They definitely improved Adam Smasher in 2.1 update. In fact, HE ONE-HIT ME in my first attempt so if you chooms noticed in this playthrough, I immediately dashed away to avoid that kill LOL. Though you could easily match him up as long as you are maxed out in terms of attributes and perks with the right combination of weapons and cyberware but honestly, HE AIN'T EASY to defeat compared to the first release until patch 2.02. Yup....I tried on very hard, lvl 60, Got him down to 25%? And he was on the other side of the center walkway and I was running towards him, no missle launch and boom dead, like WTF? Second time, 1 shot dead, So turned it down to hard and first time killed him no problem, so what is it with 1 shot kill without any indication of how. It was on Dont FeaR the Reaper ending also. HE wasn't anywhere near me both times I was 1 shotted. Could have been a glitch in the game, the fix is close the game down and re start it. Also when I did kill him he was hanging in mid air just of the end of the second story walkway (thinking that is a glitch). Hansen is still the harder boss if taking damage was any indicator.... for me IMHO.
He actually counters Sandevistan! Thats honestly a good improvement. His health and damage output has been increased substantially, on top of what was added and done to Smasher over the last few years of updates, and has a new extra phase in his boss fight. He's also alot more aggressive in terms of movement. This is a much better fight than the original, and GOD LIKE compared to 1.0. People are expecting this to be almost like a dark souls boss, but with how broken you can become in the game that's not really going to happen, but it's very good and a genuinely fun challenging boss now.

Imagine he pops berserk and you have to emp him or you don't do damage to him, or that when the soldiers spawn, he uses them as antennas like the other runners and you have to kill them quick or he hacks you
Did this fight the other night. My hands were drenched with sweat trying to keep up with this Gonked out Choomba. The Malorian and my Sandevistan pretty much saved my life.
Whole fight isn't that much harder. But... you can't let yourself get hit. Playing on very hard, even simple arm cannon shot deals a lot of dmg (for my V with aroung 1200 armor and 50% for 60% dmg reduction, I've taken around 100-200 dmg per hit). I've died once, when he knocked me down and instantly triggered that big aoe attack. Before 2.0 and introducing Dash for V, that fight as it is now, would be quite tough. Whole fight would be better, if in phase one (when Adam has both arms) he would use Mk. 31 HMG or his iconic smart shotgun.
he is still very easy but yeah definitely a nice improvement though(i am lv 60 and running with axoltol,apogee sandy,got all the broken cyberware u can have so.... yeah)

Finally did a Male V run & all the silly Johnny things to first unlock this... and Smasher smashed me w/50% life left. First try on very hard on 2.1 too, will give a few goes but might just be a little too hard. Wonder where do I reload from.
Update: switched to katana/shotgun build, tinkered with Cyberware & focused on health regen, beat Smasher right away. I guess key is to ACT FAST cause of the Relic penalty. Good adrenaline rush, left Johnny w/Alt.
I defeated him in 2.1, so I installed VR mod to fight him again. He bugged few times and stood in the air t-posing (Probably rendering problems. This game was never meant to be VR after all, but wonders of technology). It happened like 3 times. I told to myself "Well, If he bugs again, then probably the VR mod needs more development". Yea. I wish. Side note, fought on very hard and I didn't even bother to give myself test run to make myself comfortable, so raw expierience. I dunno if this was also caused by VR, but he was so fucking aggressive. His dashing was almost nonstop, which suits lore accurate possibilies of Dragoon. Trying to keep the distance between him and myself was a nightmare. I didn't do the OP game breaking builds, straight Malorian and Shotgun. All I heard were those goddamn dashes, metal footsteps and sandevistan sound effects from behind my back. Truly a nightmare. I never sweated while fighting a boss in game, but here we are. I most certainly got Adam Smasher true expierience. It even came to moments, where he dashed right in front of me. It was fucking surreal. He caught up and overtook me. Truly a force of nature.

It is a Very Iconic Fight if you have David's Sandevistan equipped. and you start to Hear David Laughing in the background. Can you imagine being a bystander and watching these 2 fight? like watching Flash vs Reverse Flash.
Amazing fight bro..I reached him at only level 36, with just being able to go past phase one with him..procrastinated this game for a long time until 2.1 update so never knew how Adam smasher was my first fight with him...in the end, i just turned it to easy mode.. .😅 Never could fight well in the first place. 😅
One bad game design is the full screen red effect. How are you supposed to know when you are health damaged when the full screen turn red with an ability. deep purple or something would had be a better choice so the screen turning red would still be noticeable. I hate to have to focus on health bar in video game it kill the immersion . or add arms/hands upgrade for it to show a life status the way Dead Space do, it's a great idea from an old game now, but it's rarely used while being more lore friendly and less intrusive.
If I am not mistaken, that full screen red effect only shows when V activates Berserk which also makes V immune to damage. So activating Berserk allows you to not mind your HP count.
You can't, he resists it in battle and can counter you with a one hit kill, although the blackwall can still do big damage just not to the point where it will one shot him
Well you literally increased your shinobi level to 34 in the final fight lol, i mean with my 60 shinobi and 60 solo he died in 3 times berserk usage, still better than was, but nah

@silverbane8065 nah i meant cyberarms for V...making other implants visible. cdpr said they were watching modders and decided to try to give us what we wanted, so i figured perhaps they added more character customization options.

You can stun him with sonic shock but beware of his counterhacks. Use revolver, submachine gun, shotgun, mele, also use blood pump and second life cyberware. Blackwall hack will not work.

Hansen immediately run for his life the moment his HP reach 70%. And that little animation is nothing compared to Smasher's rocket launcher when it will hit you.
I'm glad they did put effort into tweaking this fight, that being said it's not much of an improvement and that edgerunner sandy trail just to appease the weebs is ridiculous. Thankfully there are mods that can tweak this fight and make Adam an absolute monster. Kinda sad tho that one person can do what an entire funded department can't.
I don’t think they should have made it like the anime. The anime is an interpretation of real-life so they should of just kept sandy in that motion blur realistic effect. But the anime go so big that they couldn’t resist to appease the fans

I feel like the arasaka heist face off with smasher has been enhanced but smasher seems more tanky than scary to be honest. The scariest boss in the game remains that damn bot chasing you through the labs.

The flesh left in him was his brain and some parts of his face. I don’t think healing implants would cover those.

Wrong Sword. Take the Scalpel(Electric based attacks) with you. Lighting Smasher up with Electrical and EMP attacks helps a lot.
