    Nice video and thanks for helping make a decision. Been playing Tamas for the past 30 years of playing with no regrets. It's help me make an intelligent decision to purchase. I have a Japan manufactured 18" Tama Star Classic Birch that sounds similar that I'm using primarily for my jazz gigs. But the Silverstar will be my second set for practice as well as over all gigging.

    Just saw a 6 piece up for sale on my local classifieds here in Canada, and the guy is selling them for a $500 !..As a professional drummer for the past 27 years, i once owned a Tama Swingstar circa 1986, and have nothing but great things to say about that kit..I sold it because 80's hair metal was out and grunge was in, and it was a double bass kit, complete with over sized power toms that had no place in the current trend of that time.. Had they been standard depths , i would have kept them.. If this Silverstar kit is still up for sale in the next couple of months, i may have to snag it up at that price.. Beautiful Silver Sparkle finish, and 2 up, 2 down configuration , gives this kit even more versatility..

    I'm glad that Tama is getting back on track with great sounding , affordable,attractive kits..They were losing it there for a while from the early 2000's..It was all about Star classic, and nothing else..They were only focusing on high end drums, and didn't give much thought to the working drummer like myself, who don't have the luxury of endorsements.

    I was never a big fan of TAMA but they surprised me with this one.. It's far cheaper than the others and sounds real good, not to mention the awesome finishes... I'll still have to wait a little more 'till I decide, but this might be my second kit.

    I love Tama drums! They have the clean, smooth sound of DW and the powerful 'WOMP' of Ludwig.

    @cHARLESSOET I think it might be the Mocha Fade. I can't quite tell. Although if you like this finish you should also look at the Titanium Burst finish.

      Gastón Guzmán Hahahaha wow. He named the 3 biggest Japanese companies. Hahaha. That was a good laugh. Tama makes their special starclassic kits like the Bubinga elite and exotic and star drums in japan and the slp series snares which are amazing, Imperialstar, superstar custom hyperdrive and superstar classic, silverstar, Starclassics are made in china. I have a newer starclassic BB and an older Bubinga Japanese made kit. There is no drop off in quality. It’s just More expensive for production in japan compared to China but they sent their top drum makers to live in china for years and train the workers there from the beginning and now they are masters themselves. People wanna shit on the move and not even know anything about it but in the end...if the quality hasn’t dropped off, then the consumers are the winners. I got my 5 piece starclassic BB hyperdrive kit for just 1900 shipped straight from the tama warehouse in china. U can’t beat that price. Plus it comes with the new updated hardware brought down from the star drums like the quick lock Tom brackets, quick lock floor Tom legs and air cushioned floor Tom legs, new improved bass drum Spurs, the new swivel wing mounting system, claw hook bass drum lugs, and that famous tama quality built, durable, amazing sounding looking and feeling kit for just 1900 shipped. If they didn’t move operations to China, it would cost ALOTTTT MORE for all those features and that quality. No other drum company gives you all that tech and innovation for that price and the starclassic BB’s sound better then other companies top of the line flagship kits with better hardware and features and better build quality. DW collectors cost triple that much and don’t sound or feel nearly as good imo. It’s all taste but u can’t knock tama cause the quality has stayed the same for wayyy cheaper.

    • @andyham6094
      @andyham6094 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dynamite Kid cost much more for the company AND the consumer to have them built in the us compared to china. There is no drop off in quality bro. I have a starclassic BB it made in japan with the new updated hardware features brought down from the star line and they are just as good as my Japanese made starclassic Bubinga kit. Also their iron cobra and speed cobra pedals and slp snare drum series are all made in the same Chinese warehouse and they are magnificent. If u wanna pay much more, then order a Japanese made starclassic Bubinga kit for much much more money or a tama star drum if u don’t mind shelling the money out for that japanese quality if that makes u comfortable but can’t knock tama for giving the consumers a superior product at a low price point.
