Some of it actually looks good though, like the shine on cars.
But for the most part, the character models look weird the lighting is weird either too dark or too bright, and the fact they removed fog from san andreas is just garbage.

It's easy for gamers to fly off and lose their cool if a new game is bad etc, but when they remaster old games we love, and do not just a poor job, but a seriously bad job, it is super disappointing. Things like the remasters being based on the mobile ports, using shoddy ai to create character models etc, not even having qa'd the games properly. It just screams of cash cow. This has only served to make me more wary of the GTA5 remaster, which I was getting day 1. Now, I shall wait a few weeks at least as I simply don't trust rockstar now. And that in itself is really disappointing.

Obvious fog and pop-in also break immersion. I prefer a longer draw distance, but an adjustable setting would please everyone. It should have settings for the original PS2 draw distance and the new Definitive Edition draw distance, and perhaps the original PC version draw distance. I'd also like it to allow anything in between and beyond, so that in the future with a powerful PC or more powerful consoles players could just set the draw distance higher or to infinite if they wanted.

I am actually disappointed with these remasters and more importantly with the removal of the original versions of these titles on online platforms. Every GTA title has its own feel, theme, and soul. There is a unique feel and atmosphere about each of the GTA cities. But with these remasters those nuances are missing. I grew up playing rockstar's games and I love them for what they do. I hope that they live up to it for their next-gen releases
It's really interesting how everytime a company decides to remaster a game and removes the old version from the digital stores before the remaster comes out, you can pretty much expect a bad or somewhat decent remaster, almost definitely not a great one!
They removed the originals because Rockstar wants to prevent competition between the remaster and original. This would lead to less profits for the remaster.

It’s pretty good, I’ve noticed one bug. Only got to play for 10 minutes tho. But it looks good and plays the same but with much better controls. And the driving is improved a little to where you won’t accelerate too much when you don’t want to, or brake to quick. Idk what some of the reviewers are complaining about, some of the models look kinda funny, but it’s in no way a disappointment. I just hope they update it to fix whatever bugs there are.

I have noticed countless bugs. I am on the Xbox One X and performance is awful. Constantly stuttering and sometimes it freezes for a few seconds such as when driving through checkpoints in the lowrider race mission. I have decided to gameclip every glitch or bug I see in this game and boy are they adding up.

It's literally just the same with a new coat of paint slapped on. These games are classics . When they remastered Crash, and other games like Spyro, they tore down those game bit by bit and remastered it from the ground up. They were not selling it for 60 dollars also.

When you think of Rockstar Games, you think of quality content. When you think of GTA, you think of the best game ever made. It's a best-selling game that broke a lot of records and R* deserved it.... But that was almost 10 years ago. The mindset has changed a lot and the result can be seen today in GTA: The Trilogy: Definitive Edition. The goal of this remaster was to bring the classic titles to modern consoles and allow new players to enjoy the game as we did 20 years ago. But only in theory. What you get is actually not what you would expect from a GTA game, but the complete opposite. The graphics of the game seem new and beautiful for the first few minutes, but then you realize that the game hasn't been maintained at all. It's like "let's use Unreal because it has nice graphics, and just slap it on GTA III/VC/San Andreas" that's it. Sure, you can't just use a completely different engine, that requires some work.. Right? No, that's excatly how it looks like. All 3 games have the same bugs that you'd find in the original version of GTA. The remaster also introduced a lot of new bugs that just ruin the gameplay. The controls are really weird (especially in VC where it feels like you're playing the game on Stadia, Nvidia NOW, etc, but with a really bad internet connection). Some of the new textures are simply taken from GTA V, you can now see billboards with GTA: Online characters on them. A widescreen TV from the mid-2000s can now be found in GTA VC in Diaz mansion (the game is set in 1986).
And much more. That's just the tip of the iceberg, there's a lot more to tell, but I think most of it can easily be found on social media.
Would I recommend anyone to buy this game? No! If you really want to enjoy classic GTAs: find a PS2 and a copy of GTA Trilogy and enjoy the real masterpiece that R* created back in the good old days.

That's because most of the code used in the original trilogy was C++ code, and Unreal Engine 4 uses C++ as its main scripting language. They literally just copied and pasted the code and left it mainly intact(probably fixed any errors caused by deprecated code though, because they ARE old games).

Thank you! Finally someone with a brain. But zoomers and normies will still defend this sad excuse of a remaster. Anyone with a brain can tell how detailed GTA was on PS2 regardless of how it looks in terms of graphics, it's the little details they added that make the difference.
You really need to add an option to turn on the fog, seeing LV and SF from LS breaks the immersion and makes the map feel really small.

The improvement in lighting and gunfire effects is impressive. It's funny that they kept the bizarrely wimpy gun shooting sounds, but I suppose they deemed them essential to retaining feel of the original game. Perhaps. I think the shadows would look more realistic if their edges weren't so blurred.

Atleast give us the option to put the fog back, without it plus the high render distance, it shows how small the map is really especially when flying.

The audacity Sam Houser, Thomas Williamson & Strauss Zelnick had pulling a nostalgia money grab like this. I could write a novels worth of how messed up this situation is most folks especially the average fan don't know how dirty they did us like they should go to court for this for purposeful misleading false advertising no exaggeration, Strauss let out a mudslide on our childhoods while taking notes to the bank. @@robertbucad1608 uhhh, it got released like 2 days ago, and it is a remaster, technically however it’s a remake since they made it in UE4, although it doesn’t look like so. The original game was made in Renderware, Definitive edition is made in Unreal Engine 4

I’m gonna be honest, I never really was into GTA. In fact, I started playing through San Andreas only a few months ago because I was bored and knew people liked the game. Lo and behold, I have a lot of fun playing the game. So seeing how the “definitive” trilogy end up being bad was kinda sad because I am planning to play through the rest after I’m done with SA. I can only imagine the disappointment to the og fans.
These changed gaming as we know it, still worth a play even if the remaster isn’t as good as expected. Still have a PS2 & 3 for these, even CRTs. Original games on original systems on the intended displays! Retro gaming can be a bit much, but nostalgia is a drug lol. Might try this just to see what it’s like updated. $40 right now

-Remove SanAndreas Menu Sounds and radar icons from 3/VC and add ones from their respective titles
-Add Red lights to cars
-Fix VC Car Height
-Fix Map Collision bugs
-Remove Rain in Sunny clear sky day
-SYNC Weather to Respective missions so no random weathers occur after cutscenes
- Add fog option for GTASan Andreas so map would not look small
-Fix Rain droplets they look big and patterned
-Fix Some Weird looking Ped models
-Fix Typos on Billboards and Some out of place Textures
This is sh1t. What did you do to these classics just for dirty and easy money. Give the original games back. Damn you Rockstar.
