I’m thinking through a “lessons learned” video on our experience to share advice from what we think we did right and what we did wrong so others could take into consideration if they are taking on a project like this. Would that be helpful? Feel free to make suggestions of what you find most helpful and want to see more updates of. That’d be helpful for me! I’ll do my best to accommodate when I can get the time. Thanks again for the encouraging comments! The youtube video creation process is a big learning curve.
It's been a few months. Has your lake filled up completely yet? It has rained a ton where I live lately. I'll be interested to see some fishing videos out there.
Thanks for asking, and sorry I've been quiet over the winter regarding the pond. The water has actually dropped over the winter. I'm posting a quick update shortly, and I'm working on another one to help bring you current to where we're at. I'm excited for spring, and the ice to melt so we can get to diagnosing it and figuring out the treatment to seal it up. I suspect the water pressure may be creating some ground water leaks. Anyway....I hope to post a little more regularly now that the ice is going out, and the weather starts to warm up some more. I'll be fishing it for sure. I would have ice fished it more this winter, but with the water fluctuations, I didn't feel it wise to be venturing out on the ice that far. We're about 2 feet lower than where we were last fall.
Great. You can see the progress in our recent videos. Here’s one… Grow Trophy Fish in Pond - 3 Things You NEED To Know About Supplemental Pond Fish Feeding th-cam.com/video/6R7gkJkFV84/w-d-xo.html
Yeah for sure. There’s always something I’d do differently in hindsight. After 2.5 years, the bluegills have exploded. Golden shiners have naturally recruited both years so far. Perch have spawned each spring. The forage base is strong for the SMB and Walleye to feed on. Some of the shallow structures I built got crushed by ice in the winter. All in all though we’ve seen some positive results.
As far as I can tell they have. They’re covered in ice right now. We’ve lost some water after it froze over….and I’m not sure what is causing that. That’s more concerning right now. Hard to troubleshoot in the frozen cold. Water level fluctuations and ice will certain take a toll on the shallow structures. I’m a little concerned what we find come spring. But we’ll see.
I hope updates keep coming I love this content

Can’t wait to see more about how that 3 ton boulder gets moved into place!

Big ideas. Time will tell the rest of the story. Report back for the success after 5-7 years.

Did the stakes stay put when the water level rose?
