      "Woke up this morning, picked up my guitar and I played some things, I woke up this morning and played till I made it really sing, Went to eat my breakfast, and my dog gone wife came long and cut my strings" Kind of a memphis minnie meets Robert style of wording, lol.

    This is one thing I love about the blues. The sadness inside the rhythm is so pure that it can make you shed tears over a lost biscuit roller. There's something so beautifully pure about that.

    Man there's a lot of wisdom in these videos. I really appreciate your thoughts and explanations on finger picking. Because both finger picking and slide playing has always been my weakest field. Im a heavy metal player, but I've always felt like a blues player at heart - being a born and raised southern man. It's like my ears want heavy metal but my hands of body wants to make blues. So for the last couple months I've been kinda lost on what I should be spending my time practicing on.
    I think I need to simplify things and start back at the basics. I feel like no matter how intricate and complex stuff I can pull off, I'm never going to beat the really solid and steady blues style picking that my ears want to hear.
    Music has never been about prestige or competition to me. It's always been about the love of the art. I can see this in some people. It's like either you get it or you don't.
    Cheers. I'm loving these videos. I'm subscribed.

      Heavy metal is, at its foundation, the blues, played really loud.

    • @the_original_Bilb_Ono
      @the_original_Bilb_Ono 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bchadaway7469 no... its not. Do you play guitar by any chance? Blues played really loud is called "rock" music. There exist blues style guitarist in metal (especially in the early days) but metal uses completely different scales, techniques and sounds. Metal is the least blues modern genre ever. Metal borrows more from classical composers than anything. Many metal songs contain sections which are literally note for note taken from classical songs. Some bands go out of their way to not include any blues licks or sounds in their music.

    I made this same comment on another video in this general series of lessons, but I felt like it was worth repeating on this one...
    This series of lessons are underrated. Players often talk about the mystique of blues guitar, searching for elusive paper or digital blues "grimoire"'s each one claiming to be the legit real-deal containing TeH SeCreTs Of tHe BLueS. Well folks, HERE is the real deal. Real blues musicians passing on their knowledge and experience, demonstrating and teaching "the tricks of the trade" in great series of lessons. Doesn't get more authentic. Excellent lesson. Great job!

      Grandmothers are great, and if you were fortunate enough to have one around you know what I mean. Mine was Irish, and was always singing or reciting a ditty. I could always convince her to spend 29 cents on an album that was for sale at the First National supermarket, and "Yankee Doodle Dandy, the music of George M Cohan" was a big hit in our house in the mid '50's, but shortly after I discovered Rock and Roll.

I CANT SEPERATE MY THUMB. as long my index picks in beat...ok. but if i will play the first tone out of beat or try a melody even, i m out. and so i go on and play with a plectrum. wich is sad because i love this style. but your explainings, in other videos (also some storys/infos around very interessting...) from you give me the hope to try it again. i will look it in slow mo...so best wishes from germany
