What I don't understand is how they were going to seize the Alfa and then another car and more property, the Alfa is worth more than 4000£ surely, wouldn't that cover the debt then
@James Price they say they only get like 20-30% of the estimated value at the auctions. (I really want to find these auctions. It seems like you can get really cheap stuff) so they make sure to take more than enough to cover the debt so they don't have to come back. 🤷♂️ I'm not sure about the US law on these things, so I can't speak to that, but... that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The UK law makes perfect sense. If the law was the other way around, (meaning the agents had to prove who owns what) then debtors could just claim everything doesn't belong to them. "This car and that TV... and... that snowmobile, they all belong to my mom!" Of course, everyone would just claim they don't own anything to avoid paying. THEY put themselves in this situation so now the responsibility of proving who owns what falls on them. Thats their fault.
@@Qaor If you search Bristol Car Auctions, Police Auctions or East Anglia Car auctions you will find these cars turn up there. Not all the cars will be seized examples mind, obviously people also just decide to auction their cars sometimes, the way to tell is usually (if the auction doesn't state they are) that they will be missing basically all the information, not just the service history but also things like the V5c, which will be a bit of an admin pain and cost you about £50 more on top to get new docs from the DVLA. Can be a great bargain because sometimes you get a tasty low mileage motor which had FSH for less than 50% of the true value, but sometimes you buy something that's shagged and barely running, didn't have any work done on it ever etc. It's all about how confident you are in looking at a car, run the engine, and putting your money where your mouth is because at these auctions they don't let you take it for a test drive because there are usually about 5-10 people interested in each car and they've got 50-100 to sell per day.

@@liztrainer895 I bought a new car once AFTER doing the math and realizing I could only get by doing $200-something a month but it would take about a year. I didn't tell the dealer I could pay in full, LOL. It sometimes helps to have access to a little extra cash and use your job paychecks to recover after the monthly payment. Not everyone can pay for a car outright but sometimes, the dealer really wants to make a deal (hey those cars aren't moving themselves and that's why they have "manufacturer-authorized discounts"!). That's why some people go with monthly payments. I made sure I could pay the car in full within six months if I really had to but I stuck with the monthly payments. That was the catch for getting massively discounted Lojack and a free spoiler with the car. But it was a nice looking car.
The first two father and son were just a lovely pair...
Father comes to the door with an attitude... they're both told the son legally owes money... and the sons response is to just say "I'll just go bankrupt" as if that's an easy thing that just solves everything, and the fathers reaction is to.... laugh???
Rather than just pay the money you OWE to someone... they work together to find ways not to do that. Great example there dad 👌.
What I don't understand is how they were going to seize the Alfa and then another car and more property, the Alfa is worth more than 4000£ surely, wouldn't that cover the debt then
Also with English law you have to prove ownership? In the states it's the other way around.
@James Price they say they only get like 20-30% of the estimated value at the auctions. (I really want to find these auctions. It seems like you can get really cheap stuff) so they make sure to take more than enough to cover the debt so they don't have to come back. 🤷♂️
I'm not sure about the US law on these things, so I can't speak to that, but... that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
@@Qaorfault of the debtor yes. Not the fault of the person who simply owns the property the debtor lives in.

Sadly in the UK they don’t care, here in the USA the worst would happen if Brandon didn’t pay and his mom had co-signed is they’d ding her credit and turn her in to collections, but they’d never show up at her house taking stuff. A secured loan where you put up select assets for collateral is another good option here where if payment defaults the item financed is repossessed and sold, nothing else. @@jamesprice3455 idk I've watch a few British car Chanel here on TH-cam and they keep talking about getting this and that car for 5-10x less then it would cost here in Norway.
Yet what boggles my mind is it possible to not have a $2000-$4000 between grown adults? "best I could do is 600 and I can pay 50 a month"...
How can you only be able to pay £25 per moth between two-tree grown ass adults?
@@svampebob007well in the first case on this show the household goods they wanted to seize didn’t even belong to the debtor - it belonged to the debtor’s parents.
@@jamesprice3455 I imagine that two vehicles would be seized in case one of them could not turn up the value required. Should they have enough, the second vehicle would be returned.
love that despite how a tough guy person Mat is, he still has a sense of humor.
Yes he soo tough with his 0 self control.. just like a 2y old.. and wouldn't you guess! he calmed down quickly when the "grownups" showed up..
Amazing how quickly payments are made under pressure ,humans are motivations specimens 😉
My brother got a huge loan to buy a 'sure-fire gold mine' business, which was prosperous. He tried to get the loan via our parents being guarantors - they said no. I told Mum do NOT put your house up for collateral cos if my bro's business fails, you are homeless. My bro (I think) took out a 2nd mortgage or something on his house, his business failed & he lost his house. He doesn't speak to or contact any of us to this day, even though we all offered him help when we could. Never put your house up as collateral!
9:27 I feel for the elderly mother💔 The amount of shit we put parents through sometimes😓🤦🏾♂️ You can see the love they have for thier son💔
As usual, crummy house, expensive cars. Nice to see these bums have their priorities straight.
Mr Kamahl acts like the teenage son rather than the husband
It never ceases to amaze me how LONG it takes for the cops to show up in England.
In Canada or America if you call with imminent threat to yourself you'll have 2-3 cars there with in 5 -10 mins TOPS and those cops will be looking for a fight at that too.
So either England needs MORE cops or North America is a Police Continent.
Realistically it depends on your location in my area police would come in an hour or so
Lol. In my area an hour is good. They tell you to protect yourself. I have called and 4 hours later one policeman showed up.
Yeah, the us is a police state. And even then its not as reliable everywhere.
In the USA we have called the cops 3 times, for things like strangers sitting on our porch, big firecrackers going off in April, and a woman falling off a bike onto her head. Oh, and called for medical assistance twice. They arrived within 90 seconds each time. Can't complain about that response time.
The wife's at work, and he is swanning at home. It's all his wife's fault. What a nice husband. 🤴
"your bills here, your wifes here, and.. youre here sir.." hahahaha
I have been binge-watching.
Interesting show.
🗣PAY YOUR BILLS!
Pfft next you'll expect me to raise my kids 🙄😂
defendant: ~i'll pay the debt with my credit card~
**debts intensity**
Never, ever lend money to family....
Best way to avoid major problems
So true
And never co-sign. If you are blessed and want to give them a gift, great. But, don’t expect to get it back, and it’s not worth the drama to fight over lending and co-signing with family.
This show is crazy to me. The enforcement agents constantly leave each other alone, turn their backs to the debtor and are constantly unsafe.
I was thinking the same thing. I laughed when he said his first job was to make sure his colleague was safe.
in Europe people are not that crazy like in the US...
@@mongolz1000 No, they are crazy, just the crazies don't have easy access to weaponry. Every place on this earth has crazy people, please don't just throw nationality into.
@, actually Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, and El Salvador are the highest. Followed by South Africa. But by all means, say that it is America.
It’s because no guns in the UK. It would be a way different job if the worst you might get was a punch in the head.
This is fascinating. The United States has nothing but to file for Bankruptcy when a person cannot pay their debts. The other punishment for not paying is poor credit (and I think without credit, its very difficult to get through in life). I wish we had your system of collection since its quite common that people win civil lawsuits against one another. The problem is, there's absolutely NO way for any Judge, or law enforcement agency to COLLECT those debts owed. Its refreshing to know that the U.K. no longer has" Debtors Prison." That institution was a bit harsh.
“Who owns this? Who runs this?” She then sternly declares, “ME”. Who pays the bills? [crickets]
