snappy arguments and sassy dynamics XD
Dune Part 2 is easily the best film of 2024. Great reaction! 👍🏿
Hannah is too good catching up with stuff and foreshadowing damn
30:00 This scene isnt in black and white; and they didnt film it in black and white either. The scene is to show the lighting of the black light from the Harkonnen Sun.
They actually got the effect using infrared lighting and a modified Arri Alexa (the industry standard camera for movies); with modified filters to capture more light in the infrared spectrum.
What?? "Papa roach!??" Auto like before even watching... LOL
Wasn't ready for that... hope you all enjoyed the movie.
😉👌
This reaction is unbelivable! Almost better than the actual movie 😂 I can watch this again and again!
Raban calls the Fremen rats, Paul becomes Muaddib in honor of the rat and the most dangerous name in the galaxy, symbolism!
The only channel on YT where the intro story deserves applause…every reaction. 👏 Thank you
You've gotta see the next one in IMAX. Denis Villeneuve is the same director who made Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and a dope Jake Gyllenhaal mind bender called Enemy.
I hope you gonna check the David Lynch version from 1984 as well!
Also Assassins Creed-like game set in Dune universe would have been pretty sweet.
It's funny to see how she understand perfectly the movie and pay attention to the details and implications about what is happening and the guy just becomes the exact thing what the story critic is about. Watching this dude scream and shout just because looks cool like a blind fanatic is funny, but annoying as well. Great reaction!!
This is the best movie I've seen in years. In the cinema it was so incredible I couldn't tell what was real and what was cgi.
Don't stress Hannah. The marriage remains political only. The story continues and Chani and Paul get back together in the book "Children of Dune". He devotes his heart and body only to her.
I am not so sure. Maybe director will make changes. I hope Irulan will be real Empress.
@paulkellerman2603 He's not going to make that change lol He only made changes to Chani's character so the original message could be understood. That's it.
@@FireNooodles Irulan will be main character in Dune Part 3. She will be ruler.
@@paulkellerman2603she's Empress in name only. Changing her character for part 3 will break the plot too much. Her role in Messiah is already written well so I doubt Denis will have to change much. Only Chani was the biggest break away from the books but it can be resolved without creating further conflict.
They are together in Dune Messiah, not Children of Dune. They were already devoted to each other in Dune.
I'm absolutely thrilled that you guys reacted to Dune 2. Your reaction to the first Dune was fantastic, and this one to Dune 2 is even more amazing. Dune 2 is one of my best movies so far in 2024. Can’t wait for Dune 3 to come out. Always enjoy your reactions, guys!
