Mr Noir, I liked the knife review, I had a SOG knife and thought it was a good tool, sadly I've mislaid it. I don't go out of the house without a knife, none the less my knife is a tool, I don't think of it as a weapon.
I'm going to respond to your interview with Bill Maher, I was very impressed. A little about me; I have my Grandfather's single shot .22 rifle, it's wrapped up in oiled cloth and newspaper and has set in the back of a closet for over 25 years, so I can't say that I don't own a gun, but that gun is of no immediate use. I like guns from a technological point of view, but I don't think that it would be the best idea for me to have a functional one as I think that I'd be very likely to harm myself or worse harm someone else. All that aside, I thought that you gave well thought out responses to Mr. Maher, some of the points that you made were new ideas to me. I appreciate folks who bring different points of view to the table. I may not change my mind, but it's valuable to consider other points of view.

Nice little knife. I change my EDC every day or two, and love my Hinderers, ZT’s, Benchmades or Spydercos, but could see this as a very casual dress folder to wear with a suit, or carry in a small jacket pocket. Of course, that’s what a Chaparral or Kopa or Manbug or mini-Griptilian is for, but this is nice and light, and I like the blade profile. At least it’s decent steel. I have several SOG fixed blades, but this would be my first folder of theirs.

Kinda weird how someone will carry around a big piece of metal and a bunch of bullets just in case they need to shoot someone, but won't carry a pocket knife to make everyday tasks easier. I recommend the Cold Steel Code 4. It is a decently sized folding knife with a good steel and doesn't cost too much. It's also pretty slim and very strong.

Seems like another quality knife from SOG, but tbh it looks to thin for me to be able to use it comfortably. I use all of my knives at work in an aluminum foundry from cutting 1in 150 psi air hoses to breaking down cardboard. From my Spyderco Dragonfly to my Microtech Combat Troodon Bounty Hunter. So it's not a problem with price or size just comfortability in use for me. Of course I won't actually know till I use it, but I've had experience with knives that are a little thicker being uncomfortable to use.

As a suggestion, since you're in Texas still, take a look at the Gerber Applegate Mini Covert Automatic. It's a US made S30V steel, "disappear in your pocket" auto that I have found to be a great EDC knife. Since it's an auto, it runs about $15 over the SOG's MSRP & it wouldn't work quite as well as a money clip, but it is small enough to do so & is a great knife.

I think a person's choice of knife they carry is a personal thing, like the car they choose to drive (or maybe like the gun they carry if they do so). That being the case, I'm not trying to criticize your choice or convince you that what I like is better or great. I just wanted to suggest checking out something with assisted opening such as the Kershaw Scallion. I think that you might think they're neat/fun, and that model is pretty small. They have a unique opening design that is as fast and easy as a switchblade (but are perfectly legal in all 50 states last I checked), which is why I think they're great for the non-enthusiast/new carrier. I think most knife companies have them now, but the one I have is the Kershaw.

I will stick with my classic pocket knife for my cutting tool. My Sig P365 SAS is my belt knife for self defense. All I ask of my belt "knife" is that it gets me to the better pair of guns in my trunk. All I ask of my cutter is that it cuts.
But you are right, it is a nice looking blade. For anyone that doesn't already have a trusty pocket knife, this might be a good way to get a cutter in your carry.

Grandpa said “if you’re a man, carry a knife. It’s one thing that if you need it, nothing else will do.” I don’t ever not have a knife unless it’s prohibited by a metal detector. When I travel abroad it’s a woobie when I can’t carry a gun. Different knives for hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, board meetings, diving, kayaking, beach, casual edc, work edc, etc. etc. etc. Most days it’s a kershaw folder, leatherman rebar, and leatherman micra. That’s only four knife blades.

I’m curious about the rivets for the belt clip if they skipped using quality metal for it. I bought a few nice knifes only to witness the rivets for the belt clip strip out because the rivets and or the handle was soft metal. One I had Titanium rivets for the knife mechanism but not on belt clips and the belt clip Lasted three months.
