I remember when I was a cadet, we went away on our annual camp and we see in the distance of the camp around 20 Gurkhas , constantly running around this circuit with one of them on each others back, constantly rotating, they did not stop while we was sat down watching in awe for half hour. Never forgotten that day absolute warriors

Ex-chosen one here. (Sounds funny that) many a time been in a trench with a Gurkha) Big respect, not cos of their soldiering, that too, but because of the conversations we’ve exchanged whilst being freezing cold, soaking wet in Brecon, or in some such other lands, discussing cultures and life, with chattering teeth, whilst being switched on to our job. Weird. Hard to explain.
And, also being an ex professional boxer, I completely resonate with the talk about men that are disciplined in some form of fighting skills… I’m teetotal now, but in the past, been in many a pub, with some lunatic wanting to exchange fisticuffs, for one reason or another… I’ve always, always declined… many a friend, at the time thought I was a coward… nope. Couldn’t be arsed to comply. Not cos I think I’m tough, not because of the fear of losing, or hurt, but because there is nothing ever to prove but you’re own dignity. And I have never given a shit about ego.
I wish our world was full of peace, love and knowledgeable warriors. Fuck me, I’m getting soft.
    Enjoyed the podcast, thank you.

What a wonderful child hood Krish Thapa had. It’s the simple things in life that matter. We in the West are becoming more toxic we are all trampling over each other in a race to be better and to have more and more. The older I become the more negativity I see. People are to eager to gossip and don’t care who they hurt, that type are never happier than when they are destroying another persons reputation. All is vanity and a striving after the wind. Each day has enough worries for that day. We need to get back to being satisfied with the simple things in life. Look out for each other be kind to each other. It takes less energy to be kind than it does to hate. Respect yourself and others.

The thing I'm sure will never fail to amaze me with every Gurkha I have ever heard about/come across personally (countless stories giving nothing but credit & respect from My Grandad & his) - is their level of humility. And it appears they are no different as people today than their very own WW1 and WW2 Generations & those before. Given without doubt they are absolute warrior powerhouses, physical & mental strength next level, they somehow manage to retain such gentle natures & overall decency as a people. As Men. It's easy to get carried away with interviews from all those claiming to lived or living the supposed high life - those all about the fame, fortune, and all of the real grit - serious addiction & major crime "come back" stories - don't get me wrong, I watch them all & enjoy the majority - grittier the better if genuine and good can come from the stories (but even even those so blatantly full of shit are worth watching for the giggle) but the much rarer like this interview are the real gems..... pure gold, heartwarming and very grounding.
Let's face it, living life nowadays (in the West) seems all so geared toward or all about money/status/ego & so little about everything else that money can't buy & the morals & qualities & lifestyles that really do matter... Where are all the decent people, Nepal?!
We can be forgiven for thinking almost everyone supposedly "powerful" is corrupt & greed fuelled, but I find just as many average people are hellbent on having some sort of social media celeb type status when the reality is, alot of them (and that) is just fake & grotty.... I love James' honesty re the lack of respect both Women & Men seemingly have for themselves and for each other these days... truest story right there sadly (& as Our Generations go, they seem to be getting worse not better) Very long winded review lol but I'm touched & felt compelled to write as much; this was a beautiful interview - Thankyou xxx

Such a great shame on the feeble cowardly UK politicians that despite the Gurkhas long service to the UK they had to fight for the right to remain in the UK after they retired. If it had not been for the Ab Fab Joanna Lumney lending her weight to the campaign they might well still be turfed out after they finished there service. A lot of new age numpties go on about oneness but this man really lived from that humility of regarding nature as sacred
