The originals and remakes of many superheroes do have humor and good times. There just came the trend of darkness with them because, well, superheroes like THAT were dying. And then they came back in the 90s. And died in the 2000s. So we have gritty and dark humor heroes again. Because that's what most people wanted for the 10s.
It all began with Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, in which a bitter and depressed alcoholic future version of Bruce Wayne donned the mask of Zorro to become Batman once again, but a cynical murderous vengeful Batman, which was a stark contrast to the joyful millionair playboy who just spends his wealth on fostering petty crime to have an excuse to punch people in the face. There was also The Killing Joke, which proved that Batman could easily be serious horror, not just a male Ms Marple. And of course there was Watchmen, which completely deconstructed superheroics. All great comic books, but they also started the trend of darkgrim gothic superheroes.
Could be worse, Marvel literally has a mutant whose power is to make himself explode. The explosion will kill him as well. And if my memory is correct, he was one of the mutants who didn't lose his powers on M Day.

The radio-active liquid helium is kind of interesting since alpha radiation has the same structure as a helium atom except it doesn't have any electrons. Though this radiation is mostly harmless and is a very common background radiation.

I love that this is actually pointing out the differences between DC and Marvel. DC is great at the darker more brooding heroes and Marvel has those moments in between the punching bad guys and being a hero. DCs primary conflict is internal whereas Marvel's conflicts are primarily external (with the exception of Mutants).

I love that this is actually pointing out the differences between DC and Marvel. DC is great at the darker more brooding heroes and Marvel has those moments in between the punching bad guys and being a hero. DCs primary conflict is internal whereas Marvel's conflicts are primarily external (with the exception of Mutants).

DC has a focus on gods trying to be men, and Marvel is about men trying to be gods. Marvel is the one with the flawed human characters, while DC serves more of a paragon role that sees the good in mankind that needs protecting
