      @@melin9799 A weapon characteristics video would be an interesting idea for sure, but finesse refers to the headshot/crit damage multiplier on weapons. IIRC Weapons that are considered finesse do more damage on headshots/crits than those that aren't

      Old video but this is why I tend to play tanks in Vermintide. With a brick wall/ stagger build you can really stall out a fight or help your team clutch up in very tight and bizarre situations while still being relatively safe. I guess you could call the playstyle "The Enabler" because you allow your teammates to go ham and you can almost always bail them out if they make a bad decision.

    Good stuff, especially #2. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen players get hyper-focused on what's in front of them that they leave their rear open. The worst is when you've got 2 or 3 of your teammates front-lining a horde or group of elites, and even though they've got the situation under control the other player wades in either looking to pad their green circles, or farm some tHP, or just because they're bored. Then somebody gets wrecked by that one slave rat that took the long way around. Hanging back and watching for other threats when your team has something under control might not be the most exciting gameplay, but it drastically improves the survivability of your team.
    It can be a bit different in Twitch mode when you've got a ticking counter to deal with, and sometimes you need to take risks in order to clear one threat before the next one comes and things spiral out of control. Even so, there's an adage: "Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast." Rushing and losing a teammate to something that was otherwise avoidable is going to slow progress down much more than if you took the time to approach things more carefully. (Seems to be a common theme among the mistakes in this video.)

    I am so guilty of diving in to try to save a teammate. In reality I really try to help out as much as I can (life of a caregiver I guess) and it's, NEVER a good idea when it's that bad. Keep you & the living temmates as safe as possible, TRY to get to the fallen ally but do not, dive in to save them.
    They'll be back shortly and it's not worth the damage taken /risking your life for that res.
    If they're safe behind everyone? They're safe behind everyone? Get 'em later. If they're in a horde? WELL, hopefully you'll get them before then.
    I mean, even if you can cloak n' res, there's a chance they'll stand up, get 1 shot by an elite and you're now out of an ult.

    I think I've commented on this video in the past and may have even said this exact thing, but:
    If you're struggling with #2, play solo with bots.
    Bots get lonely if you aren't looking at them so they tend to abandon any chaff enemies they're fighting to stand in front of you and fight whatever you're fighting. The amount of stuff they will leave alive behind you if you don't stay aware will quickly beat the situational awareness into you.

    The one I normally get caught out by is dropping my guard. In hordes or if someone agros a patrol I sometimes drop my guard stupidly and get punished for it. It's good to have something like these tips in the back of your mind

    You don't even have to be by a normal ledge sometimes to get killed by monsters. Got grabbed by a spawn on citadel of eternity part 1 and got yeeted straight over the fence into the abyss, whilst my team ignored me and the boss, split up and got ganged up on by the specials and boss swarm and lost us the game. The worst thing was that there was a bomb right next to me as I got grabbed so anyone could have run in and saved me and we would likely have finished the run easily.

      @@deathshealer9102 Its been a while since it happened but I'm pretty sure I was in the middle of the team, when I got grabbed. I think they got distracted by the other stuff and one of them started running off into a corridor. I think I was mercenary with executioner sword which I usually use to horde clear and help the team out on the front lines just in front of them as much as possible. Sometimes you just get unlucky and a series of mistakes happen and sometimes there's nothing you can really do about it, but thats life. 🤷🏻

  • @tommychappell6359

    I agree with overextending to rescue.. like often people tell you to revive asap.. but that's bad advice.. because often when a teammate goes down.. you end up going down too.. theres a time and a place to rescue.. but often it's JUST not worth rescuing someone.. at detriment to yourself going down.. which then means someone else has to rescue you too.. as you go down.. it's usually dangerous situation when someone goes down.. because they died for a reason.. you gotta be selfish sometimes and sod your teammate because there's just no saving them.. and instead you must save yourself.. if you CANT rescue/revive a teammate then sod them.. there's worse things than not having a teammate on the team.. there's you dying as well.. which now = 2 downed teammates.. it's common trap.. one of the best things you can do is to RESCUE yourself.. sry team.. I've had this exact scenario happen again and again.. time and time.. if it's treacherous situation you really have to make a judgement call as to whether it's actually worth reviving someone.. sometimes you just have to cut your losses.. and save yourself..

  • @tommychappell6359
    @tommychappell6359 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah there always seems to be at least 2 sources of damage from two different places.. and yes covering your team's backs is very key thing.. I feel also when I play Engineer someone should be covering my back while I crank gun.. since any number do threats can come up/crop up behind me and take me out..

  • @tommychappell6359
    @tommychappell6359 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't see mistakes here but commalities, that genuinely occur in games at any time.. 3:25 you didn't let go of your block, you were about to attack.. but it so happened to be during a mid-swing of a chaos-warrior.. You didn't just.. LET go of your block.. you were about to attack that chaos-warrior and unfortunately it didn't work out at that PATICULAR moment... because the attack-animations/timelines of you and chaos-warrior was like you were starting to attack, as chaos warrior was already commited in his attack.. more enemies you deal with, more timelines you have to deal with.. and that is unavoidable in vermintide a lot of the time.. if you mean don't drop your block by, not blocking AND/or attacking (not being in block position) then I would understand your point further.. I would agree though somewhat.. As long as your in close-quarter Combat Situation the only thing you ever want to be doing is Blocking/Attacking.. you let go of block when theres no enemies nearby.. but even then some people hold block even after the fight, such as sienna.. however its not that practical to always have block held in and out of fights.. better just to stay blocked in any/all combat situations.. Basically you should only be doing 1/2 things.. blocking/attacking.. if you let go of block randomly as this guy said.. then yeah you can be downed in short window/time... even the tiniest unblock can be enough for an enemy to get attack and and deal huge damage to your health or can down you.. its a dangerous thing to do.. even when you think it's all clear.. Ive been let off by that too.. where I think its all clear.. then that last rat of a crowd comes round the corner, and I get one shot by some rat.. which in fairness should always maintain distance from corners.. but it happened.. and I was too complacent and let go of block.. after fight was over.. and yeah I went down because of that.. but its something that i've seen again and again.. just by not having that full solid block.. over a here and there block..
    Also yeah I know no5.. It's something ive had happened a lottt to me.. especially in chaos-mode.. with tower map.. I've been taken out by vile trolls/chaos spawns/minotaurs the whole lot, and its been an insta-death, I had it in the last final ice-cave of chaos-mode as well, to a vile troll with his hammer.. positioning yourself away from a boss in-game is definitelly a good idea.. always always good idea.. it is often extremely dangerous to stand between a boss and ledge, unless you have some method of control or temporal control over the boss..

    Well if you don't attack how do you expect horde to die? and not much you can do about bad situations.. other than fight.. way out of it.. If the crowd is super dense/nasty mixed horde that gives all the more reason to attack.. to stop them building up more.. youll likely just be chased to end corners of the map.. and die there instead..

    Sometimes it's worth commiting to reviving someone and then actually evacuating yourself from the situation.. sod teammate and leave.. you tried to pull the matchstick but it just ain't happening.. in which case.. run.. don't sacrifice yourself.. never sacrifice yourself to get up a teammate.. unless with very good reasons to do so.. and will add to battle as a whole.. don't keep forcing the revive to happen if it just ain't happening.. if you try to save someone at expense to yourself that is very dangerous/risky and usually ends in disaster.. that's one of my tips.. don't force a revive that just won't happen.. and end up sacrificing more than its actually worth.. try revive but don't overdo it.. but don't Bend over backwards at expense to yourself.. unless you feel you can successfully pull off a revive that will end up reviving right person.. like a Merc who then instantly stagger the team.. etc.. or your a skilled reviver/have revival property/have a character like shade/handmaiden who can do that.. which brings to second tip.. calculate whether it is actually worth it.. choose your revives carefully.. question which ones are best to revive first.. every time you land yourself in a pickle situation.. always choose the teammates that likely will have best immediate effect first... Then the rest of the team in chronological order.. don't just revive anyone.. I'm more talking about when you have more than 1 teammate down and you have multiple options opened up to you to select which one best to revive first.. if they died and respawned then yeah want to do the same..

    I would disagree with number 3, I think You should revive teammate where possible.. where you can't don't.. its more about your JUDGEMENT and ASSEMENT of a situation than actually leaving a teammate behind.. on the contrary you could be leaving a teammate who legitimately could have been revived and if revived pose a huge boost/support for the team.. It's about getting good at Analysing a situation and preparing whether to dive in or not.. sometimes theres too much resistance, but sometimes there's less enough resistance that you can revive another.. counting reviving someone as a mistake, is sometimes a mistake in of itself.. Its about judging weight of a situation and weighing it up as accurately as possible.. and only way to do that is to practise practise and practise.. I beleive where one might have deemed it a mistake to revive someone was actually a good thing.. and where someone left someone behind was actually bad, which goes hand in hand with last point.. always be prepared to revive someone when you need to.. and avoiding escaping your teammate when they need be revived.. and mistake of mistake of thinking things are mistake when they actually are not.. sometimes they are, but many times when one thinks it was a mistake, and didn't commit.. it legitimately might have been mistake to leave than to go back and revive.. so on the counter.. always be prepared to counter leaving someone behind.. and actually revive someone.. you never know when you might be thinking/have perception/judgement of leaving situation behind is a good idea, when it might legimately have been a GOOD place/time to revive a certain player in counter to your perceived logic.. It's about Balance.. having balance as acute as possible.. so that when you SHOULD be reviving someone you are (contrary to judgement of leaving it behind). and when you think you should go in a revive someone but too risky, legitimately with legitimate judgement behind it to enforce it, leave it behind.. but that comes from practise.. eventually it becomes fine-tuned.. I'd say don't be afraid to see contrary/counter side of an argument..
