FYI, Anni-Frid (red head) married a honest to God Prince much later after ABBAs, break up. His name was Prince Heinrich Russo Reuss of the house of Reuss. Heinrich later died from cancer and because "Frida" never re-married she still carries the Royal title of ; Princes Anne-Frid Reuss, Countess of Plauen which is a very small country around Germany. (I think!). Fridas' net worth is $350 million which dwarfs her other three band mates.

And Agnetha had years of harassment during which her stalker wrote her hundreds of letters, bought the house next door and succeeded in striking up an unlikely relationship with her. At the stalking trial in 2000, Faltskog said: “His courting of me was very intense and went on for a very long time. In the end I couldn't resist him anymore !

Fun fact: One of the members in ABBA, Björn, said that the beat in this song "came to him" when he was out jogging on the island of Lidingö, Stockholm. When he was running, his steps on the wet ground sounded like _"take a chance, take a chance..._ Björn said that he wanted to emphasize this beat in the beginning of the song: 2:06

Benny & Bjorn (pronounced Be-yorn) were the two songwriting geniuses who created all ABBA's wonderful melodies and harmonies and made them one of the greatest pop bands in the history of music. I've loved their music ever since ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with their first hit 'Dancing Queen' and introduced themselves to the world back in 1974. God bless all four of them for ever, their musical contributions will live in our hearts always. 🙋‍♂ 🙋‍♂ 🙋‍♂ 🙋‍♂

Thank you so much for reacting to Abba. For me this is one of the best Bands of all times. They managed to touch the soul of people so many times with their music, over decades, they deserve to be reviewed. Not to mention their last Album, released after 40 years, and the great show in London. Abba was not always ahead of their time, but they influenced other musicians over the decades so often. Younger people, not knowing them do not recognize it, but us older ones (me being 55) do.

    @eduardooscar309 ปีที่แล้ว +18

So nice to see you return to reaction more ABBA songs
"Take a chance on me" (1978)
is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world,
the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen),
    #3 in Billboard U.S.
one of their four Top10 in US :
    #6 Waterloo (1974)
    #1 Dancing Queen (1977)
    #3 Take a chance on me (1978)
#8 The winner takes it all (1981)
This is one of few song than the vocals are more extensive than the music
(They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end)
the blonde singer Agnetha is the lead vocal in the solo verses, her voice is so powerful,
in perfect armonies and chorus with the brunette Anni Frid in co-leads vocal
(and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance')
Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together
    Agnetha is soprano
    Anni Frid is mezzo soprano
and together made a 'third voice'
the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging,
by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to
"take a chance, chance, take a chance",
    so the song was born
Although it is a disco europop, it's like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying, addictive
if I could give You a suggestion for next reaction, take a review of all "ABBA The Álbum"
(release at the same time with "ABBA The Movie" in 1977),
is a Masterpiece of versatility in each song,
    but specialy the hymn
    "Thank you for the music"
or the winner song of the classic Eurovisión Song Contest at UK 1974: "Waterloo"
the live perfomanece of ABBA is icónic, I leave you to the reaction:

ABBA is a very unusual group with the great creative duo of Benny and Björn, and two world class lead vocalists, Agnetha and Anni-Frid (Frida), switching off and singing harmonies.
It might be interesting to react to some of the songs where Frida is singing lead, like "Fernando" and "I Have a Dream"
There are live versions of "Thank You for the Music" (where Agnetha sings lead) and "I Have a Dream" (where Frida does) on TH-cam.
EDIT: It occurs to me that I never mentioned any songs where the guys sing lead. I know Björn sings lead on "Does Your Mother Know," I'm not certain if Benny ever actually sings lead, but there are a couple of other songs where one of them sings lead.

They were representing there country Sweden and they won it with a landslide vote. I was 10 years old and had a crush on the Blonde singer Agnetha, she was just beautiful and her eyes were amazing. I remember having posters on the wall of the group and a large one of Agnetha, I was a member of there official fan club and saw there film about 10 times at the cinema. When they split up I grew out of their music and became a fan of Status Quo and my other band that I had followed from an early age Queen. Great reaction, Abba are just impossible to dislike. Great song writing. So many catchy melodies and choruses. I saw a documentary on them once and people from bands of the time, even punk bands were saying how great they were.

One thing you might not of noticed, music that came out before MTV the videos of their most songs came from TV appearances or shot from concerts. Someone from ABBA'S management had the forethought to film actual videos. I'm told they were 1 day projects on the cheap, probably why they had the Snowman.

I've never been embarrassed about playing any ABBA song back in the 70's. I do remember in an interview from "Sting" saying at that time early ABBA songs were like a 1 hit wonder and would never amount to much, he stated ABBA winning the Euro-vision contest was a fluke as it was always won by either UK or France, etc. but never a Scandinavian country. However near the end of the interview he admitted that ABBA became one of the best bands ever. So I can see where some jealousy was at least part of the reason the whole "embarrassment about listening to ABBA came about". Glad I followed my own drummer and turned them up. Always liked them, always will....

Did you know that the two guys in the band, Benny and Björn, composed and produced the musical Chess which was a huge hit on Broadway and in London West End? Tim Rice wrote the lyrics and it was showing for more than decade.

And don't forget music videos like this weren't even done by other bands back then. ABBA in a big way showed the 80's bands how to pull it all off.

Speaking of live, did you know they are performing now (in their 70's or 80's? - sorry if I aged them too much lol). Apparently there's some kind of venue built in UK just for the shows and they perform as HOLOGRAMS of themselves using motion-sensor suits (I think they're called). Released a new album after all these years.

    • @Vikinggirl1679
      @Vikinggirl1679 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes they built a special ABBA arena in London. They have concerts with avatars aka abbatars. Benny said don't call them holligrams lol. Much better and very real. They spents months for 10 hours a day wearing special suits fitted with 160 cameras to capture their every move and form in each routine so it's really their moves but the abbatars look like them in their heyday. That's why the Elvis and Whitney Houston holigrams we're terrible, the computer had no real forms to go by. These look so real you could swear they were them. Sold out every night. Coming to more places soon Bjorn said.

@@Vikinggirl1679 was that a preview of the Abbatars at the end of the video for “I Still Have Faith in You”? They looked really cool.
Avatars or holograms, that’s the future. There’s an episode of “Black Mirror” (with Miley Cyrus) where they make a hologram/avatar of her as a pop star. And I’m not gonna lie. I thought to myself “I want this future”. Imagine an artist could perform in different cities on the same night. Even have a concert in many cities across the world at the same time, tens of millions of people attending the same show.

    • @Vikinggirl1679

@@lance4155 yes that was the abbaters at the end of the video. So real. And there are many awesome costume designs during the show Frida helped design I am sure. Her grandmother taught her to sew and she is quite the accomplished seamstress.she took design classes when she moved to Stockholm and even considered it as a backup career in case singing didn't work out. Help make the Wsterloo costumes, the snakeskin outfit she often wore and the blue and yellow cat dresses she and Agnetha wore. Bjorn said they are planning to build other arenas in North America, most likely Vegas, Asia, and Australi

Guilty pleasure acts back then were fun. If you want the king of all guilty pleasures it's time for some Air Supply. Early 80's instead of 70's. All Out of Love, Making Love Out of Nothing at All, Every Woman in the World. Any of those would be fun.

ABBA came to prominence when they won Sweden's first-ever Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with the song "Waterloo." In almost every Western European Country's Chart of the most popular songs, it peaked at #1 (Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland & West Germany) and became their first ever hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, peaking at #6. Here in the US, they had one more top 40 hit in 1974 ("Honey, Honey" peaking at #27). 1975 gave them four more top 20 hits ("I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" & "SOS" both reached #15; "Mamma Mia" would peak at #32 and "Fernando" would almost make it into the top 10, reaching #13).
1976 would give ABBA it's only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with "Dancing Queen." There were two more top 40 hits for them in 1977 and this song you just heard would be the second biggest hitting, peaking at #3 in 1978.
Though 10 more songs would make onto the Hot 100 chart from 1979 to 1982, they would only have their fourth and final US top 10 hit with the song "The Winner Takes It All," which a lot of people thought the Bjorn had partially written about his real life divorce from Agnetha, though he has always denied it.
Honestly, the only song from them I actually liked was the very first 45 record that paternal grandmother played for me as a 3 year old child ("I Do ...") and she would make me dance with her, so it held very fond memories!

I love the lyrics because in my opinion they include some references to the situation of ABBA and Agnetha (she lives withdrawn from the public).
