Ya know, watching this is dawned on me cuz i have been praying God show me the answer of why my testimony thus far is the way He wrote it and although I do not have an in depth answer...after reading and hearing about others who were abused differently but have common connection as to what was done behaviorally to them...a lot of abuse although including emotional, mental and spiritual is focused on the tangible world and the acts done. People as readers need that ugliness of that truth presented to them that humanity has great capacity to love deeply or destroy deeply depending on what vessel we choose to be. In my instance, the verse about setting the captives free that the captives come into His glorious light has always resonated deeply in my heart. That people need to realize the spiritual warfare aspect of the true enemy we wrestle against. Thank you for saying what you did. God bless. A lot of testimonies have been silenced and squashed because the people of God don't want to hear about pain or trial. They don't realize they deprive themselves and others of knowing Gods mode and methods of victory by overcoming satan with Jesus's blood and their testimony combined.
I think that was good to include what Jesus said about a prophet being without honor. I cannot recall if He said that IN His hometown but He was definitely referring and including Himself in that since people knew Him to be a prophet at the time of His ministry. His mother and siblings would have likely gotten wind of this saying. The Royal We, a channel tackling the topic of narcissistic abuse from a biblical and Christ centered perspective, makes the point we can honor our parents but not have to honor what they did that was evil. We do not honor evil. We do not honor sin. We don't honor things like verbal and emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse. That doesn't honor God. A lot of people who are adult children of the parents who abused them in a variety of horrible wicked ways internally get bashed with the "honor thy father and thy mother" verse. God says the second half not ONLY as a warning but as an offer of blessing and insight into His heart and character that He wants to bless us. That the blessing is worth it and an offer of the life we have here WITH Him as opposed to a life of death by the fiery tongues that spoke lies and confusion and maliciousness and have the audacity to both call it life and teach their children that they abuse knowingly to try to get them to believe that lie as well. God wants us to know the Truth. He wants us to have life and have it more abundantly. AMEN. Thank you for addressing this! It is sad abuse happens and we need more pastors in leadership that realizes this and protects the flock and walk in His wisdom.
Thank you for your honesty Jackie, we're praying for you as you navigate being honorable to a person that is difficult in your life. If you need or want to talk more about it, you can contact us at social@sandalschurch.com
Yes, obey in never speaking harshly. The catch is that God does anoint others as well with things like prophetic gifting from the Holy Spirit and yeah even if you simply said the words God told you to say you can be accused either by perspective as "harsh" or simply the person doesn't want to hear the Truth and says it is harmful or harsh. There exists a difference between rebuke and harshness. People said of the things Jesus Himself said, "This is a hard saying". People too often have a cocky, cavalier attitude more often than not when it comes to words that "come from the Lord" shared on social media divorced entirely from the heart of God or even in line with WHAT God has said scripturally.
I think you did the right thing in stepping out regarding the other pastor ...however, that church body SHOULD confront that pastor prayerfully and address things which need to be addressed. We seem to have forgotten these days in our "love saturated" theology that there is tough love and if someone is claiming to be a brother and sister and yet doing great evil, strictness, including excommunication is or could be very appropriate. I LOVE reading the prayers of John Knox. He took seriously the body of Christ and had a heart that people know Jesus and was consistent in His prayers for the body of Christ, calling out the feigning of repentance. Not taking joy in excommunication but addressing its necessity at times. Handing people to the devil, giving them the opportunity to change and learn if they so choose it. God Himself allowed a man of integrity, JOB, to be afflicted by satan. So yes we have the authority to say to leadership who have been corrupted, until and only if they repent genuinely that they ought not to be in that leadership position because others souls and eternity is being influenced and is a factor. And yes it is and should be scary as a thought. We need to realize as a body of Christ as a whole and particularly here in the west that such positions have been treated lightly. God's authority in those positions has not been taken seriously nor biblically a lot of the time.
Yes we need to learn how to speak to our brothers but we also need to learn biblically what is a sister or a brother because satan has sadly sucessfully perverted the family structure to such a degree America in particular needs to learn or relearn/be reminded how God defines family, not just in a general, overall sense structurally, but the dynamics.
This message. Wow!!! I’m repenting yesterday!
Money isn’t everything. Finding meaning and purpose in your work is. ❤
Amen!
