- Newly discovered footage of Britain's answer to Elvis Presley singing at a small London venue when he was 20 years old. BILLY was extremely shy offstage but wild on and here you see him completely mobbed by girls at the end.

I was very Fortunate to see Billy in Concert and He Was Brilliant.
Still play his songs today loved him our UK Elvis ❤❤❤
He. Was. Great. Very. Entertaining.
Great Artist/Legend, And sadly died a young man, Rest in Peace Billy.
My late father saw Billy live. ... My dad also said you will never see a more handsome man like Billy. RIP both to my Dad And Billy . Rock n Roll in heaven.x
He was lucky those ladies didn’t rip him apart. I’m in my 70s now and I remember how brilliant he was.
My dad god bless him rip had great taste in music, fantastic.
Billy Fury: # 'You lead me "Half Way to Paradise"- so near yet so far away' rip Billy Fury ❤ (Anyone remember that lively Pop ballad by Billy)
Saw Billy a couple of times love performances in Blackpool. He was a brilliant performer, great voice, personality, and a handsome young man.Lovellu memories of him.How Marvalous I can still watch him now, thanks to to modern technology. Absolutely great.
Bill borrowed a bit from Johnny Ray in this performance.
I saw him in 63, Larry Parnes package tour.
His star will keep on shining, happens when an artist is genuinely loved.
My favourite heart throb from many years ago ❤️
Sadly he died young
he was very shy but if you did get a chance to meet him he was so down to earth and polite really impressed me no airs and graces like todays stars!
0:55 that girl just couldn’t handle it anymore
😂😂😂
My first single record I bought Halfway to Paradise by Billy Fury in 1961 still play this classic & never grow old record on you tube a fabulous performer taken too early
I wonder if he had been watching Elvis!
Authentic and uncontrived . Just great . And I love the interwoven vision of those girls enrapturement !
He had far greater claim and credibility to be England's Elvis more so than Cliff Richard. Larry Parnes prevented Fury from writing more of his own material. The Sound of Fury showed the potential that Parnes snuffed out.
At least it showed a few fellow Liverpudlians that you COULD write your own songs rather than relying upon Tin Pan Alley. It must've surely inspired Lennon & McCartney enough to show some "arrogance" to George Martin when insisting that THEY were the best song writers for Beatle records, not the "professionals" in London. Billy Fury's importance to what came after, shouldn't be ignored, even though some scoff at him and his "just copying Elvis." Hell, it was just enough to have a pop singer from the north, become a household name all over the UK when the business was all London based.
Wow what a find! I've always wanted to find footage of Billy live. What a treat!
So often the rather biege Cliff Richard is referred to as the British Elvis.Mainly due to his greater success than Billy Fury. But in reality as far ad musicality goes that title should go to yhis guy.Fury is without doubt the best British rock n roller ever to grace a stage. He is so underrated its criminal.
When I was a kid, I always thought that Billy personified Presley (though Billy had his own unique stage movements) more so than Cliff. As John Lennon once remarked, ' "Elvis set the stage and we all followed". Billy sang some 'covers' but he also wrote and recorded his own songs.
P.S. Cliff was also a pretty good mover. #"Move it".by Cliff, is an early brit-rock classic.
he great he must be a fan of elvis
Been a fan of him for over 60 years one of the best!!
BRITISH KING OF ROCK N ROLL NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN TOP BILLY
Sorely missed iwas going to sing with him at the beck theater but he had died before his next show what a great experience that would have been
What a performance, truly the British elvis, legend!!!!!
My Heart Throb ❤
Oh my goodness..he knew how to move and drive the crowd WILD !
His music still does ❤
He was world class☘️💚
You don’t often see a crowd reaction like that these days. Makes me proud to be (distantly) related to Billy Fury. What a legend!
Please if you have spare time . Of you could message me. My late father was a genuine biggest fan. He said there could not be a more handsome man than Billy. He used to play chicken run to his records on a juke box on his triumph Bonneville. First back to the coffee shop till the record finished. . Hope your well . Rosina x
O my my my, B F was so gorgeous and so entertaining First time seeing that particular clip & those young girls... I was once like them haha 😛
The only British rocker who actually met Elvis
The Beatles met him too lol 😅 they were just at awe and Elvis was like “ are we gonna keep looking at each other or are we gonna play some music” lol 😂
Me too ! I met Elvis in Vegas, he was waiting in line to eat at a casino Buffet. Actually, it was his 3rd Buffet of the day. I'm not B.
BILLY FURY IS THE ELVIS PRESLEY FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM .
HIS DOINGS REMEMBER ELVIS. EVEN THOUGH HIS SONGS ARE GREAT BOTH ROCK & ROLL AND A QUIET BALLAD. HE IS A GREAT IDOL AMONG ALL TEENAGERS IN THIS TIME AND PAST. ALL IN ALL, I THINK BILLY IS A GREAT SINGER AND HIS BAND MEMBERS. UNFORTUNATELY HE HAS GONE FROM US. REST IN PEACE OUR BEST ROCKER IN HEART AND KIDS 👍👍👍❤🙏❤
A TRUELY GREAT ARTIST.
lutte Elvis good voice
legend rip always in my thoughts
Was this footage taken at the marquee in London cos if it was I was there, it looks like it
I changed my name to Fury thanks to this guy x
I had a 1963 Plymouth Fury 😊
wow
As a big fan of Billy, and also a songwriter, I wrote a tribute song to Billy called "Maybe Tomorrow"(A song for Billy Fury) It's on youtube.
Hi James , really interested in your comment , so just a moment ago I accessed your song on youtube , and I really liked it ; great lyrics and good melody . More to the point though , like yourself I too am a professional songwriter and also have many of my compositions on youtube . And quite coincidentally I've recently done a tribute song to our Australian counterpart of Billy . I don't know whether you've heard of Johnny O'Keefe . Australia's biggest rock n roll star of the fifties and early sixties. And like Billy , left us far too young . After I get my tribute song finished in the studio I'll get it up on youtube . Again James , I think you've done justice to Billy's memory with your great song . Thank you .
@@colinpurssey9875 Hi Colin, what a lovely surprise to wake up to. As comments go on my music that’s the best, and thank you for that. I now know Johnny O’Keefe, been listening to him. Lot of similarities between Him and Billy. Will look forward to your tribute to Johnny. I have an album called “Journey” songs with a 60’s feel it‘a my most recent, but I just give them away for the feedback which has been very good. Of course I will now be tracking yours. They won’t be able to stop me talking about this in the pub tonight. Thanks again Colin. Brilliant!
Never heard of him. Loved the video. When was he turned lose on the world? Really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting.
He wrote his first album, he was embarrassed to say, he said put Wilberforce
Quite a Liverpool accent.
If you study it and carefully watch his moves and listen to his singing, you'll pick up on a certain similarity with Elvis Presley.
He was a fan of Elvis Ray Charles he actually met Elvis on the set of his movie Girls Girls Girls in 1962
He was the first British pop singer to write his own songs his Album Sound of Fury all the songs were
Original he was backed on lead guitar by the Great Joe brown the album got into the charts Billy was a
Trailblazer for all the pop stars who came after he was an original, a Superstar 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Who were the musicians behind him on this clip, any idea, anybody ?
Superb Gavin, my hero
Those girls are besotted with him - particularly the one in the middle! Who is the young guitar player - he is really good?
I can't be sure, but I think that Billy was being backed by The Tornadoes of Telstar fame when this was filmed.
You have to be more than just a copycat to drive girls that wild.
Your so right Billy wasa real Superstar🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The British king of rock and roll
To me he's trying imitate Elvis
Awesome
He's driving the girls mad
One in particular.
Those are some serious fans.
Really nice guy whom i met and talked with on three occasions.Maybe Tomorrow such a beautiful track Rog.Pacific Sunset Records.
👌🏼
At least 3 Justin beiber fans have watched this 😝
Elvis recorded it in 1954 I think.
Because of Love?
@@b1llyfury No the song “Just Because” was a different song from “Because of Love”. Elvis sang Because of Love in the 1962 movie Girls Girls Girls and Billy Fury recorded it later. In fact on TH-cam there is a version of them both singing it together, though of course it’s not real, just dubbed over each other.
Found it, thanks.
Great Stuff, GAVIN!
Also reminds me of the American singer,Fabian. Check out Mary Lou by the Creative Force, Amazing!
when he was talking he sounded Irish
Fury's are actually Irish sprit beings .
Зачем же так орать 😁😁😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️
Они его съели?
I imagine John Lennon doing that and I piss laughing ... No, really !
I don't mean to be mean, but he looks , sounds and acts just like Elvis. He even died the same age, 42.
What Elvis started , Billy Fury was the English equivalent .
You mean he was the English copy cat of Elvis. 100% and when Elvis didn't tour England, the British fans pretended they had an Elvis of their own. but he was just an imitation of the real Elvis. and actually comical.
@@warrendelayyour way off Billy liked Elvis Hank Williams Ray Charles Frankie Laine Nat King Cole
Yet he was no copy of Elvis he dident sing Elvis songs he wrote his own songs he was the first singer
To write and sing his own album in 1960s The Sound of Fury its a classic album no Elvis songs here
He actually met Elvis on the movie set of his movie Girls Girls Girls in 196os he had as many hit singles
In charts England Scotland Wales Ireland as the Beatles even Elvis sang covers his song are you lonesome
Tonight was an Al Jolson 1950s single his Blue hawaii was sung by Bing crosby first to be a copy of someone
Is when you appear on stage singing there songs Billy always sang his own songs on stage so you see
Billy Fury was original yeah a Superstar 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
@@patdoyle3686 He was a comical Elvis copy cat and England needed their own Elvis.
@@patdoyle3686Very well thought out and factual comment, you're a Billy Fury fan for sure 👍
@@warrendelayjust accept it your wrong Play it cool 😊😊😊
エルビスのニセモノ😮
WTF
Load of old balls..
3 dislikes ha
Couldn't move as good as Elvis but was way better than Cliff . Great video
Love this! But to me he’s trying to imitate Elvis.
And Elvis would have been what exactly without the R&B singers that came before him?
He was so handsome better than Elvis gone From us to soon
I love billy but elvis is in another stratosphere in comparison
Billy fury est une copie a l anglaise d elvis et beaucoups d autres ils ne sont jamais arrivés à cheville d Elvis d ailleurs sans Elvis beaucoups auraient faient magasinier gérant et autres .
LMAO... pretending to be Elvis. hilarious.
The bad copy of Elvis Presley
That was Cliff pedo Richards .
@@Mercmad What you have just written is liable and could be used in a Court of Law against you, as he was completely exonerated and cleared of every charge.
Elvis couldn't write a song where Billy could.
