      Chinese rubber is too slow even with a good technique because of the larger balls, and it needs a booster. It is the Law of Physics.

    i would say that the speed comes as well from tuning, with 3-4 layers of tuner the DHS rubbers are as springy as ESN rubbers, maybe you can make a video for tuning

    agree, my experience soft rubber suit for elastic blade. I not recommend to use fast stiff blade with soft rubber, low vibration. You'll loosen control. It safely to choose at least medium hard rubber for most blade. but more stiff blade more spin decrease.
    the good blade you will need something between elastic and stiff.

    I have two old Viscaria blades. What do you guys think with rubber cominations? Is it possible to play a medium to hard rubber? Does it go with a sticky chinese rubber or is the blade to hard for that?
    My personal feeling is that the Viscaria is an extremly cool balde and it goes very well with soft rubbers. I started to play with it in the 00years so still with speed glueing.
    I tried carbon blades, they are very cool to play also but quite hard to topspin. Too stiff I think...
    The Viscaria is better in this area, I feel it's better to Topspin. In German we would say it has 'ein weicherer Anschlag'. It means the first touch it s softer especially when playing topspins. But with straight strokes it is also very fast and has a great sweetpot. Not as fast as a carbon blade but still great....
    But I am afraid the blade is not flexible enough for a hard rubber. Especially because we can not glue anymore to soften the sponge...
    Would be a medium hard Chinese rubber a solution?
    What do you guys think???
    Answers and thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!

    You claimed that Chinese players don’t play with carbon blades, but
    Ma Long plays with inner layer ALC carbon on his Ma Long blade
    Xu Xin uses the Stiga Dynasty Carbon (Xu Xin edition)
    Fan Zhendong uses Viscaria but with a Infinity VPS handle (Viscaria uses ALC carbon)
    Zhang Jike uses Viscaria
    Lin Gaoyuan uses Viscaria as well
    Countless Chinese Women’s team members use Stiga carbonado.

    I've currently experimenting with H2. And curl p1r as a modern def. I use to play with H2 speed glued it was great. I love the hard direct sponge although it don't play that good away from table, where my other rubber and blade (juic spin spiel) is much better away from table. I did try skyline 3 but not so impressed.. for sure the faster rubbers like tenergy are a handful in the right hands. But it's great to beat someone playing a cheaper rubber over a pricey one. Hense confirming that technique wins the day....😁

    Hello! In this video there is a "Ma Long" blade from years ago... it is TB ALC (Carbon blade), and there is ZJK's blade shown also... that is a Viscaria... (Carbon blade) so they use Carbon blades!! Otherwise the conception of the main thing you want to say is not bad... :)

      Thank you Laszlo. I mean "carbon blade" in the video is something like Schlager Carbon, Tamca 500 ! Viscaria for me is not a carbon blade. :) Also ALC and ZLC is not a "true carbon" blade.

      I have played with an ALC carbon blabe for 10 months. I thought it was amazing but in this week I started to try a 5 plies wood blade and now the end of the week I really like it because I think it's more reliable with chinese rubber and my play is better. The speed is more than the ALC blade because I can do the good technique and I became more stable and my equipment is lighter so my hand is faster.

      W968 has more wood feel. W968 is slower on touch stroke and powerful on hard stroke. W968 has more dwell-time, more control then hl5. Hl5 not as good at touch game, less dwell time. I have dhs pg5 professional version(Clone w968). It blade also has good dwell-time, good touch game, power on hard stroke.

    Super useful video too: I used to play with my butterfly OFF+ blade and adidas p3/p5 rubbers, but I cant afford to pay better rubbers like tenergy 05... and found a used blade at our ebay (mercadolibre), a Stiga Allround Evolution with Bluefire M1 and Acuda S3. My game improved very much with this blade! the feeling of the ball is more noticeable and I have much more confidence! I can strike harder and I am thinking about buying a non tensor chinese rubber now... I use to strike very hard, would it be good for me?

    • @lolidk9842
      @lolidk9842 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm yes it would since Chinese rubber not as bouncy as tensor rubbers, just don't hit too hard and complete your strokes, use it and feel what is the adequate amount of strength needed.. good luck.

    Is it Stiga per se or Stiga-"type" blades? If you look at the pile of rackets on the table, you'll see a Donic blade, a Butterfly Viscaria, and a DHS Hurricane Long of some sort. The last two are not all-wood blades, they're carbon-arylate blades and are fairly fast.

    • @tianqinwen
      @tianqinwen ปีที่แล้ว

      more a stiga-type. Majority of Chinese kids start with Stiga CL nowadays and some keep using Stiga CL in international games. Yes, some of them will migrate to ALC blades, not you don't start with that as a beginner. Pure wood blade is always recommended. And Xu XIn is still using pure wood blade and he is amazing.

      Xiom Vega Asia (I use it currently). It is not pricey in comparison to Tenergy
      Good spin
      Good power (spin and speed, but only when hitting harder as it is a medium rubber)
      Very easy to place the ball everywhere
      Can be used further from the table as well, if that's the case hit superhard
      Very easy to chop-block as well

      Since it is a soft carbon blade I assume it is in an all+ to off speed-class. In that case, I'd suggest starting with any medium rubber that has a grippy topsheet, and then progressing towards harder rubbers, maybe even a tacky rubber (if you want)

    I can't decide between DHS PG-7 and Clipper, any advice?

    • @boogeylite7899
      @boogeylite7899 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the PG-7, its an upgrade from standard wood rackets as it has 2 hard outer-layer wood and 5 soft inner wood
      It might not be carbon stuff (I don't need that stuff at my level yet), but it increases the stiffness of the rubbers based on my experiences and I love it. I have been using it for 2 or 3 years and I am happy with my purchase xD
      Stiga Clipper, I have heard good things about it but I haven't played with it at all. Soooooo I can't help you there.
      But I recommend PG-7 or any of the similar PG series to people who want a little extra "POP". I can say that before the PG-7, My rubbers felt bland and slow but I worked on the spin/speed on my own. Get the PG-7 and it brought the rubbers to life and I was wow'd LOL

    • @ultramagneticsago6329
      @ultramagneticsago6329 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually went with PG-7 and am loving it along with h3 neo on FH since two months ago, it really is a very good blade, it has power from away the table and I love counter looping so, I think it fits me just fine~ keeping the ball on the table is sometimes the problem as PG-7 is kinda somewhat a little stiff....but this means that I just need to work on my technique more... :D

    • @boogeylite7899
      @boogeylite7899 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as it is Chinese rubber on your forehand and a Butterfly (or any other highspeed rubber that is lightweight) then you should be fine
      I've made the stupid mistake before at the beginning by having two chinese rubbers on both sides and the other people at clubs said it wasn't right because they are basically weighing down the entire racket
      Further more, forehands with chinese rubbers can utilize the larger or wider (whatever it is) range of motion of the arm to generate spin/power.
      Backhands, however, don't have as much room to work with. That is why most of the top chinese players use some sort of Butterfly rubber on the backhand side. Its just more practical/efficient

      This is true. The reson for this is that Timo Boll doesn't boost his rubbers. All chinese players and a lot of other players (even with tenergy) boost their rubbers to enhance the speed of the bat.

      That's BS, it's how they swing, players like Boll, Mizutani swing with their arms bending and start swing with their hands besides or even in front of their bodies. None of the Chinese player swing like that, they swing with the arms extended, and start swing with their hands way behind. Check the video.

    but i am surprised that u didn't mention one of the greatest chinese rubbers ever produced. the rubber with which wang liqin ruled TT for over 10 years. the DHS HURRICANE 2. extremely hard to control due to very low throw angle and sinking after the bounce but if u cud tame that rubber as LIQIN did then its probably one of the best chinese rubbers ever produced. i wonder why modern players pick H3 over H2. He would speed glue the hell out of it until it is not hard at all but super 'soft' and elastic. Boosting these days does not add elasticity to the topsheet, so there is lots of tension added but the way it plays is not the same. Anyway, he had monstrously amazing technique = 100% important.

    The examples given in the video aren't always true to your explanation (although your points given are largely correct, especially for the older generation Chinese players). I think majority of CNT players today use blades that don't have much feeling (i.e. Viscaria, Boll ALC). Compared to blades like those from Donic, the feeling factor is a lot stronger than the ALC blades from Butterfly.

    Hello Coach, you make great and very knowledgeable videos. Xiè xiè. I have a question. How would a suitable blade-rubber-combination for a child look like? My son (8) is currently playing with a good beginner racket. However, it might be a good idea to get him accustomed early to the Chinese forehand. The Chinese rubbers are normally very thick. Do Chinese kids play with thick forehand rubbers? What about backhand? I would give him my Allround Classic or the OSP Origo.

    Cant decide to adjust what is right or wrong, but can say what is good or not good.
    And the blade support rubber by pass(POWER+SPIN) glue layer to sponge and rubber sheet.
    EX. normal blade + good rubber = its bounce and spin but low power and spin.
    good blade + normal rubber(from complete blade) = ? (i guess you all knew it well)

    • @pingsunday
      @pingsunday  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Believe me !
      The blade decides 80% of the spin and power. Choose a good blade, and find any medium/medium hard rubber.
      Rubber technology has made all of you "blind". There are many type of rubbers, however, your table tennis won't improve.
      In China, they don't have enough money to buy such a Tenergy, however, their table tennis is very good. :) Think about it. Have fun !

    • @carmino18
      @carmino18 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EmRatThich Gaming discussion make me fun.
      then how blade create spin ? only thing i know is sponge×blade hold the ball and rubber sheet will brush to create spin.
      And you are right about techno rubber that make ameteur blind, but if we know how to play with a fine technique techno rubber will safe our muscle for double shot or rapidly player who play close to the table style.

    • @pingsunday
      @pingsunday  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. For a normal table tennis, sponge will hold the ball and you brush to create spin. (European way)
      However, chinese technique has found a new way to increase spin and power. The power come from your legs, hips. And you can add speed and spin by rotation of the hips. And to increase spin, you should use harder rubber.

    Hello, Before I watched your videos I bought a Nittaku Acoustic Carbon Inner blade with Xiom Vega Pro max on one side and Xiom Vega Euro 2.0 on the other side. I started 8 months ago and I have been playing or practicing with a ball machine every day for 8 months. My coach says I am now playing at about 1600 and that I have improved faster than he has ever seen. However, I am 58 years old and I am not sure if I am fit enough to commit to a complete power game for 6 matches in a day. I do like playing all aspects of table tennis so my nature is more all around but if someone starts to bully me I want to use the power game to neutralize them. My weakest area is close to the table due to slow preparation, anticipation and recognition of what the opponent has hit to me. My technique is fairly solid but only when I have prepared well. From what you are saying I have the wrong rubbers and possibly the wrong blade. This blade is supposed to be off- or off. Should I change this blade? Or should I put a Chinese medium hard rubber on this Nittaku blade (if so which do you suggest?) or what else might you suggest? I currently have a new sheet of Rakza 7 soft 2.0 , 2 Kokutaku Blutenkirsche 898, 2 Yinhe Mercury 2 2.0 and two sheets of DHS National Hurricane 3 Rubber for $30 each ( I know these are counterfeit but I bought them before I watched your videos).

      Steve, I used to train with an old man who has the most Table Tennis gold medals for his age representing Australia. These are the things he says that I still remember: 1) Find a good blade and stick with it! Changing rubbers is ok, but don't keep changing blades. 2) Training with robots is only good for basic technique development. Neglecting training with another person and focusing solely on the robot will make your game worse! 3) You are 58? This guy I play is almost 70. He is on another level he runs me around in a pool of sweat and knows how to exploit my weakness and doesn't allow me to play wot my strengths. It is all technique, anticipation and thinking a few steps ahead of your opponent.

      balsa blade is really good blade to learn basic technique or correcting your table tennis technique. tibhar aurus soft is good for looping and play very far from table, but you cannot hit really hard. it will let your ball go away from the table. choose medium soft rubber or harder rubber then correct your technique. you will be good then.

      As beginner, don't buy Tenergy!! It's way too expensive. Get yourself some nice medium (Tensor) rubber with not too much thickness, a slightly offensive blade (assuming you want to play offensive) & practice, practice, practice. Everything else is wasted money and time (because you focus on equipment, not on training).
      Later you can experiment with hard rubbers, tacky Chinese rubbers or the Tenergy stuff.

    I have used Chinese rubbers for more than 15yrs. The Chinese rubber is not an all blade rubber meaning you have to pair it with the right blade to make the best of it. Unlike Tenergy 05 and other Butterfly Series which can be use in almost any blades. Even though some Chinese players use butterfly blades majority use STiga and a few decades back Avalox blades.

      from what i heard, your style is similar to mine you re a looper, and you prefer to attack with strong topspins, from close to mid distance, with much spin and effect, i don t know your technique level, and we always have to improve, but for my experience, i'm more and less of middle level in my country (4th, 3d division) i suggest you to try nittaku acoustic with a spinny/fast rubber (tenergy05, rakza, tibhar evo, donic bluefire, acuda, joola maxx) this set up improve my game strongly!

      then, it s a wrong mental approach man! keep on practicing, and during the practice try to imitate all you would do in a normal match, when you start to have fun, you ll notice a decrease of mistakes, and your game will increase! so you can try to redo the same good things you did, in the match, at first you ll mistake, you ll probably lose a set or two, even the match, but when the engine will start you ll be able to play your game, believe in yourself and keep up the good work, my country is n t a good country for table tennis, but this little rule helped to become a discreet player for the italian 3d or 4d division, to believe in yourself. cheers for your new season!

    DHS rubbers like tinarc 3 and tinarc 5 are too hard and too slow (untuned) compared with the ESN normal rubbers (untuned too) The same thing with the DHS skyline 3-60 and the DHS Hurricane 3-50 for example but not in the Hurricane 8 because the Hurricane 8 hard version is faster and a good rubber !!! i don't know if the other DHS rubbers are faster or slower but i like the Hurricane 8 only (for the moment) I love medium and medium hard rubbers like tenergy 05 FX, tibhar Evolution EL-S and EL-P, Joola rhyzm tech, Adidas ten zone ultra soft etc........ but not more than 45 degrees of hardness.

      Timo Boll ALC, and Viscaria is not a super fast carbon blade. ALC is soft carbon, and has good dwell-time. I said Chinese players (at the beginners) level, they all start with a slow blade. While I agree that most people buy blades that are too fast, I don't see any data anywhere to back up the claims made here. Chinese TT players win because of their training. If the blade and rubber made that much difference then why don't all the Chinese players use the same equipment? The paddle preference is basically a matter of whether you like it or not. That provides the confidence mentioned to play more aggressively but the player still needs to be good because control is NOT a feature of the blade or rubber but only the player.

    This is such a bull shit video. Did not expect this from coach.
    Tacky rubbers help with close to the table game, mostly becuase Chinese players r short and stepping back they would have hard time covering table. Tacky rubbers have more control on loops from close to table. Grippy rubbers need player to play mid distance to put same kind of look. Europeans r taller and hence they prefer mid distance play.
    Tacky rubbers also allow smaller players to put more spin with minimal arm movement, also keep ball low on short game.
