I've really enjoyed the Aaron Rodgers segments this year. I think he sometimes gets a bad rap for being a different personality and these weekly discussions have given great insight into who he is and his overall mentality. I think there are a number of players in the league who would benefit from doing similar things with media outlets as a way to let fans get to know them on a more personal level and erase false negative perceptions that may exist.

From the gentleman holding the sign when the stadium was mostly cleared to the fans showing up at the hospital in support(and countless other reasons and stories im sure I'm not aware of) it just warms my heart to see such class and empathy from everyone involved with the Bengals organization and their fan base. If you go on the field with the thought of every threat in your mind, your lack of focus may actually get you injured. To me, that's one of the most prominent reasons not to resume that game last night. Every player's mindset was rightfully taken off of football. It would have been absurd for them to even try to continue that game. Kudos to McDermott and Taylor and everyone who had the sense to do the right thing.

He was diagnosed with a condition that thinned his blood and the doctor said no more impact sports because a specific hit could trigger cardiac arrest. I was stood up as a runner my senior year and while fighting for yards I took the crown of a helmet from the other teams hardest hitter directly in my chest and for about 15 seconds I was seeing stars(weird because it wasn’t a head thing) it went away as quickly as it came. @@roarbertbearatheon8565 I know you’re probably trolling. At least I hope. But playing a football game isn’t essential. It’s entertainment. Those players saw their friend and teammate collapse after his heart stopped while playing a game. They watched him subjected to brutal CPR for 9 minutes. You can’t expect them to play after that.
I know you think you sound edgy/funny/tough but this is someone’s actual life. Those players witnessed a traumatic moment. I’m sure you’d feel a little different if it was you who saw your friend or loved one in that situation, assuming you aren’t a psychopath.

Aaron talked about the Player in the Euro 2 years ago who had a heart attack and said it was Switzerland (easy mistake, their uniforms look similar). However, it was actually Christian Eriksen from Denmark. They were lucky enough that the biggest hospital in Denmark was across the street from the stadium as well as the fast reaction from the team Doctor Morten Boesen. FYI - I just watched Christian Eriksen have a great game against Bournemouth last night. He now plays for Manchester United and also took part in this years World Cup. Hoping for a full recovery for Damar Hamlin.

As with any person who has a life threatening injury or possibly perishes, I always feel for their family. Hopefully he recovers and the family does not have to experience that kind of loss. What I’m going to caveat with is this… all over the country, and the world right now.. there are literally hundreds of thousands of professionals who are serving alongside brothers in arms, fellow trained professionals who know this night is their last. And for a lot of them it often is, whether it be in a domestic suburb, urban center or a battlefield a world away. If someone collapsing on a field and almost having their life taken shakes you.. gain some prospective. We were at war for 21 years, urban violent crime is at its highest rate in over a decade. Life hits hard, and there are professionals who have to deal with that reality, no help, little pay, little adulation or recognition for that sacrifice and the scars we have to live with after years of dealing with on the daily the public does not want to see. If this shook you, go ask a cop, fireman, first responder or veteran the kind of stories they have and what it takes to keep it all in and keep moving. You’re expected to move on whether its human or not. Aaron wants to take about being a modern day gladiator, and that all fine and well.. but you are not a captured prisoner of war forced to fight for the public of another country. You are a highly paid volunteer playing a sport with absolute top of the line safety equipment. The things that shake us, should not be a hidden underbelly of a country that has to deal with it on the norm.. except most people don’t care to know about it.

    Dr. Peter McCullough
“I watched the play live both as a fan and a cardiologist and I saw blunt neck and chest trauma, a brief recovery after the tackle and then a classic cardiac arrest.
I have communicated to one of the most experienced trainers in the world and we agree that it was a cardiac arrest in the setting of a big surge of adrenalin.
If Damar Hamlin indeed took one of the COVID-19 vaccines, then subclinical vaccine-induced myocarditis must be considered in the differential diagnosis.”

Peter "I went so far off the rails my former employer sued me after I'd already lost my job" McCullough, formerly one of the nation's leading cardiologists, apparently unaware that commotio cordis is a thing. Clearly was not commotio cordis. If u read up on that you would know. Obviously a cardiac specialist probably knew the chances it was that were slim. That hit should not have caused his heart to stop. It was s pretty normal hit and it was on his right side not at center of his heart. Also he did not stay down. He stood up then fell. And a shock will bring the heart back to rythym in most cases of commotio. I think we all need to look at the cause of this heart event. We can’t keep pushing it under the rug. Athletes have been dropping like crazy. Look at the stats! Over 1100 cardiac events this year From 2004 - 2019. 1100 recorded cardiac events in sports. Something is going on! It needs to be talked about!! Sorry if my figures are t 100% correct as I’m going on memory. The data is out there!!

I had a teammate die in 2011 in park and rec football. He had a heart attack on the field and collapsed. We played that season and every time anybody would go to the side line for a glass of water or just to catch your breath. Everybody on our team will be running over, wide-eyed, having flashbacks. We played that season, but couldn’t continue. It was too much.

Making a heart more fragile may precipitate in what we witnessed with a level of high performance competition has become problematic (i.e JJ Watts). I hope for the safety of future athletes that they actively seek all answers.
