I met Joel in Holland during a small-clinic, he's not only a amazing drummer but also a very-very gentle and nice person.
I think one of the best drummer interviews around, the interviewer asked great questions and was so excited. Joel is one of the best, great feel which so many drummers overlook. I love joels one comment about laying a foundation so the other players can play at their best.....its something I have been able to do and it beats massive chops any day of the week....thanks!
Wow... it’s like Joel and I had the same path! I started with trumpet then became a drummer at 13! The studying, practicing, timings, NARD rudiment training - and singing the beat. Thinking that you suck but others are saying that you don’t so much. But Joel? I wanna be him when I grow up (and I’m 65 now and still playing)!
The great thing about Joel is, that he thinks like a arranger/ producer but has the chops of a badass drummer. He has almost a orchestral concept of the drumset but grooves like hell...the man !

Hola Joel. Soy Juan, el entrevistador. Como bien digo en la entrevista, desde que lo descubrí en los 90 la influencia siempre estuvo ahí en cada trabajo que hacía. Tuve la oportunidad de verlo en directo con Spyro Gyra en el 95 en España. Época dorada de la fusión.
