such memories. I worked there in 1975-77 and the various skills I learned from Frank, Spencer and the rest of the leadership has followed me for a long time.
Great video, I'm in the top left hand corner of the shot starting at 6:32 I have the camera and tripod with the baseball cap. Unfortunately Tweetsie is not letting us walk the tracks anymore at Railfan Weekend. It Sucks. Oh well still love Tweetsie.
You really should! My family has visited Tweetsie since the 50's. It's a great place to bring the family, and if you love trains, well... the video speaks for itself. ;)
02 Dec 2022, Dhaka Steam Rail During 1900: I Like Steam Rail: My Favourite Choice During My Child Hood. It's Coal Steam Vapouring Sound and Shoring as Well as Copper Bell Ring Are Unforgettable for Me.
Oh, how magical it was to go for a ride on one of these. Being a fan of classic steam locomotives, this was about as great a birthday present as is possible to receive. Great video and fantastic quality!
I live near tweetsie and we would go every year, I seemed to remember 12 as a backup engine, but that could be wrong. I liked watching the cowboy show as well as riding the trains. I remember one time by brother got a cinder in his eye, that was fun.
keith marron about a 30 min 3 mile ride, I would say yes it is worth the trip from new england but make it worth your drive by visiting the near by Doe River Gorge railroad which is less than an hour from tweetsie.
Can some please explain to me the real purpose of that bloody annoying bell???? What are the law requirements as to where and when it is rung? On videos that I have seen there seems to be no logic for its ringing ie out on the main line in the middle of nowhere for no apparent reason!
Yes. 190 was fitted with a 6 inch Crosby 3 Chime from the Southern Railway in the 1960s. While she has worn several different whistles over the years, her Southern Crosby has been in regular service since she was brought to Tweetsie.
I came to tweetsie railroad when i was on vacation in the North Carolina blue ridge mountains when I was 4 years old after going on the train and some amusement park rides we explored some of the buildings like there were places themed as saloons and we went to a place like a jail cell I saw a person in a another cell he looked like an Indian it was pretend jail I think it was a statue in there not an actual person
its cool how this place has REAL steam trains...oppose to the pick-up truck sized electric tram trains replicated to look like a mini steam train where the engineer sits on a fake metal/plastic coal lump of the pretend coal car to operate the train ...you know the kind you see at zoos, carnivals,Six Flags, kiddie amusement parks etc
@GenesisSanctuary They are very cool! Only visit on the Railfan weekend though, as throughout the other times of the year you will NOT be able to get shots around the park.
@Bassfanatic94 Thanks! 12's whistle however sounds nothing like a PRR 3, as the PRR 3 chimes are more mellow-toned. The whistle on 190 sounds more Pennsy-like then 12's. That high-pitched whistle is her ET&WNC whistle, which probably came from Baldwin. So TECHNICALLY it's a Baldwin 3 chime.
I used to watch this video all the time when I was little, Good Times! 😊
I used to go there when I was 4 when I visited my cousin in NC I wanna go again
My family and I came here when I was about 4 years old
What a cute little engine!
her sister 192 is in pigeon forge tn at dollywood. both are amazing works of art

Walking on tracks in dangerous and lnleagl
@@meryreyes6209 It was not illegal then, we were given special permission by the park for railfan weekend.
Oh ok but still it's dangerous
You really should! My family has visited Tweetsie since the 50's. It's a great place to bring the family, and if you love trains, well... the video speaks for itself. ;)

Same whistle now just sounds awful
Is her Crosby whistle from the 60s and 80s
Yes. 190 was fitted with a 6 inch Crosby 3 Chime from the Southern Railway in the 1960s. While she has worn several different whistles over the years, her Southern Crosby has been in regular service since she was brought to Tweetsie.

That's her original ET&WNC whistle you are hearing.
What kind of whistle is each locomotive wearing?
190 is wearing her Crosby whistle from the 60s to the 80s I think
