It should be noted that the La Plata station is one of only 2 Amtrak stops in MO for the Southwest Chief, the other being Kansas City. Thus the station sees a high volume of traffic relative to the population of La Plata proper. Nice to see the station rehab up close. Can't wait 'til Virtual Railfan puts up the new cameras.
@@steverudder3321 They should be pretty close; the roof has been replaced, and the new siding is up. They're rebuilding the wooden decking on the west side of the station. Somebody on the VR feed mentioned that there's still some work to do on the windows.

@@Capecodham GEM refers to the vehicle, a GEM Polaris electric car. The GEM ladies are 2 local nonagenarians who drive to the La Plata station most evenings in good weather to meet the Amtrak # 3 SW Chief.
