I love this movie. Made in Sacramento, because the River King had just arrived there. The rail road station and tracks are still there, and many of the buildings that Keaton was in still exist!
He was not only a genius, but his athleticism was unbelievable... countless scenes where he risks his life and yet retains that stoik expression. There will never be another like him. May God bless this man.
The guy playing Buster's dad looks like he could be Al Bundy's (married with children show) dad🤣 same facial features and antics. Thanks for posting all these priceless old movies.

Very nice silent. Buster never fails to impress. Fantastical stunts. the last one third of the movie is a tour de farce. A one man show, really. Just a joy to watch. Classic comedy ⭐⭐⭐⭐all week long! 👍 CCC!

This movie was made over 100 years ago. The youngest actor was probably 5. I can't think of any actors alive today who are 106, so no it isn't hard to realize.
Busters Father and Mother toured vaudville with Harry Houdini and his wife, they were best friends, Houndini was Busters Godfather. Houndini gave Buster Keaton his nickname " Buster" after he fell down some stairs at a young age. Thank You.
This and Walt Disney's "Steamboat Willie" came out the same year. I wonder if one drew inspiration from the other or if it was just one of those freak coincidences? (Willie and Bill are both nicknames for William!)

Since they put color if they put in & more relevant music & a good translation in many languages... this needs a perfectionist director... it would be a masterpiece... but I think it will happen in the future I'm sure... all for the money.. .but let's enjoy it & we the viewers... sometimes adding color to a film takes away from its charm but the characters and the setting in this one feel more alive eith color. very well done!
