Thanks for sharing such a wonderful sounding guitar. Hope you had a Merry Christmas brother. God bless you and your family. Looking forward to all the new videos in 2025!
WOW!!! If I owned this vintage gem, it wouldn't be for sale either. Probably the best sounding original D18 I've ever heard, regardless of the year of production. Great condition too. This instrument has it all......and delivers in spades. Thanks Shawn!!!
That is one of the best sounding Martin D18 I have heard...What a vintage, dry tone with huge punch and bass...thick trebles..Does this have XS 13's P.B.? You using BC or TS pick? 1.2mm (.047-.048") here?.I truly understand why this is not for sale. Shawn what are those tuners? Shawn, I am not familiar with that tuner button shape...are they Kluson's?
Howdy Shawn, beautiful guitar. I thank you and rhe fortunate man who owns it. Happy new year! ... and I have to ask, how much for the Authentic? Sorry for that.
It just makes me wonder, why would you change the way you were making something if it's perfect. I know the age has a lot to do with the sound. It just doesn't make any sense why they thought they improved on that. Great demo, amazing guitar.
It's not just the age, which does make a difference as we all know.....but the quality of the wood they had available back then also has a lot to do with it. I've heard it said that a lot of the woods they used back in the 30's was already 30 to 50 years old when they built the guitar.
Come on you know the answer to that. Nothing good lasts. People are greedy. That’s the American way, they will give you less for more any chance they get. Profits , profits , profits.
@ lmao is that what Joe rogan told you. Clothing wears out twice as fast, insurance gets you half the coverage , vehicles last half as long , home appliances go bad in 2-3 years. And yes guitars are made with a lesser quality of wood for the standard model martins. You call that innovation ? That’s hilarious
@@dmcrisp your clothes wear out twice as fast as compared to what? You think appliances were more efficient? You’re nostalgic for things you never experienced from a time you didn’t live in. As far as the quality of wood being better in instruments it’s sincerely doubt anyone in a blind test could really accurately pick out which one is vintage. They’ve done this with concert level musicians with violins and they almost all failed. Profit is what motivates innovation and grows business and development. That’s why Taylor can make tens of thousands of good guitars every year and not a few hundred.
Martin D-18 is my all time favoritt, no other brand has the dept and tone. I have tried Huss&Dalton’s, Collings and other and loved all of them but a good D-18 i special.
What a guitar.
good lord …. I love the c-chord and f-chord strummed, as you said , the tone is so even on each string it just rings so perfectly

When I dream about guitars, this is what I hear in my head.......and then I wake up!
Wow!! So this is why the authentic 37 was created.
