I shot rh being left eye dominant for 55 years left eye closed. Was convinced to switch to lh, it took a lot of practice to perfect it. My left eye kept closing when I shot. (Muscle memory). Now I can shoot equally as well lh or rh both eyes open. 25 on skeet no problem either hand. Still strongly lh dominant. Helpful in the duck blind.
I struggle to determine which eye is dominant because I’ve done the test multiple times and it seems to switch up, which makes me think I’m more centre but I think left eye dominant. First time I was right, I checked again 3 months later and came up left eye, then after that I was right eye and now I just see my finger through both eyes when I test it
I'm left eye dominant, and my mother is completely left handed. I grew up doing many things left and right, so when i started learning to shoot, i tried both, and i immediately shot left handed much better being left dominant.

I’ve been shooting since I was nine always with my right hand fast forwarding 15 years after I made the transition on the left after watching your video moving on five years later, which is now I’m shooting lefty ; still missing tho but I’m more confident with both eyes open
Left eye dominant, right hand shooter. Started shooting shotgun, rifle and handgun at an early age, not knowing I was left eye dominant. Spent 23 years in law enforcement and was always proficient with all firearms. Started shooting trap and skeet after I retired and I can say that I’m not proficient. Can an old dog learn to shoot left handed? I’m going to give it a try.
I am cross eyed dominant (right handed, left eye dominant). I recently took a lesson with a shotgun instructor which wanted me to try shooting off my left shoulder. I’ve been shooting for over 40 years and I have never tried shooting off of my left. It felt so unnatural. But after a few minutes of practice I was hitting about 75% of the clays. Then I started to practice my mount while sitting around the house. With maybe an hour worth of practice the mount because easier. I headed back to the range and told myself that I had to shoot only off my left. After about 100 rounds I started to develop the muscle memory. I was easily hitting 75% of the clays. While it still feels less natural then shooting off of my right, I’m going to stick with it.
I have the same issue and close my left eye (dominate eye), which is fine for easy shots but not for the harder shots. I'll have to honestly try shooting from my left shoulder and see how it goes. (Pun wasn't intended, but I'll take it anyway.)
I am also right handed and strong left eye dominant. Do you ever have issues with the shell ejections when shooting left handed?

Should do one on hand eye coordination, I know you did on the eye dominance. But I’ve had trouble accurately describing to new shooters the way to lead and how your hands will follow your eyes.
I grew up shooting right hand only. As I got more into shotgun sports it really hampered me being cross dominant. I made the switch to lefty, and while I'm still perfecting my fundamentals it's made all the difference!
Center ocular, righty, lefty works fine too though rather its pistol irons or 25x prs scope..both open always
I was right eye dominant but four retina surgeries and my right eye is now best case 20/300. I’m tested now and instructors believe I’m cross eyed dominant. I was thinking of switching to left side but I appear to still shoot well on tight side.

My experience. I’m right-handed, and shoot right-handed, but I’m left eye dominant. When I found out I was left eye dominant I switched to shooting left-handed for a couple of dove seasons, with dismal results in my game bags. I finally checked my eye dominance with a shouldered shotgun and wow, the right eye stayed dominant. My guess is that the shotgun barrel helped lock down that right eye. So I got back to shooting right-handed, and got myself a sxs to have more barrel under the right eye. I can still squeeze a shot as a leftie, if I have to. With bow & arrow I shoot leftie naturally. I picked up archery on my own, no teacher, no coach, before I was a teenager, living in the countryside.
I'm a southpaw and supporting the weight of the gun with my left and trigger pulling with the right always felt more natural before I even knew the difference and techniques.

I’m left eye dominant but right handed. I’ve done everything for so long with the right eye that I’d say is 55/45 left/right dominant now. Can’t shoot left handed due to a shoulder injury so I’m stuck on the right. Can’t keep both eyes open however, I’ll miss everything because the two eyes start to fight over the focus. Pistol, I pull up instantly on the left and don’t even think about it.
My wife’s eye dominance switched sometime in the last couple of years. I’m having to try and convince her to shoot left handed every time we go to the range. Crazy! She was an excellent shot…. Then started missing a lot…. So we checked and her eyes had changed. Right handed… left eye dominant.

Hi Steve love your videos I am in the UK and have been shooting for over 40 years and in the last 5 years have become strong left eye dominant and shoot from my right shoulder,I have tried every gadget possible and even tried shooting left and but after so long shooting right handed it just wasn’t working, so any suggestions you have I would appreciate

I’m left eye dominant and I can hold a rifle or shotgun properly to be able to shoot on the right side. My muscles won’t let me, I can’t stabilize the gun.

With rifles I use my right eye because I"m use to it. Started doing pistols with red dots and i'm better with my left eye I can shoot with both now but have to focus on my right eye for pistols with red dots. Rifle doesn't seem to bother me with a red dot maybe because it's closer to my face?? I think I just might be also use to it with rifles as I started out having to close my eye when shooting back in the day.

I'm 56 --------- I changed shoulders when I was 34 because of eye dominance ----- it's a 12 month project at that age, but soooo worth it ------- learning for life, you need to do it, I waited 20 years ---- 20 wasted years .....

My eye dominance seems to vary at times? Is that the center shift?
I tried to switch to left hand once, and felt so uncoordinated I gave up.
63 years old. Owned and shot rh rifles and shotguns since I was a kid. Have taken up regular trap shooting and realized something wasn’t right. After scores not improving and consulting with club members I realized I’m left eye dominant, shooting right handed. I’ve tried putting the dot on my left eye but I just don’t like how it hampers my whole field of vision. Never seriously considered shooting left handed, you know old dog new trick, but I’m frustrated and I need to trying something else. After watching your video, I’m going to try going lefty and see what happens.

Ohh the timing... So I'm left eye dominant but after always having shot right-handed with "bullet" weapons through military service and hunting it felt so wrong to mount a shotgun to my left shoulder so I started shooting clays right handed some six years ago, even thou there were clays I just couldn't see with my right eye I persevered. That is until 4 moths ago, I decided to try shooting on my left, to start with using my right handed gun then I bought a cheap L/H gun, and yes it does feel wrong at first but my hit rate did go up after just a couple of hundreds rounds. Last weekend I took the plunge and traded in my beloved R/H B525 for a L/H B725 and the first 100 gave me the same hit rate as I could expect with my old B525 but I just come back from the range after the 2nd 100 rounds and for the first time ever I got 91/100. OK, it still feels wrong and I still have to think about where my feet goes but soo worth it to do the switch and with time it will feel natural to shoot from the left shoulder.

I'm left eye dominat and left hand dominat I suck I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn shooting right eyed or right handed literally I tryed after watching this video it was embarrassing
You do not need to switch sides based on eye dominance. Just at the highschool state trap event in wi. One kid shot a perfect 100 out of 100 and he shoots right handed he’s left eye dominant and shoots with only one eye open. Just shoot and practice.

I watched all 4 of your videos and I still do not know what you mean by "shooting without aiming". I am right handed and have a dominant right eye. Can you be a little more explicit? Many thanks for your help.
In video #4 we broke down the differences between aiming and pointing. Point your finger at an object in the distance. Your eyes fill be focused on the object and your finger pointing at it. Aiming is when you are looking at your sights or barrel to get everything lined up and your focus is not on the Target.
Should You Shoot Right Handed or Left? Yes, you should.
I"ve never told the birds or any game they were shot by left or right the only thing that counts is it's on the dinner table.
