And his best work was the crosswalk numbers countdown in Nas Halftime video, in my opinion. I really like all his videos but there is something different and still special about this visual.

Oh, Ren. The mother in me comes out each time I hear you. I'm so proud of you, and my heart explodes with each success. You have so many strangers who want nothing but the best for you, sweet boy.
I’m 57yr old Aussie, Bitter Sweet Symphony has been my all time favourite song but you have absolutely nailed this version. Much love ♥️ to You & Britain
It's my daughter's 21st birthday today, and you, Ren, are one of her absolute favorite humans to ever exist. This is magical! Happy birthday, Riley Marie.❤😊
54 year old with CPTSD! You inspire me every day! That was banging Ren! Thank you! Your voice, you are a musical lyrical genius of our time! You get me through every day! Thank you for being YOU🔥❤️
Phenomenal as expected. I’m a 50 year old man, and happen to be just chatting to the gentleman upstairs, saying what music I was into, and saying, he had a hairstyle a bit like a singer, called REN who he’d probably never heard of. At that very moment, he was listening to uninvited on his headphones…..no shit!
I’ve never been more wistful for the memories I definitely had in a place I’ve definitely never been. The feelings this invokes cuts across continents and cultures. Magic bottled up in a song. Never stop doing what you’re doing man.
All the way from South Africa...! Ren and all your crew, you've turned ripples into tsunamis..! Your influence is a positively powerful one, and the world needs more of you..!
And yet another South African fan! Ren is storytelling of the highest grade - honest and raw, but always intelligent and carefully assembled to flow from word to word like liquid poetry.
The way you are able to understand the meaning behind a song so that you can do a "cover" that is true to the original while also being 100% an original piece of work is truly a gift. Thank you so much for the art that you share with us.
Bittersweet Symphony is a song that I grew up with. It an era-defining anthem of many a chilhood for us millenials who witnessed the 90´s. I´ve taken it with me through some of my happiest and some of my darkest times. I moved to Spain two years ago after observing a Britain I no longer recognized but the poetry oozing from these lyrics really does paint a picture of our beloved country with all its cuts, bruises and beautiful juxter positions. I Shed a tear. Artistry at its finest. Hats off to you bro
Keep up your magic as long as you can. I discovered you the week this year I lost my father and best friend in that week and in the darkness I heard one of your songs and I started checking out your music. You don't need me to say your special much love and prayers for you and your people sincerely a nobody from way up north in Alba.
I'm 47 years old, a Gen Xer. I used to say that music was like my religion. I feel like I've been wandering in a music desert for years and years. But Ren (and a few others) are getting me excited about music again. What a gift. THAT WAS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!
It may be because he is unapologetically himself, and that is something we all wish to be, but so many fail to be. As a result we look at those who are with respect and admiration.
A poet, an artist, a living legend, a force so unique and special, the connection I feel to you is so strong. I cheer for you to succeed in whatever you need to succeed with to gain happiness and peace...that's what you deserve brother. This was absolutely legend! ❤
This is my absolute fave piece of music from the 90's (I like all genre's of music and I miss the use of big string instruments in music atm) Atm I was 32 and struggling very badly with bipolar disorder and I can't listen to it without tearing up. But you just made it so I can listen to it again because of your wonderful lyrics. Kudos and ❣ from Australia.
That part where you say “bare with me “ and with your hand everything stopped is awesome. I love the line about poetry in the city if you listen enough! Every single time you drop another song it encapsulates me. Great job is an understatement, Ren!!
Ren's lyrics are like a lyrical rollercoaster; they twist, turn, and drop us into a world of emotions. It’s a wild ride, but we're always eager to hop back on! 🔥🔥
It is said that the sunshine of Britain doesn't come from the dense clouds, but by the people who bring the warmth in from the cold. How your art brightens this world beyond the limits of even that sky orb known as a sun reminding us all what it means to be human. Thank you with every extent of gratitude that can be defined for keeping this world from boiling over with hate but instead finding temperance with compassion. Forever a legend mate
I love this rendition too, strings and voice make it more "peaceful", keeping the Verve's two last line hits hard, food for thought indeed. It's brillant ❤
Man, I had goosebumps the whole time. Something about this track, I can really hear it in his voice. I'm still shook. Amazing, unbelievable, insanely beautiful. A man of his craft.
I run an open mic outlaw poetry event in my town in the U.S.--the woman who hosts it with me turned me on to this rhyme a day ago. I instantly loved it, and I wanted to say, respect for overcoming Lyme Disease. I had a friend who had advanced Lymes in NYC, and I know it can be hell. Thanks for the awesome vid, and may you always be on one!
Im from New Zealand. I lived in London for the first decade of this century. And I smoked Marlboro lights. While listening to the verve and all other Brit pop. Love it up high.
On 8/26/23 I lost a dear friend tragically. This song has followed my friends and I around following his death. It’s oddly comforting that you are releasing this on his 1 year heavenly anniversary ❤️😇 Your music means so much to me ✌️
Wow, what an experience! What are the chances? So, it will be an even more special moment for you. My brother passed at 35 y/o and his best friend took his own life one year and hour to that date man, that was hard to go through! Wishing you the best!
@@Tinkerbell9332 Losing a brother/sister is so damn intense due to the unique bonds shared while growing up together. Plus it will always be a gone to soon story. Just remember you share the same DNA! plus you could sit anywhere anytime & have a conversation with them even though they are not there physically they are still there and you'll know the answers from him that you ask or wonder about.. They are always there.

45 years old and 2nd generation American from British roots. I feel this in my bones even if I never lived it. Shout out to Derby and Nottinghamshire. Shout out to Wales. Shout out to Glasgow. This takes me back to the home I never knew.
There is something so deeply special about taking an icon of a song, adding the type of lyrics you write and then performing it live with a proper band of instruments… Just argh 👏👏👏
@@cathywethington5913 i do like it . I'm just saying that I know much more talented musicians then this guy. I saw him play guitar that was pretty good. But for example i know guitar players who are way better then him
daanbrekelmans, I'm glad you like Ren. I think my problem was with the bluntness of your comment. If you'd said "I like Ren, but...", I might not have responded. The thing is that it's all opinion mostly. My favorite guitarist is John Butler. If I say he's the best, that's just my taste. I understand on an intellectual level that Hendrix is great, but I don't personally respond to him. I don't mean that all art is equal, that it's ALL just a matter of taste. It's just that once it reaches a certain level, it's a matter of preference. Just like I know Mozart is great, still I prefer Bach or Mendelssohn. Sorry for the long winded reply
Ren I was only introduced to your amazingness a couple of weeks ago and I’m obsessed!!! This blew me away. Love hearing u sing in this🥰 your voice is amazing and u should treat us to it more ❤️ please come to Scotland soon 🏴 xxx

Children of the moon is actually my favorite video! Very George A Romero! And crutch is beautiful! I feel that was a very challenging one to perform for him emotionally
I've been in the music industry for over 40 years as a session guitarist ,I've recorded and toured with some of the best musicians around ...this man has a special talent
@@NealSinclair Absolutely fair critique, because I came to the exact same conclusion when I was introduced to Ren via this song (literally last night) so please follow my path of discovery by listening to 'Hi Ren' or literally anything else by him, and you'll instantly see his scope and range is far beyond anything Mike Skinner has. I repeat: do not write him off on this song as I nearly did, because he's got more sides to him than a coke can.
@@NealSinclair I'm old too and I'm not talking about this particular song ..This young man is a great lyricist ,guitar player and has great talent for musical arrangement ..He's a diversified musician..I for one don't care about rap or whatever you want to call this I've seen a lot of his other work.
@brainmcilroy3920 I don't think his lyrics hold a candle and yeah I completely understand it's not going to be a popular opinion in 2024😅,though I'm prettty sure he's been an inspiration to ren at some point.
I'm 11,342 years old and can still appreciate this take. Believe it or not, greed and poverty were still intertwined back at the end of the last Ice Age. People haven't changed much since the Younger Dryas. Peace to you my pal Ren.
We need to be have to be the 3 generations X Y Z and the Generation we failed , the Millennials this is our time our sacrifice we have to right the wrongs fight the worst humans to ever walk the planet the insatiable lust for power, money and unimaginable plan of world wide mass murder and starvation to solve the problem they alone are responsible for. We can’t wait until the first manufactured crisis to act it will be to late. All the Christians I am very sorry but we can’t wait for Jesus to save us. I have come to believe Jesus wants us to become the people who he taught to honor the spirit that lives in humanity to understand god didn’t just create us in his image but gave us the spirit of god in our souls. We must act
I’m new to Ren this week. What had got me thinking the most is how one person can be gifted with such talent and the artistry that goes with it is immersive

Over here in the southern US with all its fucked up politics and no health care, i showed some of these guys your music, if you could work with them, imagine. Illness across the work, gutter punks and kids just praying to be understood, reaching through music. The underground scene in Nashville TN is waiting for you ren.❤❤❤❤ check out benjamin tod guys!!! They will change the world with music.
Beautiful! Well done with this new Live, Ren and Josh and well done to the String Quartet too! What a great, poignant place you chose too; the original video showing Ren's beloved Brighton, then the quieter, slower back-side of British Life. Loved it all.
Some person by the name annerigby4400 keeps posting false information on this comment. I have politely responded to her post several times only to have my response deleted. Yet when I have reported her comment for false information, it gets put back up. Don't know why this is happening. Does anyone know how to contact TH-cam?
That authentic rawness hits me so hard, every time on those last two verses... Yes, epic is the word! It's when I truly FEEL the emotion of the whole piece the most. It's breathtaking, (literally).
I don’t comment much but I had to! WOW!! Very very humble and British….REN. Well done and thank you! What a way to bring it back to reality. Raw in all its forms and glory. Well done and please keep it up!!!
FEELS GOOD TO BE HOME!
Thank you everyone who joined me for my first premier in a run of many this year!
Music will be flowing fast from now till the foreseeable
as always here are the lyrics for anyone who wants them
I've got dirt on my Reeboks from staying out all night
I spent my last ten pounds on this pack of Marlboro Lights
I phoned up Stevie, I said "G, you alright?"
He said "It's six in the morning, brother! Get some shut-eye!"
I feel a sense of well-being this time in the morning
Wear my heart out on my hoodie while the city is snoring
Drunks falling off the sidewalks, get issued a warning
Distant sirens, they crescendo like a symphony calling
This it the Britain I know, this is the Britain I love
There's poetry inside this city if you listen enough
Working class causalities out on the streets sleep rough
While a mother with her baby takes her pram to the pub
And while she's knocking them down, the cost of living goes up
I can't relate to politicians with their head in the mud
I resonate with messy Fridays, with the boys smoking bud
We do our bit to numb the struggle, as below, so above
As as above, so below, here in the city we glow
I blow a smoke ring up to heaven and it makes a halo
And then the clock strikes seven, guess it's time to head home
My companion is the city, so I'm never alone
I'm stepping in and out of gaps of the pavement cracks
And if I go to sleep now, that's an anti-climax
People rise for work and the sun mirrors that
A perfect juxtaposition for those out on the lash
Bare with me, it's beautiful, I think its irrefutable
There's beauty in a contradicting Britain... Indisputable
Junkie in a cubicle, that old spoon is usable
His mother's in a black suit, crying at a funeral
Nine to five crucible, this route is not commutable
A kid falls off the tracks and then he serves a stretch in Juvenal
Libbies at the Doleys but her dispositions humourful
While Davey's at the bookies and his mates call him delusional
Britain, drink it down and moan about the weather
When the sun starts shining feel the factor 10 tremor
Boys will be boys, will be in it together
Until the fists start flying like they're Connor McGregor
And then he's out... I think he took it too far
I think the boy saw red, I think he hit him too hard
Now he's face down on the pavement with a face full of tar
Mad how small altercations can define who we are
That's my cue! I guess it's time to head home
It's bittersweet how my high found its way to be low
And I've said it once before, as above, so below
Living on the streets of Britain you just go with the flow
But I'm done, I'm out for the night
As the sun paints the pavements, I'll turn out the light
White noise on the radio to quiet my mind
Always was an over-thinker, just the way I'm designed
Britain, drink it down and moan about the weather
When it's all said and done we'll be in it altogether
Boys will be boys, will be like it forever
It's a bittersweet symphony, we're birds of a feather
Cause its a bittersweet symphony thats life
Trying to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die...
Thank you
Thankyou for your genius Ren. This was beautiful. The orchestra was epic x

Happy Birthday!!! 🎉🎉It's my Birthday too. Hello from the USA, Love Ren too❤❤
Happy birthday kid. Hope you have an amazing day. Wish you all the best ❤❤
I'm very late to the party... but yikes... you're a vibe 🖤
Have the best birthday
54 year old with CPTSD! You inspire me every day! That was banging Ren! Thank you! Your voice, you are a musical lyrical genius of our time! You get me through every day! Thank you for being YOU🔥❤️
Love how you ended it on the lyrics "you're a slave to the money then you die". Perfect!
That's from the first verse of the original.
Chills
Beautifuly done 👍🏽🐷✌🏼
I miss your singing voice
Real music, real soul, real instruments, and the truest of lyrics....restores my faith in music. You got a gift, you really have x
I been loving music my whole life and at 38 I have no hesitation in saying REN you are my favourite of all time.. much love from Cardiff brother.
Ren, your singing voice is so special. Thank you for this version.
Beautifully done Ren. Big props to your quartet too. They did amazing.
Another South African! I absolutely love Ren, he changed the meaning of music
💯
And yet another South African fan! Ren is storytelling of the highest grade - honest and raw, but always intelligent and carefully assembled to flow from word to word like liquid poetry.
The way you are able to understand the meaning behind a song so that you can do a "cover" that is true to the original while also being 100% an original piece of work is truly a gift. Thank you so much for the art that you share with us.
Did the cellist just mimic the seaguls on his strings? Man, I know I shouldn't be surprised, but you did it again! Thanks for this version!
Yeah blew me away when he did it first time in rehearsals
Yeah that was a great touch. How the hell did they manage to capture the sound so well outside without getting all the background noises?
Insane!👌
@@RenMakesMusic Wait! Did he do that at SGP as well? I didn’t catch that part there. Man, this detail is everything! 🥰
@@RenMakesMusicwow!!
Apart from being a year older, you have just said everything im feeling.
@@LennyBenny-oi1cr At this age, a year older doesn't mean a thing, lol. Digital fist bump, bro. Have a good one.
My thoughts and feelings are exactly the same as yours and I'm 54 now and I'm Welsh and I'm so proud of ren for keeping it so real.
48, same thoughts exactly. Haven't found many others, though.
Born 75, it has been a long Time listening to old Stuff
I did not really realize how I miss your music until I hear you again 😮
Is it just me ? A smile always appears on my face when listening to Ren, he is so poetically amazing!
It may be because he is unapologetically himself, and that is something we all wish to be, but so many fail to be. As a result we look at those who are with respect and admiration.
And once again Ren has managed to make me cry. ❤
A poet, an artist, a living legend, a force so unique and special, the connection I feel to you is so strong. I cheer for you to succeed in whatever you need to succeed with to gain happiness and peace...that's what you deserve brother. This was absolutely legend! ❤
means a lot!! thanks u
From a scot im fifty five years old and can't stand modern music but that just kicked me in the balls@RenMakesMusic
Love it
@@tinkersdug1969 Клёво ударило!
You know it's a banger any time REN posts but you know it's gonna be a BANGER when he brings a quartet
Just can’t beat a live performance! Love it!!😍 The addition of some original lyrics at the end🤌
Original to the actual song you mean? Not original by Ren..
@@leewoodard5871 yes original Verve lyrics
That part where you say “bare with me “ and with your hand everything stopped is awesome. I love the line about poetry in the city if you listen enough! Every single time you drop another song it encapsulates me. Great job is an understatement, Ren!!
Truly beautiful
Those last two lines - Goosebumps ❤
Reached right into my soul those two lines did.
That’s the original song. The original lyrics. By the Verve.
@@leewoodard5871 aye, but it’s his delivery that is so special. His vocal control is just phenomenal.
@@leewoodard5871, I know that - I’m a huge fan of the song. It was more about the way our boi sang it, just so much soul and emotion.
@@earthfairy333 yeah, this…an old soul in a young vessel
You're so beautiful. Despite the pain, and the struggle my love, your tattered angel wings glow true for us. Bless you Ren.

That read so beautifully. ❤ from Texas USA
Damn I missed it
Lovely to read from here in WI.
@@flamethrowe1125 It's alright I did too but it won't stop me from rewatching it a million times even as I snooze.
The original at the end was just the icing on the cake 💥👌🏼🇬🇧
Discovered you 1hr 30 mins ago and have just been down a REN rabbit hole on TH-cam…… absolutely beautiful!!! What a talent.
it happens all the time in that way with Ren
Those strings… Just beautiful ❤
The quartet were too good!
@@RenMakesMusic The seagull sounds from the cello... chef's kiss.
Yes absolutely stunning
I love this rendition too, strings and voice make it more "peaceful", keeping the Verve's two last line hits hard, food for thought indeed.
It's brillant ❤
Bitter sweet indeed.
Can only dance your way through it 💚🕺
Another solid live performance Ren 👏🏻😮
I, and currently 92000 other people, absolutely adore this.
Man's a legend!
Man, I had goosebumps the whole time.
Something about this track, I can really hear it in his voice. I'm still shook. Amazing, unbelievable, insanely beautiful. A man of his craft.

When a song can easily live in so many colours, it becomes timeless.
ART. THIS IS THE TRUE ART - MIXING THE UNMIXED, CROSSING FICTIONAL LINES AND CREATING NEW WHICH CATCH HEART FROM INSIDE❤❤🎉🎉
The artistry Ren puts out is just immaculate. Phenomenal
🤯 I can’t wait!!! One of my favorite songs of all time & with REN’s vocals 🤌🏽🙌🏽🔥❤️
YES!!! 👏
This guy need to be way more recognised than he is. Love his work.
He will ❤
Я его узнаю мгновенно, - второго такого нет.
The cello mimicking the sea gulls is just incredible. Great job Ren! Incredible singing at the end too man, so powerful
This guy is still talking facts not what the world wants. Respect, Ren
Edit: thanks for 100 likes 😁
Im from New Zealand. I lived in London for the first decade of this century. And I smoked Marlboro lights. While listening to the verve and all other Brit pop. Love it up high.
Was the Church at King’s Cross on Sundays still around when you were there?
Love you Ren!!! Your french fan of 62... Vous êtes absolument extraordinaire!!!
Bloody hell , as a 60 year old who loves all music this guy is fantastic 👌
Britain's greatest undiscovered genuis. Genuinely love his guy. His music pierces my heart and soul every single time ❤❤
On 8/26/23 I lost a dear friend tragically. This song has followed my friends and I around following his death. It’s oddly comforting that you are releasing this on his 1 year heavenly anniversary ❤️😇
Your music means so much to me ✌️
That is one crazy story... Sending good and happy thoughts - R.I.P to your friend ❤🙏🕯️
This date also has significance to me. I lost a brother 3 years ago this day! I am so appreciative of Ren!
There is something so deeply special about taking an icon of a song, adding the type of lyrics you write and then performing it live with a proper band of instruments… Just argh 👏👏👏
One of the most talented musicians I have ever witnessed

@@cathywethington5913 i do like it . I'm just saying that I know much more talented musicians then this guy. I saw him play guitar that was pretty good. But for example i know guitar players who are way better then him
@@daanbrekelmans9165 ok
daanbrekelmans, I'm glad you like Ren.
Never had an addiction until I heard Ren, I am officially addicted to him now and is not turning back !! 😅
Ren I was only introduced to your amazingness a couple of weeks ago and I’m obsessed!!! This blew me away. Love hearing u sing in this🥰 your voice is amazing and u should treat us to it more ❤️ please come to Scotland soon 🏴 xxx

(And everyone please listen to crutch and children of the moon you're gonna love it they are so underrated)

Crutch is one of my favourites, it's a powerful piece of art
Children of the moon is actually my favorite video! Very George A Romero! And crutch is beautiful! I feel that was a very challenging one to perform for him emotionally
Burst out crying the first time I listened to crutch, to say it was a powerful experience would be an understatement.
Children of the moon is 🔥 1990's is my favorite tho, it calls to me a lot since i'm from the same era.
I've been in the music industry for over 40 years as a session guitarist ,I've recorded and toured with some of the best musicians around ...this man has a special talent
Poor man's Mike skinner imo but I'm old.

We must act
