damn, they need to do an unplugged album, id like to hear some older content done this good acoustically. this was amazing. chuck must gargle with hot asphalt before every show, he sounds so badass.
Adore these guys, almost 20 years and the love keeps growing stronger, and their songs help me through, Chuck's voice helps me through, best wishes from RU, guys, take care, we all gonna need you for a long time.
This is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but was anybody else missing Jason Black's bass lines in this version? I didn't realize how much they complemented this song until I heard it without.
White buffalo, Tim Barry, Garrett Dale, Jon Snodgrass (less raspy but plays with all these guys), Ben Nichols. And I know it’s not the same style, but you have to give Joey Cape a good listen... haunting voice and amazing lyrics. (I’m biased cuz Lagwagon is my favourite punk rock band) All gold.
You're free to have any opinion you want, I suppose. As a fan for the past 15 years I can also have the opinion that the acoustic version is just as beautiful as the electric version. The acoustic version really accentuates Chuck's haunting vocals and lyrics in this tune. Also, don't forget that, as you mentioned, they wrote the song, so they can play it any way they want to.
Chuck could whisper and still blow your hair back and make your belly drop...I've said it before, but listening him is like hearing a friggin lion on a cliff roaring.
Genius, do you know this is an acoustic cover of their original version, wich, yes, have a really really well made bass line? And I'm sure I have all the right of complaining about the choice of making an acoustic cover without the bass line that themselves composed. So, if you didn't know, I hope you feel a bit stupid for replying. If you knew, what the hell are you saying?
Hi guys, can any one of you tell me tuning of both guitars? thinking about covering it with a friend and i dont know the tuning of the guitars, can anyone of you share the info? i'd be really glad ;D
Hmmm...it's not like Chuck to neuter the vocals on an acoustic version. Don't get me wrong, this is still incredible. But I was hoping for the vocals to be closer to electric version.
The Bicycle Thief is pretty amazing. Rumbleseat, John Frusciante, Local H -incredibly underrated, Blind Melon. Frank Black is my favorite musician of all time.
His amazing voice.everytime he sings that song is like he's giving his soul
Chucks voice..... so gritty, memorizing, hands down authentic. Rigid.
Revisiting... love.
"After all we can only do our best". Thanks Chuck and Chris
These guys are always labelled as punk rock, but they can only be labelled as Raw and Real. This is great.
+katadantesux Probably one of the best and most accurate comments I've ever seen
Yes! Labels can f^¢π off, when music is this real. Raw is a perfect description. Love it
I wouldn't classify them as punk but they are talented. I've grown a sour taste for them though because of a friend's obsession with them
pretty sure raw and real is the actual definition of punk though
Some of the best rock n roll I’ve ever known
damn, they need to do an unplugged album, id like to hear some older content done this good acoustically. this was amazing. chuck must gargle with hot asphalt before every show, he sounds so badass.
i am still coming back to listen to that version again and again and again and ...
7 years later..i finally came back to this version...oh my it was glorious
Who gave that lion a guitar and taught him to sing?
Holy shit what a voice
Adore these guys, almost 20 years and the love keeps growing stronger, and their songs help me through, Chuck's voice helps me through, best wishes from RU, guys, take care, we all gonna need you for a long time.
Ненавижу эту херню, вечно нахожу стоящие группы на 20 лет позже, чем должен был(
That voice...There aren't words to describe it.
I'd say "I love it" but that falls well short of how amazing Chuck is.
Been trying to go to bed for an hour but can’t stop watching this.
Oof, man, that first line gets me tear eyed every time I listen to this song. Outstanding performance 🤍🤍
His voice is out of this world
Love these guys. Been following Chuck's solo/Camaraderie stuff for the past few years. He gives so much to what he does.
Keep coming back. Just perfect.
This is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but was anybody else missing Jason Black's bass lines in this version? I didn't realize how much they complemented this song until I heard it without.
Mikey McDowell i like anything they do but yes something missing
Also the drum part is super in the pocket and really keeps the track moving
Such an under rated band!!!!
Such a great song, both acoustic and electric.
What a great voice. Lyrics are always on point. Great track!
To this very day this is my favorite version of one of my favorite punk songs of all time.
Still loving this song all of these years later
Me too
Thank god for these guys
I love seeing essentially Rumbleseat versions of HWM songs. So great.
He played this live the other night, solo, acoustic. It was amazing and the crowd really liked it and sang along with him.
Always incredible.
Damn chuck has such a great voice. What a great raw sound
Where´s the bass line? So what, its a masterpiece!
This man is the reason I wish I could sing hahaha Imagine having a voice like this!
If you like/love this, I highly recommend "White Buffalo" anything acoustic... It will change your life!
Chuck toured with them a few months ago.
White buffalo, Tim Barry, Garrett Dale, Jon Snodgrass (less raspy but plays with all these guys), Ben Nichols.
And I know it’s not the same style, but you have to give Joey Cape a good listen... haunting voice and amazing lyrics. (I’m biased cuz Lagwagon is my favourite punk rock band)
All gold.
This music video is automatic tears
love his voice!!
Undeniable voice.
best song ever?
So powerful. Simply awesome.
this will take my breath away even after i am long gone.
'bless your hearts...'
Chuck & Jürgen Klopp - awesome...
I always thought Chuck sounded like a more raspy Springsteen. Anyone else agree?
+kickerpunter I wouldn't say springsteen, He is a bit more punchy I think. I think Chuck is Chuck, no one else can compare to him :)
I never had that thought, but now that you mention it...
Way better than Springsteen, in my opinion. But I’m also not really a big Springsteen fan
You're free to have any opinion you want, I suppose. As a fan for the past 15 years I can also have the opinion that the acoustic version is just as beautiful as the electric version. Just made my year finding this
Chuck has the most beautiful voice
I love Hot Water Music. He just looks like he has gone through some shit. This is probably one of my favorite songs of there's.

Absolutely immense.

A voz dele é única

Chuck could whisper and still blow your hair back and make your belly drop...I've said it before, but listening him is like hearing a friggin lion on a cliff roaring.

It would be better acoustic but then there's that awesome bassline.
check out The Flatliners and The Menzingers
Check out the Brendan Kelly / Joe McMahon Split EP
He even looks a little bit like a young Bukowski
I know, 5 years later but once seen it can't be unseen...
By my ear, and playing simple chords behind the melody, Im going to say standard tuning.
Hmmm...it's not like Chuck to neuter the vocals on an acoustic version. Don't get me wrong, this is still incredible. But I was hoping for the vocals to be closer to electric version.
Ragan Rule!.
does anyone know awesome bands? I also like The Gaslight Anthem, Paramore, and Alkaline Trio
REPLY!!!!!
I NEED AWSOME SONGS!!!!!
Authority zero, rise against, Koffin Kats, The civil wars since you like paramore. the distillers too.
The Bronx
no worries man.. it is better, and more meaningful. nothing wrong with music minus electricity, you make the sparks yourself then :)
The Bicycle Thief is pretty amazing. Rumbleseat, John Frusciante, Local H -incredibly underrated, Blind Melon. Frank Black is my favorite musician of all time.
i dont like this song...IT MAKES ME FEEL AGAIN!!!
Blame Chuck Ragan's awesome voice not your aging ;)
Fender 320ASCE
Arthur Morgan with a guitar
Shhh.
Umh, Drag My Body without the bass... not a good choice... I mean, acoustic bass exists...
The usual chords, and a lot of barre chords
he should warm up his voice first
It's meant to be raspy, the song signals the pain he has faced in his past.
